Abstract

Complementary foods for breast milk (MP-ASI) are foods or drinks that contain nutrients given to infants or children aged 6-24 months to meet nutritional needs other than breast milk. The state of malnutrition in infants and children is caused by improper breastfeeding habits and maternal ignorance about the benefits and correct ways of giving MP-ASI so that it affects the mother's attitude in giving MP-ASI. The study aims at  determine the relationship between knowledge and the attitude of mothers of mother of 6-12 months infants in Sidomulyo Village, Semen District, Kediri Regency. The research used a correlational design with a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study were 30 mothers of infants aged 6-12 months. Purposive sampling technique was used in this study. This study used knowledge and attitude questionnaires. The data obtained was then analyzed using chi square test. The results of the research showed that most respondents were well informed (14 respondents; 46.7%), and most respondents had a positive attitude towards the complementary feeding (21 respondents; 70%). The results of the chi square test obtained the p-value=0.000 (< 0.05), it means there is a relationship between knowledge and the attitude of mothers of 6-12 months infants in giving MP-ASI. Based on the results of the study, information about complementary foods for breast milk should be further improved by counseling, either from cadres or health workers, so that mothers will increase in their knowledge and have a positive attitude in giving complementary foods for breast milk.

Abstract

Stroke refers to a disorder caused by cerebral blood flow interruption that results in neurological impairment. Brain deterioration causes anxiety and eventually results in mortality.  The prevalence of anxiety in stroke (Post-Stroke Anxiety, or PSA) is 10.9%, with most of the cases occured in males and ranged from mild to moderate levels. The anxiety usually appear when daily activities cannot be done. The long-term impacts of post-stroke anxiety influence one's quality of life. Providing natural sounds music, such as music from piano, bird noises, and water bubbling sounds, is an alternative to alleviate the post-stroke anxiety. This study aims at identifying whether nature sounds music might help to reduce anxiety in post-stroke patients. Quasi-experimental design was carried out by implementing a one-group pretest-and post-test design. Post-stroke patients who had been unable to carry out everyday tasks for more than 6 months were purposively selected as research samples. Data were obtained through interviews and observations, as well as using questionnaire (The Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety or HRS-A). Paired T-Test was used in analyze the data. The findings showed that from 17 respondents, 11 of them (64.7%) had moderate anxiety, while the others (35.3%) had severe anxiety. The tests on varied degrees of anxiety showed the p-value of 0.000, indicating that there was difference in anxiety prior and after being given nature sounds music. The post-test mean value (18.53) was lower than that on the pre-test (21.53). To summarize, nature sounds music is good for lowering anxiety in post-stroke patients.

Abstract

Mindfulness meditation has enormous benefits in the treatment of anxiety and depression symptoms. Mindfulness practice is also associated with improved immune function, decreased psychological distress, improved well-being, reduced anxiety and increased empathy and compassion. Mindfulness practitioners can be happier, more satisfied and healthier, and have a better sense of equanimity compared to non-mindfulness practitioners. There are two types of anxiety, namely state anxiety and trait anxiety, which can affect a person's response to certain situations. The purpose of this literature review is to identify, evaluate, and synthesize the literature on mindfulness meditation and its application to the anxiety. In addition, this review is also aimed to integrate knowledge and experience with literature regarding therapy. The method used was a systematic literature review by analyzing several articles obtained from electronic databases including ProQuest, Google Scholar, and PubMed. The results of the review of ten selected journal articles showed that mindfulness meditation can help reduce anxiety and depression, as well as improve the level of awareness, cognitive function, and emotional memory.

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of EDMONS (education and demonstrations) on public knowledge about eruption disaster preparedness bags in Sugihwaras Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency. The research used a pre-Experimental Design approach of one group pretest-posttest design. The cluster sampling technique was used to obtain 46 respondents of 210 populations. The respondents were heads of families. The instrument used was a disaster preparedness bag knowledge questionnaire, while the statistical test used was Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with α=0.05. The results of the study were: before the EDMONS intervention were given all (100%) respondents had less knowledge. After being given the intervention, almost all (91.3%) respondents were well informed. The results of the analysis obtained a p-value of 0.000 (≤α 0.05), so because of the p-value is less than α, it means that there is a significant influence of EDMONS on public knowledge about eruption disaster preparedness bags in Sugihwaras Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency. The EDMONS method is a combination of very interesting, interactive, and effective methods, so that respondents get more knowledge about eruption disaster preparedness. The results of the Wilcoxon test show that there is an effect of applying the peer modeling motivation model on the motivation and behavior of eating vegetables in preschoolers (p=0.000, p<α, α=0.05). It can be concluded that the application of the peers modeling motivation model can increase the motivation and behavior of eating vegetables in preschoolers.
