AKSARA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (Journal of Linguistics and Literature) is a biannual journal (April and October) published by the Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung. It addresses a wide range of different fields in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, and literature. The journal aims to promote the development of links between research in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, as well as literature and its application in professional and educational settings. Therefore, the journal invites researchers, scholars, students to submit their research articles and literature reviews for publication in this journal.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected almost all departments, including academic activities, and almost all campuses have been locked down. One of the most affected by the covid-19 pandemic is the writing of scripts/theses or papers for short. The purpose of this research is to fill in the gaps. Although they cannot come to campus, they can still consult their papers and get feedback from their supervisors. To achieve this goal, the researcher has used advances in information, computers, and technology (ICT). However, even though the use of ICT has been widely used, including in universities, its use in the process of paper supervision is still very limited. By contrast, many students and lecturers in certain universities even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, got difficulties to determine the right time for both parties to meet because of the affairs of the lecturers or students. The pandemic worsened the situation.The purpose of the research is to find a new effective strategy to supervise students in writing papers, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, there are three main sub-goals of the research: 1) To research on how to realize online-based paper supervision. 2) To trace students' opinions on the implementation of online paper supervision; and 3) To find new and effective ways of paper supervision. Questionnaires, interviews, and documents were used to collect data. People have found that using online is very effective and efficient in guiding paper writing. Students and lecturers can communicate via the internet anytime and anywhere, even if it is under the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic; the supervisor’s advice is easy for students to understand, easy to follow and tidy. More importantly, students' writing products are better, tidier and more comprehensive.

Abstract

The SVRK (Self-Video Recording and Kinetic) learning model is a language learning model developed to achieve Self Regulated Learning of agricultural students in English based on local agricultural potential. The purpose of this study is (1) to produce and describe, (2) to describe feasibility, and (3) to describe the model of product use in learning English. This research is a development research that refers to the Research and Development (R D) development model of Borg and Gall. The steps of research include: (1) analyzing potential and problems, (2) designing products, (3) collecting material, (4) making initial products, (5) conducting expert tests, (6) revising products, and (7) conduct field tests. Abstract

Inter-language theory is naturally a constantly evolving theory, having changed considerably since its initial formulation. It is, therefore, not an easy task to produce an accurate account of the theory. The aim of this article is basically to provide a brief and composite account of the inter-language theory. In so doing, some crucial issues are accordingly viewed: (1) error analysis, (2) stages of inter-language development, (3) inter-language transfer, (4) fossilization, (5) input hypothesis, (6) and pidginization as well. There is in fact considerable disagreement about how best to characterize the nature of an inter-language system. Nevertheless, this principle is able to account for insights provided by form-function analysis. Key words: interlanguage, input hypothesis, fossilization, pidginization

Abstract

Writing is the most advanced language skill. It must be honed frequently in order to become skilled in writing. This study used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method. PTK was conducted in 2 cycles and each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities. The sample in this study was class VII C SMPN 35 Bandar Lampung as many as 27 people. The results of the increase in grades and the number of students passing above KKM in the pre-cycle process were 13 students (48.1%) completed the learning, in cycle I 18 students (67%) completed the learning and cycle II as many as 24 students (89%) completed the learning.Keywords: PTK, PBL, Prosedur Text

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendekskipsikan dan menjabarkan bentuk dan fungsi tuturan muka positif dan muka negatif dalam novel Tahajud Cinta Rania berdasarkan perspektif ErvingGoffman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data novel berbahasa Indonesia yang bertema romansa dan berbalut religi dengan judul Tahajud Cinta Raniakarya ustadzah Mia Chuz dan ustadz Nasrullah. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode baca dan catat. Tahapan analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa bentuk tuturan muka positif meliputi perhatian, solidaritas, kesekoncoan, memberikan pertanyaan, meminta persetujuan, memberikan tawaran, meminta alasan, gurauan, optimis, dan memberikan hadiah. Sementara bentuk tuturan muka negatif yang tercermin pada kemarahan, meminta maaf, memberikan menghormati, dan menggunakan ketentuan yang bersifat umum. Fungsi muka positif ditunjukkan dengan rasa peduli, saling mengajak pada kebaikan, saling menguatkan, ingin mendapatkan jawaban, mendapatkan hasil terbaik, memberikan pilihan, mendapatkan penjelasan, saking bergurau dan menghibur, yakin, dan memberikan hal special. Sedangkan fungsi muka negatif tertuang ingin mendapatkan keadilan, mendapatkan penerimaan, saling menghormati, dan memperindah keadaan. Penelitian ini menyarankan kajian novel yang sama dalam perspektif yang berbeda, hingga memperkaya hazanah kajian sastra Indonesia. Kata kunci: Goffman, kesantunan bahasa, muka negatif, muka positif

