Abstract

Short stories as a form of literary work provide various inspirations and views on life. The various imaginative things that are channeled can then provide various experiences for the reader. The aim of the research is a scientific journal article that analyzes the ethics of the characters in the September 2023 edition of the Jawa Pos short story collection. The method used is qualitative research. The data taken is short stories from the Jawa Pos newspaper in September 2023 and several poems. Next, collect data, analyze, and interpret the data and draw conclusions. The research results show that the data findings obtained are as follows; show respect for others, do not look down on others, behave politely, respect differences of opinion, help others in need. So, in the end, studying short stories can provide life lessons related to ethics.

Abstract

One of the factors that influences subjective well-being in working students is their ability to divide their time, attention and energy equally between studies, personal life and work. This research aims to determine the subjective well-being picture of students who work at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. This research is quantitative research. The population of this study were all FKIP students at Syiah Kuala University who studied while working. This research sample consisted of 73 students, with a sampling technique using total sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of 36 statement items. The results of the research show that the average subjective well-being picture for students working at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, is 50.7%, which is in the high category. So it can be concluded that the average student who works at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, already has a high subjective well-being..

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) categorization of corruption metaphors in Indonesian on online news portals, (2) conceptual mapping of corruption metaphors in Indonesian on online news portals. This type of research is qualitative research. Researchers categorize metaphors using embodiment theory, which is the theory of uniting physical experience with human cognition proposed by Lakoff and Johnson. The results of the study show that there are seven categories of corruption metaphors in Indonesian on online news portals. The seven categorizations are corruption as a journey, corruption as a power, corruption as food, corruption as an enemy, corruption as a plant, corruption as a disease, and corruption as an object. In addition to these categories, there are also subcategories of corruption as power, namely corruption as natural power and corruption as psychological power. Then, it was also found that there were also subcategories of corruption as objects, namely corruption as a building and corruption as a tool, conceptual mapping of corruption metaphors in Indonesian ahasa on online news portals has been carried out in the categories of corruption as a journey, corruption as a force with subcategories of natural power and psychological power, corruption as food, corruption as an enemy, corruption as a plant, corruption as a disease, and corruption as an object with a subcategory of buildings and tools. All of these categories have been equipped with a conceptual mapping model which is shown by the semantic characteristics mapped between the target domain and the source domain along with explanations.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of WhatsApp social media in students' language politeness, violations of the principle of student language politeness and students' use of language in association in the environment of SMA Negeri 1 Seririt. The design of this study is qualitative descriptive. This research uses observation, interview, documentation and record methods. The data analysis techniques of this research are, data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that there was a tendency to use emoticons/emojis intensively, shortcomings in the use of punctuation and the use of informal language with abbreviations or slang on WhatsApp social media. There are 20 types of data classified as violations of the principle of politeness in Leech which include violations of the maxim of wisdom, maxim of generosity, maxim of appreciation, maxim of simplicity, maxim of compatibility and maxim of sympathy. There are forms of students' use of language in school from the choice of words, sentence structure, and different levels of formality.

