Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) is an effort to monitor the health of pregnant women and their fetuses to prevent complications during pregnancy. ANC visit behavior remains a challenge at the Wae Codi Public Health Center, Manggarai District. This study aims to analyze the relationship between factors such as maternal education level, residential distance, family income, family support, and health worker support on ANC visit behavior. This research employs an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consists of 75 mothers who gave birth in 2023, selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test with α = 0.05. The results show significant relationships between education level (p = 0.001), residential distance (p = 0.000), family income (p = 0.000), and family support (p = 0.000) with ANC visit behavior. Highly educated mothers were more likely to utilize ANC services (64.3%) compared to mothers with low education levels (9.1%). Mothers living close to health facilities were more regular in visiting (40%) than those living far away (0%). Family income influenced visits, with financially well-off families utilizing ANC more frequently (34.7%) than low-income families (5.3%). Strong family support also increased ANC visits (37.3% vs. 2.7%). In contrast, health worker support showed no significant relationship (p = 0,093). These findings highlight the need for interventions such as education for mothers with low education levels, improved access to healthcare facilities, financial support, and strengthening the role of families to enhance ANC visits in the Wae Codi Public Health Center area.

Abstract

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent type of arthritis, particularly among the elderly, and is a leading cause of disability in older adults. Reduced physical activity in OA patients often results in psychological disturbances when visiting healthcare facilities, contributing to a significant burden on healthcare services and diminishing individual quality of life. Objective: This study aims to analyze the literature on the effectiveness of hydrotherapy and land-based physical exercise in addressing osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using the PubMed, Semantic Scholar, and OpenAlexa databases up to December 2024. Keywords included "Osteoarthritis OR OA," "Hydrotherapy OR Aquatic Therapy OR Foot Soak," and "Exercise OR Physical Therapy”. Results: A total of eight studies met the inclusion criteria, comprising six randomized controlled trials and two quasi-experimental studies. The findings indicate that hydrotherapy significantly reduces pain, improves joint mobility, and enhances quality of life, particularly for patients with difficulty performing land-based activities. Moreover, land-based physical exercises are effective in improving joint function and overall physical performance. The combination of these approaches may provide an optimal solution for OA management, addressing both physical and psychological challenges faced by patients. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of incorporating hydrotherapy into OA treatment protocols to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases in the world and is among the top ten causes of death globally. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the pulmonary TB control program at the Sikumana Health Center, Kupang City, in 2022. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method through interviews selected based on purposive sampling. The results indicate that in terms of input, human resources and funding are sufficient, but infrastructure remains inadequate. Regarding the process, program planning is conducted by a special team in collaboration with the head of the health center and healthcare workers during a cross-sectoral mini-workshop. The Sikumana Health Center collaborates with sub-district heads, village heads, health cadres, PMOs, and the military (Babinsa) to monitor medication adherence and track TB contact patients. Case detection is carried out actively and passively, with diagnosis conducted through a Molecular Rapid Test (TCM). The treatment follows the 2016 pulmonary TB control guidelines, while recording and reporting activities are done both manually and electronically. The main challenges include treatment dropout due to patient mobility, low public awareness of TB control, limited cross-sectoral involvement, and an increased workload for analysts due to extensive contact tracing. In conclusion, while the program is running well, several obstacles need to be addressed to enhance the effectiveness of pulmonary TB control at the Sikumana Health Center.

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve the health status of the community is to encourage the utilization of health services. The number of patient visits at Lengkosambi Health Center fluctuates from 2021 to 2023, reflecting the influence of various factors such as predispositions, enablers, and needs in determining health service utilization. One factor that influences the utilization of these services is the community's perception of illness. People may feel healthy and do not need regular check-ups or treatment, even though they have unrecognized health risks. This study aims to determine the factors that influence health service utilization in the working area of Lengkosambi Health Center in 2024. This was an analytic survey study with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 5,023 people with a sample of 95 people selected through simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed that insurance ownership (p=0.002), availability of health workers (p=0.003), and perception of illness (p=0.005) had a significant influence on the utilization of health services at Lengkosambi Health Center. In contrast, accessibility (p=0.163) did not show a significant effect. Therefore, health workers at health center are advised to increase education to the community regarding the correct concept of health and illness and the importance of utilizing health services, even for complaints that are considered mild.

Abstract

A latrine is a structure used for disposing of and collecting human waste in a designated place to prevent it from becoming a source of disease. Latrine sanitation is influenced by the construction of the latrine, the availability of facilities such as clean water, soap, cleaning tools, and the condition of the fecal storage area. This study aims to describe the results of healthy latrine mapping in Babau Subdistrict, East Kupang District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This research is descriptive with a survey approach. The focus of the study includes the condition of latrine buildings, latrine facilities, and fecal storage areas. The research was conducted in Babau Subdistrict, which has a population of 4,229 people and 915 households. Among these, 825 households use goose-neck latrines, 22 households use sloping latrines, 11 households use pit latrines, and 57 households do not have private latrines and instead use shared latrines. The research instruments included observation sheets, a global positioning system (GPS Garmin eTrex 10) location map, photography tools, and QGIS. The results showed that 58.6% of latrine buildings met the required standards, 64.4% of facilities complied with sanitation requirements, and 56.3% of fecal storage areas met the standards. These findings indicate that a significant portion of latrines do not meet the required standards. Therefore, interventions are needed to improve sanitation quality, particularly by enhancing latrine structures, providing adequate facilities, and ensuring a safe and healthy waste disposal system for the community.
