Abstract

In this research, use of declarative inversion sentence patterns in the lyrics of song Mahalini Raharja 2024 was analyzed. The aim of this research was to identify and describe pattern of declarative inversion sentences in the lyrics of the song Mahalini Raharja 2024 based on syntax theory. Descriptive qualitative methods are applied to obtain in-depth, critical, logical and holistic research results. Data collection techniques in this research are literature studies and descriptive analysis studies. The research data source was obtained from the lyrics of the song Mahalini Raharja which was released in 2024. In this research, findings are presented which describe twenty sentences declarative inversion of pattern in the lyrics of song Mahalini Raharja in year 2024, including of (1) eight sentences were found to have a declarative inversion pattern in the lyrics of the song bermuara, (2) seven sentences were found to have a declarative inversion pattern in the lyrics of the song mati-matian, and (3) five sentences were found to have an inversion pattern declarative in the lyrics of the song sampai menutup mata mahalini's version. By observing the lyrics of the song Mahalini Raharja, declarative inversion sentences can be characterized by predicate being positioned before subject at the beginning of the sentence. Based on the results analysis, it can be concluded that declarative inversion sentence pattern in the lyrics of the song Mahalini Raharja consists of: P-S, P-K, P-S-O, P-S-K, P-S-Pel, K-P-S, and P-S-P. The interesting element of this research is discussion of declarative inversion sentence patterns in a sentence structure that is different from normal sentences because of inversion structure as a feature and role in declaring meaningful information in sentence. Urgency of this research is the use declarative inversion sentences to make sentences more effective, but not scientifically logical.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the silence that occurs in speakers' speech production. This research also aims to describe the factors that cause silence in speech made by speakers. This research method uses qualitative research methods using primary data in the form of the recitation of Mirna's father in the video entitled Jessica Convicted of Killing Mirna. Mirna's father: "Happy ending, I win!" Data analysis used in this research uses Miles and Huberman (2014) model analysis, namely collecting all notes in the field, then analyzing and classifying the types of silence uttered by Mirna's father in the video, then presenting them to in the pattern that is formed, to produce conclusions and answer the problem being researched. The results of this research found 50 analysis data that had two types of silence, namely silent silence and filled silence. There are three positions of silence, namely grammatical pauses, between constituents, and before the main word in a constituent. Apart from that, three factors were found to cause silence, namely because the speaker forgot the necessary words, the speaker had already started speaking, but was not ready for the entire sentence, the speaker was very careful in choosing words so as not to cause a negative effect.

Abstract

Writing scientific arguments is an essential skill in higher education, yet first-year students often face difficulties in constructing systematic and evidence-based arguments. This study aims to analyze the application of the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) framework in learning to write scientific arguments in higher education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study involved first-year students in a series of learning activities to write scientific arguments using the CER framework. Data were collected through analyzing students' argument texts and classroom observations. The results showed that the CER framework helped students to develop claims that were more specific and based on real problems. In addition, students are also able to select and cite relevant evidence from trusted sources, and develop logical reasoning in linking evidence to claims. However, there are still challenges in finding and evaluating the credibility of sources, as well as in constructing explicit reasoning. Therefore, learning reinforcement strategies, such as interactive discussions, independent practice, guidance in finding credible sources, and individualized feedback are needed to increase the effectiveness of the CER framework in learning academic writing. This study confirms that the CER framework is an effective approach to improve students' critical thinking and academic writing skills.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze the language errors of BIPA students in Jambi Province in writing non-academic texts. The research method used in qualitative research is a content analysis approach. The data in this research consists of analysis of language errors in the aspects of grammar, vocabulary, spelling, as well as inappropriate cohesion and coherence in the non-academic texts of BIPA students in Jambi City. The source of research data was obtained from written results in the from of proposal texts for BIPA student activities based on the Affiliate Program for BIPA students from Jambi University and Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi State Islamic University with a total of thirty foreign students from Malaysia and Thailand. The research results show that BIPA students’ language errors consist of errors in grammar, vocabulary, spelling, cohesion and coherence. The causes of these errors are influenced by mother tongue interference, lack of understanding of Indonesian language rules, and communication strategies. This research serves as a guideline for improving BIPA teaching methods to improve Indonesian language skills needed in the ability to write non-academic texts in the form of activity proposals.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the social values in these short stories, as well as to explain the role of emotions in reinforcing the moral message of literary works. The research method used in this analysis is a qualitative descriptive method, which is a comprehensive and in-depth study. The data collection technique involves reading and taking notes from the objects being studied. The short stories Gulai Kam-bhing and Ibu Rapilus by Ahmad Tohari contain many emotive meanings that can evoke emotions in readers. These emotions are grouped into three types, starting with negative emotions, namely: annoyed, confused, insulted, disappointed, anxious, surprised, troubled, regretful, tense, dislike, insensitive, and angry. Positive emotions include sincerity, admiration, laughter, nostalgia, kindness, and empathy. Lastly, neutral emotions include resignation. These emotions are evoked by the author's skillful narrative, and the words that carry emotional meaning include quickly, surprising, skinny, enjoyable, agility, aware, anxious, and so on.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning in the classroom often fails to attract students' interest. This can be attributed to several factors, such as the use of teaching methods or models that are still considered monotonous and do not directly involve students in activities. This study aims to describe the implementation of Game Based Learning in news text material for seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Besuk, as well as to identify the obstacles encountered during the learning process. The background of this study is based on the low interest of students in Indonesian language learning due to the application of conventional teaching models that tend to be monotonous. Game-Based Learning was chosen because it offers an interactive and enjoyable learning approach that can increase student engagement. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that Game-Based Learning was conducted without the use of electronic media but utilized simple tools such as old newspapers and manila paper through several educational games, such as “News Cards,” “Find the Pair,” and “Young Journalist.” Although students appeared active and enthusiastic, the study also identified some challenges, such as time constraints and limited electronic facilities at the school. Overall, the implementation of Game-Based Learning successfully created a fun, collaborative learning environment and encouraged students to be more active in understanding news text materials.

