Abstract

This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences between French language and Indonesian language through a contrastive analysis approach focusing on phonology, morphology, and syntax. At the phonological level, the main differences lie in the vowel and consonant systems, nasalization, stress patterns, and the pronunciation of final sounds. In terms of morphology, French exhibits a complex inflectional system, including verb conjugation and grammatical marking of gender and number, whereas Indonesian tends to be agglutinative, employing affixation without significant morphological changes based on gender or number. Syntactically, both languages generally follow a Subject–Predicate–Object (SPO) structure; however, they differ in noun phrase structure, article usage, agreement, and adjective placement. The findings indicate that these structural differences may cause linguistic interference in foreign language learning, particularly for Indonesian learners of French. This research is expected to contribute to the field of contrastive linguistics and foreign language teaching.

Abstract

Knowing the importance of technology integration brings a new solution for extensive reading class. A multimodal extensive reading was implemented in order to monitor the students’ mental condition towards reading comprehension. Considering multiple analysis on multimodal approach implementations in second language classroom, this current study connects it in extensive reading in order to investigate how students’ affective attitudes towards reading comprehension are shown among students participating in a multimodal extensive reading. The study was designed as quantitative research. The participants were 15 undergraduate students who enrolled in an extensive reading in a private university in Semarang. A closed-ended questionnaire was used to collect the data. Then it was analyzed statistically through SPSS to get the result. The result of the study has revealed that the students showed their affective attitudes positively towards reading comprehension in a multimodal extensive reading. It was proved from the statistical analysis results that 2 statements received 80% strongly agree responses; 2 statements were 73.3% responded as strongly agreed; 2 statements were 66.7% responded as strongly agreed; and 4 statements were 60% responded as strongly agreed. The students show positive attitudes towards reading comprehension as the feeling on multimodal extensive reading implementation.

Abstract

This study explores the development of growth mindset among Muslim student leaders in the IOU Indonesia Student Committee (SC). Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through written interviews and open-ended questionnaires with 20 board members. Thematic analysis revealed three core themes: Faith-Based Mindset (100%), where all participants grounded resilience and leadership identity in Islamic values such as amanah, tawakkul, and sabr; Leadership as Learning (85%), in which most participants described leadership as an iterative process of mistakes, feedback, and improvement; and Community Support (65%), emphasizing mentorship, peer encouragement, and collective growth as significant sources of resilience. Findings suggest that leadership is deeply constructed through spirituality, strengthened by experiential learning, and sustained by community ties. This integration underscores the importance of culturally and spiritually grounded approaches to fostering resilient and adaptive student leadership.

Abstract

Perceived social support is needed by adolescents to prevent mental health problems and achieve the expected well-being. The absence of social support, whether from parents, teachers, and friends, has an impact on individual feelings and emotions. The urgency of perceived social support for adolescent life requires a valid and reliable instrument to measure the condition of adolescent social support. The purpose of this study was to produce a valid and reliable social support scale for high school students (KraS-DS) using the Rasch model. The quantitative research method used the Rasch Model to evaluate the KraS-DS instrument to ensure its validity and reliability. Participants were 212 adolescents attending high schools in Karanganyar District. Data were collected through a survey using a paper and pencil test. The results of the analysis showed that (1) the person reliability and item reliability of the social support scale can be said to be good, meaning that the items and responses from respondents were quite consistent; (2) item number X4 is the item that has the highest level of difficulty or is difficult to agree with; (3) the function of the rating scale on the social support scale has worked well; and (4) the item discrimination power on the social support scale can be said to be good, even though items 7 and 8 do not fit the Rasch model.
