Abstract

Abstract; This research focuses on the epistemological anarchist thought of Paul Feyerabend and its implications for Islamic thought. He believes that science should not be stagnant and should not be falsified to test its truth. The author uses descriptive-analytical analysis with library research data which then results in the conclusion that in Islamic Thought Feyerabend's epistemological theory of anarchism offers an interesting perspective for understanding Islamic thought. By emphasizing plurality, ijtihad, and criticism of dogmatism, Feyerabend provides inspiration for Muslims to develop an understanding of religion that is more dynamic and relevant to the times. Keywords: Anarchism; Islamic Thought; Paul Feyerabend.   Abstrak; Penelitian ini fokus pada pemikiran anarkis epistemologis Paul Feyerabend dan Implikasinya terhadap Pemikiran Islam. Ia beranggapan bahwa ilmu pengetahuan itu tidak boleh bersifat stagnan dan tidak harus difalsifikasi untuk menguji kebenarannya. Penulis menggunakan deskriptif-analitis dengan data library research yang kemudian menghasilkan simpulan bahwa dalam Pemikiran Islam teori anarkisme epistemologis Feyerabend menawarkan perspektif yang menarik untuk memahami pemikiran Islam. Dengan menekankan pluralitas, ijtihad, dan kritik terhadap dogmatisme, Feyerabend memberikan inspirasi bagi umat Islam untuk mengembangkan pemahaman agama yang lebih dinamis dan relevan dengan zaman. Abstract

Abstract This article aims to discuss the theological thinking of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari in the context of social nationality. The social-national theology can be traced in Jihad Resolution, Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi and theological criticism in some of his works. The method in this research is the critical analysis method, which is to examine the concept of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari's socio-national theology in these works. The urgency of this research is to review the theological thinking of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari in the social and national context so that there is a need to recontextualize Islamic thought based on tawhid and the social-national context taken from the scientific tradition of Indonesian scholars themselves. The findings of this article are: First, the social-national theology of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari in the Jihad Resolution, Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi and theological criticism in the works show the external side of anti-colonialism, and the internal side of the unity of Muslims, Second, the social-national theology of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari shows that Ahlusunnah wal Jama'ah theology in the socio-religious and political-national context can be a relevant theological concept building used to answer contemporary national problems today, especially in terms of unity in the frame of nationality and a vision of humanity based on religion. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam konteks sosial kebangsaan. Teologi sosial-kebangsaan tersebut dapat dilacak dalam Resolusi Jihad, Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi dan kritik teologis dalam beberapa karyanya. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis kritis, yakni untuk menelaah konsep teologi sosial-kebangsaan KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam karya-karya tersebut. Urgensi penelitian ini adalah meninjau kembali pemikiran teologis dari KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam konteks sosial dan kebangsaan sehingga perlu adanya rekontekstualisasi pemikiran Islam yang berbasiskan pada tauhid dan konteks sosial-kebangsaan yang diambil dari tradisi keilmuan ulama-ulama Indonesia itu sendiri. Hasil temuan dari artikel ini yakni: Pertama, teologi sosial-kebangsaan KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam Resolusi Jihad, Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi dan kritik teologis dalam karya-karya menujukkan sisi eksternal yang anti kolonialisme, dan sisi internal pada persatuan umat Islam, Kedua, teologi sosial-kebangsaan KH. Hasyim Asy’ari menunjukkan bahwa teologi Ahlusunnah wal Jama’ah dalam konteks sosial-keagamaan dan politik-kebangsaan dapat menjadi bangunan konsep teologis yang relevan digunakan untuk menjawab problem kebangsaan kontemporer saat ini khususnya dalam hal persatuan dalam bingkai kebangsaan dan visi kemanusiaan berbasis pada keagamaan. Abstract

