Abstract

The main objective of this activity is to introduce the local insect fauna and its ecological function to the children of Yombe Yawa Nature School Datum Rhepang Muaif Village using fun methods, namely Exploring the Natural Environment (JAS), telling stories and playing insect fauna educational puzzles to increase their intelligence. This activity was carried out on September 7 2024 at the Yombe Yawa Datum Nature School, Rhepang Muaif Village, Nimbokrang, Jayapura-Papua involving 25 participants from representatives of early childhood/pre-school, elementary school grades 1–6, junior high school grades 1–3 and SMA class 1. The activity began with providing material regarding an introduction to the biodiversity of insect fauna in general in Papua. After that, we continued by inviting the children to walk to explore the natural surroundings, starting from the school yard, garden, river to the footpath in the tourist forest area, while observing the various insect fauna encountered along the exploration. To evaluate the results of the service, activities were carried out such as pre-test, post-test, and playing insect fauna puzzles to test children's memory for insect fauna that had been introduced previously. The results show that there is an increase in children's knowledge about insect fauna. Children are able to recognize several local insect faunas that are unique to their area, as well as understand the ecological role of insect fauna in the environment and develop a sense of love for the insect fauna around them. From this level of understanding, the character of caring for insect fauna begins to form and an attitude of wanting to protect the environment emerges.  Keywords: Insect; JAS method; Naturalist Intelligence; Rhepang Muaif

Abstract

Social engineering is a cyber crime that involves the perpetrator using an individual's mistake or carelessness to steal important confidential data or information such as personal information, passwords, financial data, or accessing a computer system in an unauthorized way. Perpetrators usually use psychological tricks so they can easily trick other people and make others unaware even through communication tools because the perpetrators take advantage of someone's reaction when planning their attack. This outreach activity with the title "Education on the Dangers of Social Engineering Crime Modes" was carried out at Abepura Adventist Elementary and Middle School with the target participants being school children and teenagers. This outreach activity is carried out with the target of school children to provide an understanding of the dangers of the social engineering crime mode and the various actions that need to be taken so that we avoid the social engineering crime mode, as well as legal steps that can be taken if we are caught in the social engineering crime mode. During the activity, the enthusiasm of the participants was visible, especially when providing responses during the question and answer session at the end of the activity. It is hoped that this activity will be useful for the participants so that they can act as a relay for other communities to spread and understand the dangers of the social engineering information crime mode, and also as an indirectly useful effort to protect the people in Jayapura City. Abstract

The community service activity in the Kasembon area was focused on the community of Sukosari Village, Kasembon District, which has significant potential in product development through local SMEs. However, the lack of knowledge and skills in halal production and certification has become an obstacle. Therefore, this activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of business actors in halal product processes and slaughtering techniques. The methods used include site surveys, involving the Kasembon Business Destination Association (PADUKA), followed by education and mentoring. The activity was attended by 20 participants, consisting of business actors and prospective halal slaughterers. Based on the results, it can be concluded that education/presentation increased the participants' knowledge, motivation, and interest in implementing halal product processes and certification in Kasembon SMEs. The participants' initial knowledge regarding halal product process criteria was quite good, but many were still unaware of the differences between self-declaration and regular certification, the Halal Product Assurance System Manual Document, halal slaughtering processes, and marketing strategies. With counseling and training, participants' knowledge and awareness increased significantly. As a result, participants' understanding increased from 15-60% to 30-50%, with a satisfaction rate of 50% being very satisfied, 45% satisfied, and 75% committed to following up, developing, and supporting halal product certification in Kasembon. Abstract

Teachers as the driving force in implementing the curriculum are expected to be creative, innovative, and skilled in learning and able to use technology to support continuous improvement of quality and improvement of learning practices. The chemical properties of compounds in food ingredients are known to be able to be used as tools or samples in the implementation of science (science) practicums. Introduction to natural resources, including food ingredients, which are in the school environment or students' homes as part of the learning experience from the environment and as objects in learning projects for teachers is considered important to do. The purpose of this activity is to provide teachers with an introduction and experience about the use of food ingredients in science learning, especially in biology and chemistry (science) studies. Teachers are the first party to benefit from this activity. Furthermore, together with teachers as facilitators, students, in the form of learning projects, can learn through their direct experiences using materials around them. The implementation of community service is carried out using two methods, namely the socialization method and the training method. Socialization is carried out to introduce the characteristics of food ingredients, namely butterfly pea flowers, red spinach, bread yeast, pineapple and coconut milk. The training is intended to provide direct experience to teachers so that they can be implemented in science learning in their respective schools. Abstract

The catch from fishermen in the Hamadi village is currently sold fresh at the beach or taken to the Hamadi Fish Auction Place (TPI) for sale. The most abundant catch is yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares). Based on interviews with the fishermen's wives in Hamadi Village, the main issues they face are a lack of skills and technology, as well as tools and materials for processing fish products. During the fish abundance season, the fishermen's wives sell fish at lower prices due to a lack of knowledge about fish product processing and limited raw materials. The target of this activity is the fishermen's wives in Hamadi Village. The proposed solution is to conduct training on making tuna chips using moringa leaves as an additional ingredient. The community service activity took place on August 14, 2024, and was attended by 15 participants. The methods used were socialization and training (demonstration). The outcome of this community service activity was that participants gained knowledge and experience about the process of processing yellowfin tuna into fish chips (80%).  Keywords: JAS Fishermen's wives; Hamadi; Chips Moringa; Tuna
