Abstract

The development of valid and practical electronic student worksheets based on the theory of conceptual change in thermodynamics material has been completed. This development research uses the Rowntree development model which consists of three stages, namely the planning stage, the development stage, and the evaluation stage. At the evaluation stage, the researcher used Tessmer's formative evaluation in the form of self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. Data collection instruments used expert validation sheets and questionnaires. The results of data analysis at the expert review stage obtained an average expert validation of 4.4 with a very valid category. The average of the student questionnaire sheets in the one-on-one evaluation and small group evaluation phases was 4.4 and 4.5, respectively, with a very practical category. Thus, an electronic student worksheet based on the theory of conceptual change has been successfully developed on valid and practical thermodynamic material. This electronic student worksheet can be used to clarify conceptual understanding and correct thermodynamics misconceptions. Abstract

This study is a descriptive study that aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of students in science subjects on the material of light and optical devices as well as the causes of student misconceptions. This study was conducted on VIII grade students in SMP Negeri 5 Palembang. The subjects of this study were 100 eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 5 Palembang. The instrument used is a set of diagnostic tests consisting of 10 items of questions from physpot which has been translated and tested for validity. Data retrieval method is done by providing a test of understanding the concept of multiple choice questions as many as 10 items equipped with CRI (Certainty if Response Index) with a scale (0-5). In this study it was found that the average score obtained by students from the test is quite low at 50%. In addition, 9.28% had misconceptions, 38.5% did not understand the concept, and 28.5% had understood the concept. Some of the findings identified misconceptions include: (1) only white objects that can reflect light in a dark room, (2) points near the eyes of patients with hypermetropy, (3). light propagates about transparent objects and (4). light reflected from smooth surfaces.

Abstract

El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD)` are events where the phenomenon of rising and falling sea surface temperatures becomes unnatural. Stronger events where the sea surface temperature anomaly becomes large, then this disrupts local fish and bird populations. The ENSO and IOD phenomena also affect rainfall in several parts of Indonesia. This study analyzed the effect of ENSO and IOD phenomena on rainfall in South Sumatra Province from 1981 to 2020 and the correlation between Consecutive Dry Days (CDD) and Rainfall in South Sumatra Province for the last 40 years. ENSO data and IOD data were analyzed against rainfall data analyzed using a simple linear regression method and associated with CDD in South Sumatra Province with the correlation method. In addition, a correlation analysis was also carried out between the Niño 3.4 index and the Dipole Mode Index (DMI) with rainfall at two stations, namely the Palembang Climatology Station and the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Meteorological Station to determine how much influence the ENSO and IOD phenomena had on rainfall in the Sumatra Province. South. The results of the analysis show that the effect of ENSO and IOD on rainfall at each station is generally not significant. The state of rainfall in the Province of South Sumatra for the last 40 years is almost not influenced by El Nio and La Nia. This is presumably due to the location of the South Sumatra Region which is in the Munsonal area. Monsoon areas are characterized by a unimodial type of rainfall (one peak of the rainy season) where in June, July and August the dry season occurs, while December, January and February are the wet months. The remaining six months is a transitional or transitional period (three months of transition from dry season to rainy season and three months of transition from rainy season to dry season).

Abstract

Indonesia is a country located on the equator. As a result, Indonesia has a dry season and a rainy season. Rainfall prediction is very useful in various fields. The prediction method that is currently developing rapidly is the prediction method using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. Machine learning is a subset of AI. The application of multiple linear regression algorithms in machine learning can be used to predict a dependent variable with various types of independent variables that affect it. In this study, rainfall prediction has been carried out involving three independent variables, namely wind speed, maximum air temperature, and minimum air temperature with dataset obtained from the kaggle.com site. The dataset used is 6,574 data, where the data is grouped into training data as much as 80% and test data as much as 20%. Multiple linear regression algorithm is written in Python programming language and implemented using jupyter notebook. In this study, a multiple linear regression model was produced with the equation ,, MSE value was 14.02, RMSE was 3.74, and MAE was 2.27.