Abstract

Technology is frequently utilized in modern classrooms to enrich the learning experience and facilitate diverse educational phenomena. In this age of technology, it is not uncommon to see technology used in almost every aspect of human life. Monotonous and old-fashioned teaching and learning activities make technology a fascinating aspect for teachers and even more so for students. Especially when technology is combined as an exciting and educational game that makes students feel a pleasant learning environment. DGBL (Digital Game-Based Learning) is a method that can be recommended to teachers. DGBL is a learning method that combines a fun learning method using games and technology. Students like technology especially when combined with games, which can excite them when learning. In this study, the researcher will explore how teachers from various subjects perceive using DGBL in their teaching and learning process. The quantitative data gathered from the respondents were analyzed through SPSS software. The findings indicate that teachers prefer using technological devices for better outcomes in the teaching and learning process. Teachers found that using game-based learning in their classrooms made students more engaged and motivated. This led to a better overall learning experience.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the project-based learning model on concept understanding and there is an effect of the project-based learning model on the critical thinking ability of students in journalistic training activities. Quasi-experimental research design, with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest group design model, 70 research subjects divided into experimental and control groups. The results showed that both data were statistically normally distributed, the data were statistically homogeneous, and the results of the hypothesis testing of both data showed a significant effect. The conclusion informs that there is an effect of project-based learning model on concept understanding and there is an effect of project-based learning model on students' critical thinking ability in journalism training activities.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the historical background and value of character education in the novel "Perburuan" by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and its relevance to literature learning in schools. This research is qualitative descriptive research using a literary sociology approach. The data source is the novel "Perburuan" by Pramoedya Ananta Tour, and several references are related to the study of the novel. The data collection technique is done through document analysis, namely analyzing various documents to formulate the research problem. Data analysis uses flow model analysis with stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The research results show that the historical setting in the novel studied can be used as a historical document containing the struggle of the Indonesian people against the Japanese colonialists. The novel contains three historical settings: the Japanese occupation of Indonesia, the PETA rebellion, and the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The novel "Perburuan" contains four character education values: religious values, the value of national spirit or nationalism, the value of love for the homeland, and the value of love of peace. These character education values need to be taught to students through literature learning. The expected result of character education through literature learning is the formation of individuals who behave nobly based on character and example, reflected in students' daily behavior.

Abstract

Leadership and organizational culture include elements that shape and support individuals in achieving set goals, which in turn affect the overall success of the organization. This study intends to identify the impact of transformational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance. For this study, the sample was 120 staff from three universities and the results were obtained through SPSS (26). The research instrument uses quantitative methods, while data analysis techniques include validity, reliability, classical assumption tests, normality, heteroscedasticity, autocorrelation, multicollinearity, t test and multiple regression. The results showed that with the acceptance of the first hypothesis results, it means that transformational leadership (X1) has an effect on staff performance (Y), indicating that this leadership style has a positive impact on the ability of staff to achieve organizational goals. Acceptance of the second hypothesis shows that organizational culture (X2) significantly affects staff performance (Y) positively. This indicates that the values, norms, and practices contained in the organizational culture have an important role in shaping the performance of the staff.

Abstract

Basically, every educational institution has a certain vision and mission that must be achieved. To achieve each goal, it encourages educational institutions to maximize the performance of teachers in achieving organizational goals. However, the existence of deviant leadership behavior outside of authority can be an obstacle in achieving organizational goals. This can occur because such behavior is deliberately done to disrupt the smooth running of the organization and justice in the work environment is increasingly recognized as an important factor in achieving optimal performance. This study is intended to examine how leadership behavior and organizational justice in higher education affect lecturers' performance behavior. Using 100 respondents from higher education institutions in Surabaya, leadership behavior and organizational culture were examined for their impact on lecturer performance. The method of analysis applied in this study is a quantitative approach using multiple regression, with validity and reliability testing of each variable in question as well as classical assumption tests before the best research model is obtained. All results support the effects studied. Leadership behavior and organizational justice have a real impact on lecturer performance. These findings are consistent with the proposed hypothesis, confirming the importance of the role of leaders and a fair organizational culture in improving lecturer performance.

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is an important foundation in education, which affects students' abilities in various fields of science. This study aims to identify research trends in understanding mathematical concepts from 2015 to 2024 through bibliometric analysis, mapping the main topics, methods, and significant results achieved. Using the Dimensions AI database, we collected and analyzed 450 publications with a descriptive analysis approach. VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel tools are used for collaborative network visualization, keyword analysis, and descriptive statistics. The results of the study show an increase in the number of publications and citations until 2022, with a decrease in 2023 and 2024. The most prolific writer is Nanang Supriadi, but Aan Putra has the greatest impact based on the number of citations. The most influential journal is Education at a Glance. The novelty keyword analysis identified key clusters, including technology use, STEM approaches, global education policy, teacher skills development, and mathematical literacy. In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the development of mathematical concept understanding research, highlighting the importance of technology integration, STEM approaches, and teacher professional development to improve the quality of mathematics education in the future.