Abstract

English as an international language has an important role in communication in the international sphere. This research is motivated by the lack of motivation to learn English in elementary school students and the difficulty of learning English vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of flashcard media in learning English vocabulary. In this study, a qualitative descriptive method was used with a sample of 28 students at Public Elementary School 3 Banjarwangi, Garut, West Java. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques, interviews, and a literature review. From this research, data was generated that the use of flashcard media in learning professional vocabulary could increase students' motivation to learn and improve their understanding of professional vocabulary material. Nonetheless, learning motivation and increased understanding of English vocabulary needs to be in line with interesting and effective learning strategies.Keyword: flashcards, vocabulary, English language, Elementary school

Abstract

The development of information technology in language learning has encouraged teachers to switch from traditional learning methods. One of the learning methods that utilize information technology is the flipped classroom method which combines learning methods in the classroom and outside the classroom. This method can also be applied in learning grammar. This study aims to identify the benefits and constraints of implementing the flipped classroom in teaching grammar in foreign language classes. This research is a literature review using the thematic literature review method. The data sources for this literature review are 29 research articles found in the Google Scholar, ResearchGate and FreeFullPDF databases based on keywords and criteria determined by the researchers. The results of the thematic literature review show that the application of the flipped classroom method has a positive impact on students' mastery of grammar, encourages teachers to be more creative in making materials, and makes students more independent, confident and active in class discussions. However, the implementation of this method has several obstacles, including the problem of internet network stability, the preparation of teaching materials which is quite time-consuming, and the difficulty of adapting the application of this method for both students and teachers.Keywords: Flipped classroom, grammar, thematic literature review

Abstract

Bahasa gaul adalah gaya bahasa yang sering digunakan di kalangan remaja karena perkembangan atau modifikasi dua bahasa atau lebih. Bahasa gaul yang sering digunakan remaja di media sosial memunculkan makna baru untuk kata-kata tertentu. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pergeseran makna yang terjadi pada kata cabut dan ambyar. Objek penelitian ini adalah pergeseran makna yang terjadi dalam bahasa Indonesia. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata atau kalimat yang mengandung kata cabut dan ambyar. Sumber data diperoleh dari media sosial, Twitter dan Instagram. Media sosial dipilih karena remaja banyak menggunakan bahasa gaul yang mengalami pergeseran makna. Teknis analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode agih. Metode agih digunakan untuk menganalisis data tertulis berkaitan dengan analisis pergeseran makna pada kata cabut dan ambyar. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa kata cabut tidak hanya digunakan untuk mendefinisikan kegiatan untuk menarik sesuatu dari akarnya. Kata cabutmengalami perluasan makna secara meluas digunakan untuk menyatakan ungkapan pergi atau berpindah dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Kata ambyar yang sering digunakan untuk mendefinisikan perasaan seseorang yang sedang patah hati. Kata ambyar dalam penelitian ini juga ditemukan makna kata baru dalam bidang kuliner. Kata ambyar termasuk mengalami pergeseran makna meluas karena memunculkan makna baru di bidang kuliner. Keywords: pergeseran makna, cabut, ambyar, perluasan makna

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to describe the process of forming the language environment in Mahad Sunan Ampel Al-Aly from a sociolinguistic perspective and describe the inhibiting factors for the formation of a linguistic environment in Mahad Sunan Ampel Al-Aly from the perspective of behavioral learning theory. In this writing, the writer uses a qualitative approach with descriptive writing types. There are three data collection tools used, namely: interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of writing are as follows: 1) The process of forming a language environment in Mahad Sunan Ampel Al-Aly in terms of sociolinguistics consists of memorizing vocabulary and assembling it into sentences, and getting used to using language in everyday life. 2) The inhibiting factors for the formation of the linguistic environment in Mahad Sunan Ampel Al-Aly in terms of sociolinguistics are environmental conditions that are still not supportive, many student activities are carried out outside the mahad. The author's suggestion for Mahad Sunan Ampel Al-Aly is that in order for the formation of the language environment to be more optimal, it is necessary to hold penalties for students who do not follow the rules that have been set. because basically language learning based on speaking skills depends on the habits of students to speak, a teacher must force his students to speak the language being studied. because by being forced, students will get used to it.Keywords: language learning, sociolinguistics, language environment

Abstract

One of language skills that students must to learn is writing. Writing has issues when put into practice. The challenges to the fulfillment of high-quality learning must be overcome. One of them is through picking and organizing a teaching strategy that might spark students' interest in writing. However, there are undoubtedly issues with its application that teachers must deal with. This study was carried out at SMP N 6 Kubung in the West Sumatra Province's Solok Regency. Worksheets for students, project-based learning implementation processes, and teacher learning resources make up the study's data. Teachers, students, and the teaching and learning process are the sources of data.The goal of writing is to describe the issues that teachers encounter. The method adopted is a qualitative descriptive approach, which describes the issues encountered when applying this model. The findings from the research are 1) the planning for implementing the learning model is constrained by funds and facilities; 2) The percentage level of some student activities is low; 3) student motivation and activeness that need to be improved. Applying this strategy can help you learn to create explanatory texts better because it enhances the learning experience. The cooperation of numerous stakeholders is necessary for the successful implementation of this concept. Schools give teachers with the auxiliary resources they require. Teachers must be able to establish trusting bonds with their charges.Keywords: application, model learning, project-based
