Abstract

The low ability to write procedure texts for making eco-prints for students in grades V and VI is caused by several things that must be observed. This is due to students' lack of understanding of procedural texts, difficulty communicating knowledge in written form, and difficulty composing effective sentences. This research aims to analyze Eco-print exploration activities as an effort to improve writing skills based on project-based learning (PjBL) integrated with Tri-N (niteni, niroake, nambahi). Tri-N concert encourages students to have the ability to observe and scrutinize an object or the stages of the Eco-print process. Then, imitate with a bank that will eventually grow creativity and innovation.  This research uses the narrative method to describe the steps of making eco-print, which serves as teaching material to improve students' writing skills. The data collection technique in this research is using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The research findings show that Eco-print exploration activities with the stages of the work creation process are able to explore, narrate the stages, and ultimately foster the ability to write a narrative based on project-based learning (PjBL) integrated with Tri-N (niteni, niroake, nambahi). Through the narrative approach, it can improve students' writing skills, especially in terms of writing descriptions and creativity. The implications of this study highlight the potential of using hands-on activities, such as eco-print making, to improve students' writing skills and enhance their understanding of the writing process.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the difficulties of class VIII-1 students at Nurul Islam Indonesia Middle School in making shading gradations when learning to draw shapes. Previously, 45% of students reached KKM and 55% did not. The main cause is the use of the lecture method and the lack of direction given by the teacher. This causes a lack of students interest in learning to draw shapes. The objectives of this research are 1) to determine the application of the demonstration method to the process of drawing cylindrical shapes using the black and white shading technique for class VIII students at SMP Nurul Islam Indonesia, 2) to improve the learning outcomes of 8th grade students in cylindrical drawing lessons at Nurul Islam Indonesia Middle School, Medan City. The method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) in two cycles, each consisting of one meeting. The research results showed an increase in student interest from 81%, in cycle I to 100% in cycle II. Student learning outcomes increased from 54% (12 students) in cycle I to 77% (17 students) in cycle II. Thus the demonstration method has been shown to increase students’ interest and learning outcomes in drawing cylindrical shapes.

Abstract

The creation of this work began with the Pintoe Aceh motif, which has gained wide recognition in Aceh, inspired by the natural richness of Aceh, encompassing flora, fauna, and geometric patterns. The Pintoe Aceh motif boasts a high aesthetic appeal, enriched with elements such as Bungoeng Meulu, Oen Paku, Boh Ungkot, and geometric patterns that exude elegance and charm. The artists were compelled to use the Pintoe Aceh motif as the basis for creating window curtains and tablecloths. The primary objective of this creative endeavor is to contribute to the preservation of the Pintoe Aceh motif as a cultural heritage of the Acehnese community while producing a variety of original macramé products. The creative process involves four main stages: pre-design, design, realization, and presentation. The concept adopted embraces the concept of symbolic expression, combining modern art with tradition. This creation has yielded unique macramé products, specifically designed to enhance learning spaces, in the form of window curtains and tablecloths.

Abstract

South Sumatra with its capital city Palembang, is part of the island of Sumatra which has an area of 91,806.36 km2. because it is fed by many rivers, the mobility and needs of the people in the South Sumatra Province are basically very dependent on the main rivers, namely the Musi River and its tributaries. Many traditional ships pass through the Musi River, one of which is the Jukung ship which is usually one of the transportation used by the community to travel from one region to another and is also used to transport staples or trade goods and agricultural products. The design of the introduction of the Jukung ship is one of the preservation efforts to increase understanding in adolescents and the community. In overcoming these problems, the author uses the design thinking method for data collection and data analysis through the 5W+1H method (what, why, who, where, why, how), so as to produce an idea that can be applied at the design stage. The designed works are categorized into three media, namely issue media including, posters, x-banners, main media in the form of board games, and supporting media including, t-shirts, miniature Jukung ships, totebags, stickers, puzzles, pencil pouches, key chains. The application of the media uses illustrations of Jukung ships, rivers, ampera and other supporting elements, it is hoped that this design can embrace teenagers.

Abstract

This study examines the Hai Miiko comic, popular among Indonesian teenagers, which tells the story of Miiko, a cheerful fifth-grader experiencing puberty. Using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory, the research analyzes the comic's visual elements, language, and context to uncover deeper meanings and symbolism. Key concepts such as synchronic and diachronic analysis, langue and parole, signifier and signified, syntagmatic and paradigmatic structures, and denotation and connotation are applied to dissect the semiotic aspects of the comic. The findings reveal that Hai Miiko not only depicts the daily lives of teenagers but also serves as a visual representation of the journey to adulthood. Through symbolic imagery and a distinct artistic style, Ono Eriko effectively portrays emotional growth and self-discovery, inviting readers to reflect on childhood nostalgia and the challenges of growing up. This study emphasizes that comics, beyond being entertainment, can convey profound meanings and cultural insights through their visuals and narratives.

Abstract

The pucok reubong motif has been stylised from the form of young bamboo shoots. These bamboo shoots are transformed into a unique decorative pattern. The artist's interest in exploring the pucok reubong motif stems from its distinct shape, surrounded by triangular leaves with pointed ends resembling swords, and its interlocking patterns. This inspired the artist to incorporate the pucok reubong motif into leather bag designs. The creative process follows the Hendriyana method, which consists of four main stages: (1) pre-design, which involves the development of imagination; (2) design, where alternative designs are visually conceptualized; (3) realization, in which selected sketches are transformed into final works; and (4) presentation, involving exhibitions to establish communication between the artist and art enthusiasts. The concept applied is a symbolic expression, representing modern art that utilizes traditional idioms as its foundation. In the final project titled “Pucok Reubong Motif as an Idea for Leather Bag Creation”, the artist applied the pucok reubong motif as a decorative element on leather bags. This work aims to enhance aesthetic appeal while introducing the pucok reubong motif to a wider audience unfamiliar with it. The bags were created using embossing techniques combined with weaving, resulting in works that are both artistic and meaningful.