Abstract

The film Lafran presents the intellectual and social journey of a figure who has critical thinking about the social political condition of Indonesia. In this study, a Marxist perspective is used to analyze the social criticsm that appears in the film’s narrative, including how class inequality, economic exploitation, political system, education, and social system, as well the dynamics of intellectual struggle are represented. This film not only depicts the struggle of individuals in facing an oppressive system, but also shows how social structures shape critical awarenes in society. In addition to being a social reflection, the film Lafran Pane has relevance to learning Indonesian, especially thinking skills towards texts and discourse. Learning indonesiann does not only focus on linguistic the social, cultural, and ideological contexts contained in various types of texts. By sudents can develop critical awareness in understanding the structure and meaning of language, as well as recognizing how a cultural work can represent social and political realities. The study aims to connect Marxist social criticsm in film with appoarch to learning indonesiian, so that it can provide insight into how visual media such as film can be used as an educational tool in improving students understanding of social and language dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of lexical cohesion found in posters and public service advertisements in Pekalongan City. Lexical cohesion is an important element in building the integrity of discourse, especially in public messages that are short but still have to be effective and easy to understand. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through documentation, reading, and note-taking techniques on the discourse of posters and public service advertisements scattered in public spaces such as roads, terminals, places of worship, markets, and schools. The analysis shows that there is lexical cohesion consisting of: (1) collocation, (2) repetition which is used to emphasize the message and create memorability, (3) synonymy to maintain language variety and refine meaning, and (4) hyponymy which explains the meaning relationship between general and specific words. Collocation is the most dominant form of cohesion because it strengthens the relationship of meaning in the social context of the community. This finding confirms that lexical cohesion plays an important role in creating a cohesive, communicative, and persuasive public discourse, especially in delivering public service messages.

Abstract

Society needs prophetic rhetoric in everyday life to gain knowledge. Rhetoric is used in various fields, such as politics, economics, education, arts, and journalism, through the use of language that is persuasive, seductive, or persuasive. This study aims to identify prophetic rhetoric in Dedi Mulyadi's speech on YouTube and its implications for teaching speech writing to eighth-grade junior high school students. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques involving free listening and conversation. Prophetic rhetoric in Dedi Mulyadi's speeches was chosen as teaching material because it provides a contextual and inspirational learning approach, thereby increasing student engagement in meaningful speech writing. The results of the study indicate that the prophetic rhetoric in these speeches contains the values of ethos, pathos, logos, humanization, liberation, and transcendence, conveyed in straightforward and communicative language. These values are implemented in learning through speech video analysis, value discussions, and the practice of writing locally-themed speeches. The implications of this prophetic rhetoric-based learning successfully create an inspiring and reflective learning environment, encouraging eighth-grade students to actively express their ideas and life values in their speech texts.

Abstract

This study analyzes the character values and personality dynamics of the main characters in J.S. Khairen's novel Melangkah through Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic approach, specifically the id, ego, and superego structures. A descriptive qualitative research method with content analysis was applied to examine text excerpts representing the behavior, dialogue, and internal conflicts of the characters, namely Runa, Aura, Siti, Arif, and Ocha. The research findings indicate that each character undergoes unique personality development, influenced by the interplay between instinctual drives (id), rational considerations (ego), and moral consciousness (superego). For example, Runa illustrates a transition from impulsivity (id) to self-control (superego), while Siti and Ocha are more dominated by the ego, emphasizing realistic adaptation. Character values such as perseverance, courage, and politeness are identified as key elements that shape the characters' identities while driving the plot. This study contributes theoretically to literary psychology research and practically to the development of multidimensional fictional character writing. Implicitly, these findings can serve as a reference for educators in utilizing literature as a medium for contextual character education.
