Abstract

Many people experience dental caries, but they delay treatment, such as dental fillings. The general public is not yet motivated to make dental caries fillings. Based on the results of the initial examination conducted by researchers from 15 people who have caries in the bad category 66.6% and 33.3% good category based on interviews, information was obtained from 15 people who have not patched because of fear of illness later. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between community motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet Village, Darul Kamal District. This type of research is analytic. The design used is cross sectional. Sampling by random sampling. The research location is Lamkunyet village. The number of respondents is 86 people. The results showed that intrinsic motivation p value = 0.00 (<0.05) means that there is a relationship between community intrinsic motivation regardi ng dental fillings. Extrinsic motivation p value = 0.048 (<0.05) means that there is a relationship between extrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal District. It was concluded that there was a relationship between community intrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal sub-district. There is a relationship between extrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal Subdistrict, it is suggested to people who have never done or have done patches in order to increase their motivation to do carious dental fillings to sustain further damage.

Abstract

Oral hygiene is one of the actions needed to keep the mouth from infection, clean and freshen the mouth. Awareness of maintaining dental and oral hygiene is very necessary as an effort to prevent dental and oral health problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between behavior and oral hygiene in fifth grade students at SDN Alue, Aceh Besar District. The research used is an analytical method with a cross sectional study design approach. The population in this study were all fifth graders at SDN Alue, totaling 40 respondents. The analysis carried out is univariate and bivariate analysis using chi-square statistical test. The results showed that from 40 respondents, it was found that knowledge of dental and oral health maintenance in the poor category was 21 respondents (52.5%), attitudes in the poor category were 23 respondents (57.5%), actions in the poor category were 25 respondents (62.5%). Dental and oral health maintenance behavior as knowledge (P=0.001), attitude (P=0.001) and action (P=0.002). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between dental and oral health maintenance behavior with oral hygiene in fifth grade students at SDN Alue, Aceh Besar District. It is recommended for students to improve their behavior in maintaining their own oral and dental health.

Abstract

Economic status is the position of a person or family in society based on monthly income.  The socio-economic level can affect the degree of knowledge, lifestyle, and access to health information and services.  The socioeconomic level also affects the family's ability to meet the needs of food intake and healthy lifestyle habits.  Several factors involved in socioeconomic is work, income and education.  The initial examination of dental caries conducted by researchers on 15 people in Cureh Village found that 12 of them had high criteria, namely 5.1 and 3 d low criteria, namely 1.4.  The study aimed to determine the relationship between socioeconomic level and caries status in the community of Cureh Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency in 2022. This research is analytical with a cross-sectional design.  The population in this study is the entire Cureh village community, totalling 394 people.  The research sample was determined using a random sampling technique totalling 79 people.  The research was carried out in Cureh Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar District on 5-10 January 2022. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires, diagnostic sets, and patient status cards. The results showed that with low income there was a high number of dental caries experienced by 32 respondents (52,45%).  The results of statistical tests obtained the results of p.  Value 0.001 indicates < α 0.05. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between socioeconomic level (income) and dental caries.  It is hoped that the community will increase knowledge by seeking information about dental health from information media such as posters, advertisements, television, magazines, and newspapers, and changing maintenance behaviour such as brushing teeth regularly and checking teeth every 6 months at the dentist or health centre and consuming nutritious and fibrous food.

Abstract

Persistence is a deciduous tooth that has not yet fallen out in time so that the fixed tooth begins to erupt, then the fixed tooth will look for the direction of the decidui tooth that has been removed, if the decidui tooth is not removed it will cause the tooth to cram and malocclusions in the replacement tooth, in the growth of the child's teeth requires the attention and knowledge of parents about the growth period of the child's teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parents' knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth with the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo, Banda Aceh City. This research method is analytical with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique is the Total Population, which is 36 students and their parents. This research was conducted from 02 to 09 February 2022. The results of the study with the chi-square statistical test, namely there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth and the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo Banda Aceh City with p-value = 0.006 (p<0.05). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between parents' knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth and the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo, Banda Aceh City. It is recommended to parents increase their knowledge about dental persistence through counselling carried out by health workers and so on, to parents of students whose children experience persistence so that tooth extraction is immediately carried out.

