Abstract

  Abstract - Crackers and corn marning flat plate collector systems use solar energy to improve the quality and hygiene of small industrial products crackers and corn marning the Sima Indah brand is a tool that utilizes solar radiation energy after passing through the collecting plate, the heat received is used to dry crackers and corn material marning. The main constituent component of a flat plate collector is the plate as a collector cover, a zinc plate painted black to enhance absorbency to function as an absorber plate, insulating material from cork or wood powder, and blocks and dryers from teak boards. Construction of crackers and corn marning models is very simple because the raw materials and materials for making, workmanship is easy to obtain, the design is short and does not require a long time. The method of community service is the provision of materials, design and manufacture of tools, demonstration of tools and the provision of cracker dryers and marning corn with solar energy flat plate collector systems have been made by a team for small industries Sima Indah corn processed products, simulation tools, special counseling at partner locations and contribute advice as a follow-up in production resilience. The output of the program can increase production value added by 20 kg - 30 kg of raw material to 40 kg - 50 kg, in terms of drying time 4-7 days to 2-3 days and speed in mass production, hygiene and guarantee of cleanliness.

Abstract

This activity promotes the development of traditional Sasando and Sasando electric production and design as an effort to maintain and preserve local culture with a research approach and community service in the electric edon sasando partner industry in kupang. The partner industry experienced a variety of problems, especially in the production process, procurement of raw materials, facilities and facilities for production, marketing and promotion while the demand for electric Sasando musical instruments was in great demand of the Local Market, National and International. In Production still use simple and limited equipment so that the product is finally a little. The methods used in this program are the stages of preparing work plans, implementing programs, determining performance indicators, implementing monitoring and evaluation and mentoring and preparing the final program report. The results of this service program resulted in a tranducer component, Spul Sasando Tester with high accuracy and precision so that the products and modern designs of traditional Sasando instruments and electric Sasando have high efficiency in assembly. The results of this program traditional electric Sasando and products increased from 1 product to 5-10 traditional and electric Sasando products. The promotion is carried out in the form of participating in product exhibitions, as performers in various local, national and international events. Marketing is in the form of establishing Sasando art studios, through the internet and opening outlets. The collaboration program of Nusa Cendana University, Edon Sasando Electric's regional government and partner industries is very useful to increase production and product quality based on research results that are beneficial to the wider community so that it is recommended for further research and community service.

Abstract

This community service aims to empower junior and senior high school students to improve their knowledge, abilities and skills in playing NTT ethnic traditional musical instruments as an effort to preserve local culture, especially traditional musical instruments. Implementation methods are designed based on community empowerment methods including identification of schools and target participants, preparation of training tools and materials, provision of materials, introduction of sasando daun traditional musical instruments, recognition of tone and sound, training and use of playing sasando daun traditional musical instruments and monitoring and evaluation and sustainability. This activity is carried out on St. Catholic Catholic Middle School students Familia and Kupang Superior Generation Christian High School, each 20 students. The results of the activity showed that as many as 40 participants were able to play the Sasando Daun  traditional musical instrument skillfully, skillfully and well. It is expected that with the presence of 40 students the students will be able to direct and motivate other students to play the traditional Sasando Daun musical instrument so as to be able to preserve the NTT ethnic culture, especially maintaining the ability to play this instrument. For the continuation of the activities of all these students will be included in the appearance of the traditional Sasando Daun musical instrument play in various events in Kupang and outside Kupang and formed the Sasando Traditional Music Art Unit.

Abstract

Children with stunting are a global public health problem that has implications for impaired physical growth, which has an impact on increasing morbidity and mortality. This study aims to study the role of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on anthropometric measures of toddlers with stunting, especially height. This type of research was an experimental randomized clinical trial design, in the form of pre-post test control group design. Subjects who participated in this study were toddlers aged 12-36 months, consisting of 12 children as a control group who received placebo, and 12 children as a treatment group who received omega-3 fatty acid supplementation for 2 months. The parameters observed was height. The collected data were analyzed using t-test. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in changes in the subject’s height in the treatment group compared to the control group (p-value = 0.009294). It was further concluded that supplementation of omega-3 fatty acids in children under five with stunting could significantly increase height.

Abstract

Ten strains of Ende high land brown rice were assessed to underpin their physico-chemical properties related to their potential uses.  Are Ndota has bigger grain size and smoother gel consistency than others (63.50 mm gel length). It potentially can be used as food thickeners and baby foods.  Are Kea showed the highest water imbibition ability (90.99%), the fastest wettability (12.11 sec), and the highest dispersibility value (2,50 %) due to its high amylose content (33.21 %). Potentially, Are kea can be used for noodles. The variety also had small repose angle (27.46°), therefore it can be easily transported.