Abstract

Exposure to an Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) magnetic field with an intensity of 100 µT has been set as a threshold value for health effects, but it still needs to be studied for its biological impact, especially on the function of the heart organ. This study aims to examine "The Correlation of Body Mass to Heart Rate of Balb-C Mice Exposed to an Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Magnetic Field of 100 µT Intensity". This study used a True Design Experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD), by subjecting Balb/C mice to an ELF magnetic field intensity of 100 µT intermittently for 2 hours/day for 15 days and 30 days. A sample of 21 Balb/c mice was divided into 3 groups, the control group, and 2 groups exposed to an ELF magnetic field of 100 µT intermittently 2 hours/day for 15 days and 30 days. The variables measured in this study were body weight and heart rate per second. Weight measurements were carried out using a digital balance with an accuracy of 0.00gr with 3 measurements accompanied by 3 observers while heart rate measurements were carried out by manually counting using the human senses assisted by using a stopwatch as a timer for 5 minutes each. The data from this study were analyzed using correlation statistical analysis using SPSS 23 software. The results showed that the ELF magnetic field intensity of 100 µT on the 30th day had higher body mass and heart rate than the control group. This is because the intensity of 100 µT causes excessive muscle work in the hearts of Balb-C mice

Abstract

Abstract

Mobile phones radiate electromagnetic radiation at certain levels can harm the health of the human body. This study aims to determine the amount of electromagnetic radiation from the magnetic field and radio frequency radiated by mobile phones to the safe distance of humans while sleeping. This study uses a purposive sampling technique and measures with an application on a mobile phone. The magnetic field emitted by mobile phones is measured with the "Phypox" application magnetometer, while the radio frequency uses the "Quanta Monitor" application to measure SAR values. The magnitude of the mobile phone's magnetic field is inverse to the measuring distance. The closer the measurement distance, the greater the magnetic field. The amount of radio frequency at the SAR level of the mobile phone has an inverse relationship to measuring distance. The closer the measurement distance, the greater the resulting SAR value. The magnitude of the magnetic field generated by the source mobile phones are still far from the WHO-recommended magnetic field radiation exposure threshold value, the SAR results measurement generated by the mobile phone is relatively small and below the safe limits set by the IEEE and FCC, so if it follows WHO, IEEE and FCC standards then All research mobile phone objects have a safe distance of 0 cm from humans while sleeping.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking skills on projectile motion at SMA Srijaya Negara. The research method used is the quantitative descriptive method. The test was given to 101 students of classes X IPA. In general, the results of the research show that the critical thinking skills of SMA Srijaya Negara in X grade on projectile motion are still very low. Observing and judging observation is the highest sub-indicator of critical thinking skills in three classes: X IPA 1 (74,29%), X IPA 2 (45,45%), and X IPA 3 (48,48%). Meanwhile, the lowest is focusing on a question at X IPA 1 (2,86%) and X IPA 2 (0,00%). At X IPA 3, the lowest are deducing and judging deductions (0,00%) and making and judging value judgments (0,00%). Because of this, students' critical thinking skills still need to be improved. Students must be more active in their learning, and teachers must encourage students to think critically.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of students' critical thinking skills on global warming material. His research method is descriptive quantitative, namely explaining what is by using statistics. The research population was all students of class XII SMA PGRI 2 Palembang, using a purposive sampling technique as samples were students of class XII-IPA 3, which consisted of 32 students. The instrument used is in the form of critical thinking questions in the form of essays, referring to Ennis' critical thinking. Students' critical thinking abilities are grouped into Elder and Paul's thinking skills into 4 groups, namely uncritical, less critical, moderately critical and critical. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills in global warming material were low because of all Ennis' critical thinking indicators, students scored below 45%. When viewed based on the critical thinking level of Elder and Paul, students are at an uncritical level, namely TBK 0, 37.5% not critical, TBK1, 50%, less critical, TBK2, 9.4% quite critical and TBK3, 3.1% kirits. The results of the study concluded that students' critical thinking skills on global warming material needed to be improved by training students to solve a problem from various points of view.
