Abstract

This study examines how a modern Islamic boarding school’s English vocabulary delivery model is used in a boarding based Vocational School. The study aimed to describe the model's use, its benefits, and students' learning processes in vocational education. To investigate this, a qualitative case study was used. Data was collected through class observation, interviews, and documents from SMKS IT Manahilul Irfan in North Aceh, Indonesia. The findings reveal that boarding-school learning practices such as daily vocabulary routines, peer-assisted learning, and the establishment of an English-speaking environment, substantially enhance students’ vocabulary development and communicative confidence. The dormitory context provides continuous language exposure and frequent opportunities for authentic interaction, thereby strengthening both students’ linguistic competence and character formation. Teachers reported that this learning model effectively motivates students and fosters discipline, although challenges remain, such as limited instructional time and varying proficiency levels among learners. Therefore, integrating contemporary boarding-school pedagogical approaches with vocational education offers a comprehensive and contextually relevant framework for vocabulary learning. This integration not only improves students’ English proficiency but also cultivates moral values, self-regulation, and responsibility, thereby contributing to curriculum innovation and offering practical insights for character-oriented language education

Abstract

The growing use of digital technology among Generation Alpha presents new challenges in shaping character and fostering digital ethics within educational settings. This study aims to examine the strategies and the redefined role of school principals in instilling digital ethics among students at MTsN 1 Madiun. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a single case study design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings reveal that the principal plays a transformative role in shaping students’ digital ethics through three main strategies: integrating Islamic values into the school’s digital culture (cultural), establishing digital policies and regulations (structural), and strengthening teachers’ capacities through training and mentoring (instrumental). The study concludes that the success of cultivating digital ethics is determined by visionary, participatory, and contextual leadership. This research contributes to the enrichment of value-based leadership theory in the context of digital education and offers practical implications for formulating digital ethics policies in faith-based schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using Quizizz as an interactive learning medium in Van Hiele model geometry learning on the creative thinking skills of students at MTs Negeri 1 Donggala. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research population was all eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 1 Donggala, with a sample of 47 students consisting of two classes, selected through random sampling. The instrument used to measure creative thinking skills was a test consisting of two essay questions. The data were analyzed using prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity tests) and hypothesis testing using an independent-sample t-test with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that the significance value of the posttest t-test was 0.002 < 0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Quizizz as an interactive learning medium in Van Hiele model geometry learning is effective in improving the creative thinking skills of students at MTs Negeri 1 Donggala.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) presents significant opportunities for art education in elementary schools, particularly within the Independent Curriculum framework that prioritizes creativity, autonomy, and technological literacy. This study examines the implementation of AI-assisted digital art learning by elementary school teachers and its impact on students' technological literacy development. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with collective case study design, data were gathered through observations, interviews, and document analysis in multiple elementary schools implementing the Independent Curriculum. The interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña guided the data analysis process. Findings revealed high student enthusiasm and active engagement in prompt-based digital art activities, demonstrating increased interest in continued participation. AI integration enhanced students' creativity, conceptual comprehension, and technical proficiency in digital artwork creation. Furthermore, the learning process strengthened technological literacy through prompt development skills, critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs, and independent application utilization. However, challenges emerged regarding teacher preparedness, disparities in students' digital competencies, and insufficient devices and infrastructure. This study concludes that AI-assisted digital art learning represents a relevant and innovative pedagogical strategy effectively supporting Independent Curriculum implementation in elementary education.

Abstract

The focus of this study is to determine the effect of the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach using the Rational Emotive Imagery (REI) technique in reducing self-injury behavior among 10th grade students at SMK Negeri 6 Medan. The background of this study is based on the high tendency of adolescents to engage in self-injury as a maladaptive coping mechanism for emotional stress. The research method used was quantitative with a pre-experimental one-group pretest posttest design, involving four students selected through purposive sampling from 65 students. The data collection instrument, a self-injury scale, was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The result demonstrated a significant reduction in self-injury levels following individual counseling interventions based on the REBT approach and REI technique, with a value of 0.046 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the REBT  approach with REI techniques is effective in reducing students' self-injury behavior by changing irrational thinking patterns into rational ones, thereby enabling them to manage their emotions more adaptively. This study recommends the application of REI as a counseling strategy in schools to prevent and decrease self-harming behaviors in adolescents, such as self- injury.

Abstract

The low ability of children with autism to maintain eye contact and remain seated during learning activities often becomes a major obstacle in the classroom learning process. These behavioral limitations reduce focus, interaction, and learning effectiveness, as observed among autistic students at Sibolga State Special Needs School. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of token economy counseling in improving eye contact and sitting behavior in children with autism. The research employed a single-subject research (SSR) method using an A–B–A design, with data collected through direct observation during baseline condition 1 (A1), intervention condition (B), and baseline condition 2 (A2). During the intervention phase, subjects who received token economy counseling showed a significant improvement in eye contact and sitting behavior, achieving a very good category. Furthermore, the improvement persisted in baseline condition 2 (A2), indicating that the positive effects of the intervention remained even after the treatment was discontinued. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that token economy counseling is effective in improving eye contact and sitting behavior in children with autism and can be applied as a behavioral intervention strategy in special education settings.