Abstract

Kekurangan gizi yang terjadi sejak bayi dalam kandungan dan pada masa awal setelah bayi lahir, akan terlihat pada dampak stunting setelah anak berusia 2 tahun (Kemenkes RI, 2018). Mitra (2015) menyatakan bahwa Stunting merupakan masalah kurang gizi kronis yang diakibatkan oleh asupan gizi yang kurang dalam waktu yang cukup lama akibat pemberian makanan yang tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan gizi, stunting ini terjadi mulai dari janin dalam kandungan dan baru nampak ketika anak berusia dua tahun. Stunting merupakan bentuk kegagalan pertumbuhan (growthfaltering) akibat akumulasi ketidakcukupan nutrisi yang berlangsung lama mulai dari masa kehamilan sampai usia 24 bulan. Metode antropometri adalah metode yang digunakan untuk mengukur defisiensi gizi dan dapat menunjuk riwayat gizi masa lalu. Ketidakseimbangan ini terlihat pada pola pertumbuhan fisik dan proporsi jaringan tubuh seperti lemak, otot dan jumlah air dalam tubuh. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih para pelayan di Jemaat GMIM untuk lebih memahami tentang stunting, mendeteksi secara dini dan mencegah terjadinya stunting. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah gabungan antara penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Materi penyuluhan yang diberikan berupa : Penyebab stunting, Tanda dan Gejala stunting, Pencegahan stunting. Selanjutnya materi pelatihan berupa : Pengukuran antropometri, pemeriksaan Hemoglobin dan demo masakan berbahan lokal bergizi. Dalam penyuluhan maupun pelatihan, keberhasilan dinilai secara spontanitas dari peserta dengan meminta mereka menjelaskan kembali materi penyuluhan atau memperagakan kembali materi pelatihan. Pelaksanaan Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan di Gereja GMIM Kapernaum Kelurahan Tenau. Pada Tanggal 6 Februari 2020. Adapun hasil yang dicapai adalah peningkatan jumlah peserta yang mengetahui dan memahami beberapa hal yang terkait dengan stunting yaitu, hubungan zat gizi dengan stunting, penyebab, dampak dan pencegahan dari stunting. Selain itu bagi para pelayan telah memiliki keterampilan antropometri dan mengolah bahan pangan lokal bergizi, yang nanti keterampilan tersebut diharapkan dapat berguna untuk deteksi dini dan sekaligus pencegahan stunting.

Abstract

Premenstrual syndrome is a collection of physical and psychological symptoms that appear 7 to 10 days before menstruation in women of childbearing age and disappear after menstruation. Premenstrual syndrome can be caused by body mass index and exercise activity. This is an analytic study with a cross-sectional study design that consists of 92 respondents as the sample was selected by simple random sampling. This research was conducted from September to October 2020. Data collection used interview techniques using a questionnaire and anthropometric measurements of body weight and height. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test. The results of the chi-square statistical test showed that body mass index (p-value = 0.041 ≤ 0.05) and sports activities (p-value = 0.010 ≤ 0.05) are related to the degree of premenstrual syndrome. It is important to maintain ideal body weight by consuming nutritious and healthy foods and balanced with regular exercise activities so that the body mass index is normal and avoids the problem of premenstrual syndrome and achieves optimal health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the risk of malnutrition in children under five at Palla Primary Health Care, Southwest Sumba District. The type of research was analytical observation with a case-control design. The sample of case and control consisted of 46 people per group. Data analysis was performed by calculating Odds Ratio (OR). The results showed that infectious diseases (OR= 2,590), mothers’ knowledge related to nutrition (OR=2,615), energy (OR= 2,067) and protein (OR=2,254) consumption were risk factors for malnutrition among children under five. It can be concluded that infectious diseases, maternal knowledge of nutrition, energy and protein consumption have an important role as a risk factor for the incidence of malnutrition in children under five.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the provision of breast milk without other additional food. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 0 - 6 months at the Rada Mata Public Health Center, Southwest Sumba Regency, which was conducted from August to October 2020. This type of research was an analytical observational with cross-sectional study. Sampling in this study were 75 respondents who had children aged 6-12 months. Data processing was carried out descriptively and analytically. The results showed a significant relationship between education, knowledge, employment, support from health workers, family support for exclusive breastfeeding for infants 0-6 months at the Rada Mata Puskesmas, Southwest Sumba Regency. Mothers who have a good education have the opportunity to provide exclusive breastfeeding for their babies, as well as work, support from health workers and family support for mothers under five. Therefore, it is necessary to collaborate between health workers and the local community, especially mothers who have babies aged 0 - 6 months so that the program can be implemented properly.

Abstract

The low level of public nutrition knowledge related to a balanced diet, a good diet, the presence of poor nutrition areas, and the low level of energy and protein adequacy are the causes of nutritional problems in Indonesia. Children under five years old (toddlers) are included in the vulnerable age group, so they need serious attention in efforts to fulfill their nutritional intake. This study described the energy consumption, protein, and nutritional status of toddlers in the orphanage assisted by the Social Service of Kupang City. This type of research was descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique in this study used total sampling so that the total population was the same as the number of samples, namely 34 toddlers. The results showed that the highest energy and protein consumption level was in the deficit and normal category, respectively (59%&41%). Nutritional status based on weight/age and height/age index was in the normal category (94% dan 74%). The weight/height index was in a suitable category (88%). Paying more attention to the nutrition of children under five in orphanages is necessary. The orphanage is expected to play an active role in increasing their attention to the level of energy consumption of toddlers by arranging a balanced nutritional menu so that the energy needs of the toddlers can be fulfilled. In addition, the aid provider, either permanent or non-permanent donors or the community, is expected not to assist the orphanage only during the COVID-19 pandemic.