Abstract; The interpretation of philosophical texts is always closely tied to social, historical, cultural, and biographical contexts, which influence how these texts are understood and accepted by readers. This study aims to analyze the role of texts and context in philosophical interpretation, as well as how their interaction gives rise to the diversity of existing schools of thought. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research analyzes philosophical texts from various intellectual traditions, both Western and Eastern, through an in-depth literature review. The findings of the study show that although philosophical texts contain profound and universal meanings, they can be interpreted in different ways depending on the social, political, and cultural context of the reader, resulting in various philosophical schools such as rationalism, empiricism, existentialism, and others. Academically, this research contributes to enriching the study of philosophy, particularly in understanding the dynamics of diverse text interpretations, as well as their relevance in religious and social studies. The study also emphasizes the importance of understanding context in reading philosophical texts to obtain a more contextual and inclusive understanding of the development of philosophical thought. Keywords: Context; Interpretation; Philosophical Texts; Schools of Philosophy.   Abstrak; Penafsiran teks filsafat selalu terikat erat dengan konteks sosial, sejarah, budaya, dan biografis, yang memengaruhi cara teks tersebut dimaknai dan diterima oleh pembaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran teks dan konteks dalam penafsiran filsafat, serta bagaimana interaksi keduanya melahirkan keragaman mazhab pemikiran yang ada. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis teks-teks filsafat dari berbagai tradisi pemikiran, baik dari Barat maupun Timur, melalui kajian pustaka yang mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teks filsafat, meskipun mengandung makna yang mendalam dan universal, dapat ditafsirkan secara berbeda-beda bergantung pada konteks sosial, politik, dan budaya pembaca, yang menghasilkan perbedaan aliran filsafat seperti rasionalisme, empirisme, eksistensialisme, dan sebagainya.  Secara akademik, penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memperkaya kajian filsafat, khususnya dalam memahami dinamika interpretasi teks yang beragam, serta relevansinya dalam studi keagamaan dan sosial. Penelitian ini juga menggarisbawahi pentingnya memahami konteks dalam pembacaan teks filsafat untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih kontekstual dan inklusif terhadap perkembangan pemikiran filosofis. Abstract

Abstract   : The global ecological crisis has become a real threat due to the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. This study aims to explore the contribution of Islamic theology in shaping ecological awareness through the concepts of khalifah (stewardship), mīzān (balance), and maṣlaḥah (public interest). The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach to Qur’anic verses and scientific interpretations. Based on the results, Islam is a religion of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin (mercy to all creation) which teaches balance and forbids all forms of environmental destruction. These teachings are highly relevant in addressing the challenges of today's ecological crisis. Therefore, a theological approach based on Islamic values can be an important alternative in efforts to overcome environmental damage caused by anthropocentric paradigms and modern exploitation. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji kontribusi teologi Islam dalam membentuk kesadaran ekologis melalui pendekatan konsep khalifah, mizan, dan maṣlaḥah. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dengan pendekatan kualitatif terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an dan tafsir-tafsir ilmiah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, Islam adalah agama yang Rahmatan lil 'alamin. mengajarkan keseimbangan dan larangan terhadap segala bentuk kerusakan lingkungan. Ajaran ini sangat relevan dalam menanggapi tantangan krisis ekologi masa kini. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan teologis berbasis nilai Islam dapat menjadi alternatif penting dalam upaya mengatasi kerusakan lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh paradigma antroposentris dan eksploitasi modern. Abstract

Abstract The debate over ikhtiyār (free will) and divine predestination has long occupied a central place in Islamic theological discourse, supported by various Qur’anic verses and prophetic traditions that seem to affirm both positions. This study aims to compare the perspectives of Ash‘arite theology and Ibn ‘Arabi’s Sufi thought regarding the relationship between human will and divine decree. The research employs a comparative analytical method using a library-based approach. The findings reveal that Al-Ash‘ari explains human agency through the concept of kasb (acquisition), which situates human actions within the overarching will of God. Meanwhile, Ibn ‘Arabi approaches the issue through the concept of ḥukm (divine determination), emphasizing that all human actions unfold within the scope of God’s ontological decree. Both scholars critique the notion of absolute free will and lean more strongly toward predestination. These insights contribute to a more balanced understanding of the interplay between human freedom and divine will in Islamic theology. Keywords: Al-Ash'ari; Free Will; Ibn 'Arabi; Predestination