Abstract

The proportion of Indonesians who have dental and oral problems at the age of 55-64 years is 61.9% and the age of >65 years is 54.2%. As well as the proportion of daily brushing behaviour, namely 94.7% and 2.8% have brushed their teeth twice a day. The problem of this study is the high prevalence of debris index in older adults in Tambak Wedi Baru Surabaya. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between of knowledge how to brush teeth and debris index in the older adults at Tambak Wedi Baru Surabaya. The type of research is cross-sectional with the number of respondents being 50 older adults. Research method by filling out observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is by tapping the results of data that has been collected and presented in the form of tables. The results showed that there is a relationship between knowing how to brush teeth with dental hygiene in older adults.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a requirement to determine whether a person is in a healthy state which is influenced by several factors, namely diet and adequacy of nutrients to carry out a normal metabolism. Some nutrients that can affect the growth and development of tooth eruption time include the large intake of vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, and flour in the body. Deficiencies in nutrients can inhibit the process of tooth growth and development and slow down the time of tooth eruption. Tooth eruption is the process of moving teeth from the jawbone towards the oral cavity. Tooth eruption can be influenced by several factors, one of which is the nutritional status which is the state of the body as a result of food consumption and the use of nutrients. The purpose of this study was to elaborate on the relationship of nutritional status with permanent tooth eruptions in children of primary school age (6-12 years). This type of research uses a type of literature study research. Journal searches were conducted from 2017-2022 on Google Scholar and Pubmed databases in Indonesian and English. Journal search strategies use the keywords "permanent tooth eruption" and "nutritional status". Journals are selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria that will be reviewed. Based on the results of the literature review in 6 journals, it can be concluded that 4 journals state that there is a relationship between nutritional status and permanent tooth eruption in children of primary school age (6-12 years). Therefore, it is important to understand by health workers to improve nutrition programs in children and for parents to pay more attention to nutrition in children so as not to experience disturbances in the permanent tooth eruption process.

Abstract

Halitosis is an oral health condition characterized by continuous unpleasant breath odour. The causes of halitosis can be of both intraoral and extraoral origin. Public knowledge about halitosis is needed because it can help in preventing and dealing with halitosis. The purpose of this study is to find out an overview of public knowledge about the causes and treatment of halitosis. This research uses the literature study method, namely the method of collecting library data, reading and recording, and managing research materials. Based on the results of literature reviews in 8 journals, it can be concluded that the picture of knowledge about halitosis and its treatment in the community is relatively moderate. People know that halitosis is a poor oral health condition characterized by an unpleasant breath odour. People know that halitosis comes from poor oral hygiene as well as systemic diseases, halitosis can be treated by brushing your teeth, consuming fresh fruit and using mouthwash.

Abstract

Background: Mentally retarded children are identified as having a low level of intelligence. Mentally retarded children are one of the criteria with the most people who are vulnerable to exposure to disease. Mental retardation usually has a higher prevalence of caries, gingivitis and periodontal disease compared to children of the same age. The 2018 Riskesdas results explain that the proportion of dental and oral problems in Indonesia has increased from 23.2% in 2007 to 57.6%, so counselling is needed for dental and oral health with aids or media that can attract children's interest. Research Objectives: To know the effectiveness of video media in increasing knowledge about caries in children with mild mental retardation at Putra Mandiri SLB. Research Methods: Using a Quasi-Experimental design with a Control Group Pre-Test – Post-Test design. Data analysis: Using a simple random sampling technique or taking samples from the population taken randomly with a population of 25 students and a sample of 24 students. Data Collection Method: Observing the results of counselling with video media in increasing caries knowledge in children with mild mental retardation using a questionnaire. Research Results: There is a significant effect of providing video media interventions on increasing the knowledge of mentally retarded children. Conclusion: Health education with video media about dental caries is effective in increasing the knowledge of children with mild mental retardation.

Abstract

Dental caries is a multifactorial disease, covering the main factors of teeth, microorganisms, carbohydrates and time as additional factors. One of the factors causing the susceptibility of school-age children to dental caries is the habit of consuming foods that are sticky and contain sugar. The problem in this study is the high rate of dental caries in grade II students of SDN Mojo VIII/227 Surabaya. This study aims to determine the relationship between the frequency of cariogenic food consumption and the number of dental caries in grade II students at SDN Mojo VIII/227 Surabaya. This type of research is cross-sectional analytics. The sample in this study was 40 people, and it was taken by purposive sampling. The method of collecting its data uses a questionnaire. The analysis technique uses Kendall's test. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between the frequency of cariogenic food consumption and the number of dental caries in grade II students at SDN Mojo VIII / 227 Surabaya.

Abstract

Socioeconomic status is one of the factors that affect the health status of the community or family. The economic level of a family will have a major influence on the sustainability of family members, both from the level of education and health. High socio-economic groups of people can access health services and take care of their family's health properly, on the contrary, people who are in low socio-economic groups tend to give priority to fulfilling their needs. daily needs rather than thinking about maintaining health and getting good health services. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between economic status and motivation for dental treatment in the New Normal Era in Sukarami Village, RT.03 Method: This research is an analytical survey research with a cross-sectional approach using a simple random sampling technique, carried out in February March 2022, The community of RT 03 in Sukarami sub-district as many as 100 people, the data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: In the univariate test, 41 respondents (41.0%) had a high economic status, a little compared to 59 (59.0%) respondents who had a low economic status. Meanwhile, 48 people had high motivation for dental treatment (48). %) is less than respondents who have low motivation as many as 52 people (52.09%). In the statistical test, the P-value = 0.000 <0.05 means that there is a significant relationship between economic status and motivation for dental treatment. dental treatment in the new normal era