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the integration between natural sciences and the science of tawḥīd in al-Jawāhir fī Tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-Karīm, the seminal Qur’anic exegesis of Imam Tantawi Jauhari. Using a qualitative approach through library research, this paper explores how Jauhari constructs an epistemological relationship between natural phenomena (āyāt kauniyyah) and divine unity (tawḥīd). The findings reveal that Jauhari views the universe as an interconnected and harmonious system (waḥdāniyyat al-‘ālam), reflecting the oneness and wisdom of the Creator (waḥdāniyyat al-wujūd). He asserts that observing and reflecting upon the universe constitutes a form of intellectual devotion that strengthens faith and deepens spiritual awareness of God’s majesty. Through his interpretive method, Jauhari not only bridges the Qur’an and modern science but also offers an integrative paradigm that unites reason, revelation, and the cosmic order within a single framework of tawḥīd. This study concludes that al-Jawāhir represents an epistemological model of Islamic knowledge, positioning scientific inquiry as a pathway to a deeper understanding of the Divine. Abstract

Abstract This research discusses Jabariyah and Qadariyah thoughts in the qaḍā' and qadar discourse. The skewed implications of the concepts of qaḍā' and qadar from the Jabariyah and Qadariyah discourses are a problem in this research. The difference with previous studies is that it places more emphasis on discourses of thought that develop epistemologically. This research method is library research using a descriptive analysis approach. The findings of this research show that Jabariyah thinking in matters of qaḍā' and qadar leads to placing humans bound by the will of Allah. Qadariyah thinking in matters of qaḍā' and qadar leads to placing humans separately from the will of Allah. The synthesis of Jabariyah thought discourse as thesis and Qadariyah thought as the antithesis is Allah determines human destiny from the very beginning, but humans also have a role in making it happen through effort. The recommendation on the findings of this study has implications for subsequent studies, namely not only analyzing the conceptual aspects of a problem, but emphasizing the analysis of applicable ideas to address the problem comprehensively. Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes the methodological principles of the Zahiri school of thought in determining the perfection of prayer rak'ahs, focusing on their literalist approach to understanding the texts. Through comparative textual analysis, this study examines the fundamental differences between the Zahiri methodology and the majority school of jurists in interpreting Islamic evidence related to prayer procedures. The research findings indicate that while the majority school of thought uses a contextual approach and analogical reasoning (qiyās), the Zahiri school consistently adheres to the literal meaning of the text and rejects interpretations beyond the literal meaning. This study highlights the relevance of this methodological debate in contemporary Islamic jurisprudence discourse, particularly in addressing issues of worship not explicitly regulated in the texts. The study concludes that understanding this methodological comparison is crucial for enriching the literature on modern Islamic legal interpretation. Abstract

Abstract This study examines the relationship between the Javanese philosophy of Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono and the concept of balance (al-mīzān) in Islamic eco-theology as reflected in Surah Ar-Rahman, verses 6–10. Using a qualitative approach based on library research through content and comparative analysis, this study explores how Islamic teachings and Javanese wisdom provide guidance in maintaining environmental balance. The results show a harmony between the two in affirming human responsibility to care for nature, maintain the balance of life, and avoid excessive and wasteful attitudes. The synthesis of these values produces an ethical framework relevant to modern environmental issues such as waste management and ecological degradation, particularly in Yogyakarta. The novelty of this research lies in the revelation of the conceptual relationship between Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono and al-mīzān in shaping a society's character based on spiritual and cultural values. This research contributes to the development of a new paradigm of Islamic eco-theology integrated with local philosophy, while strengthening environmental conservation efforts through moral, religious, and cultural approaches.
