Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe strategies and methods aimed at improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning at MTs Muhammadiyah Kudus. This study applies a qualitative approach through the use of observation, documentation, and interviews with three Islamic Religious Education teachers. The findings of the research show that the approaches applied to improve the quality of the learning process include objectives that focus on character development, the creation of contextual materials such as memorization of verses from the Qur'an and Hadith, worship practices, and interactive methods such as Index Card Match (ICM) and playing videos on Islamic history. Teachers act as role models and mentors, while students actively participate in learning and worship activities. Religious character building is carried out through the habit of performing congregational prayers, reading the Qur'an, reciting Asmaul Husna, and fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. The obstacles faced include limited facilities, diversity of teaching methods, and decreased motivation to learn. Overall, the strategies implemented by PAI teachers reflect the madrasah's vision of shaping students who are knowledgeable in science, noble in character, and excellent in achievement.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of school principals in enhancing teachers' pedagogical competencies through the use of Information Technology (IT) in public elementary schools in Bukit Batu District. The main focus is on how principals motivate teachers and integrate IT to improve the quality of pedagogical competencies. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to explore the experiences of principals and teachers related to motivation and the strengthening of competencies through IT. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document studies at SD Negeri 005 and SD Negeri 009 in Bukit Batu during the period from May to November 2025. The findings show that principals play a crucial role in enhancing pedagogical competencies through IT, such as initiating training and mentoring. However, challenges such as limited devices, unstable internet access, and teachers' readiness remain major obstacles. Supporting factors include regular training and support from the Education Office, while the main barriers are limited IT facilities, varied teacher skills, and differing motivation levels. To optimize the use of IT, improvements in facilities, more intensive training, and adequate technical support are needed.

Abstract

This study was driven by the limited interest and understanding of students regarding the history of the birth of Pancasila, which had long been taught through conventional methods. To address this issue, the research developed and assessed the E-Card Quartet learning media based on the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model as a more interactive alternative. Using a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE model covering analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation the study involved 32 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Kota Kediri. Data were collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. The results indicated that the media achieved a high level of validity, with a material expert validation score of 92.5% and media expert scores of 88% and 85%. Its practicality was also confirmed through a 92% positive student response. The effectiveness of the media appeared in the significant improvement in learning outcomes, shown by an increase in the average score from 68.13 on the pre-test to 90 on the post-test. Overall, the TGT-based E-Card Quartet proved effective in enhancing students’ comprehension of the history of Pancasila’s birth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character values contained in the Rokat Tase’ tradition and its relevance for strengthening character education in coastal communities of Madura. This research is based on the limited integration of local wisdom traditions into formal character education, particularly in coastal areas. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using PRISMA guidelines by identifying, selecting, and analyzing seven relevant empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024. Data were analyzed thematically to identify dominant character values and their educational implications. The results show that the Rokat Tase’ tradition reflects important character values, including religiosity, social solidarity, responsibility, environmental awareness, and cultural identity. These values are developed through collective rituals, social interaction, environmental practices, and intergenerational cultural transmission. Furthermore, the identified values are consistent with the objectives of character education and the Pancasila Student Profile, especially for students living in coastal and maritime environments. In conclusion, the integration of Rokat Tase’ into learning activities can be effectively implemented through contextual learning approaches, project-based learning, experiential learning, and value clarification techniques, making character education more meaningful and culturally relevant.

Abstract

The development of gamification as a learning media is essential to provide primary school students with a contextual, motivating learning experience that can enhance their learning outcomes. Despite its potential, research on the integration of gamification in improving learning outcomes at the primary education level remains limited. Therefore, a comprehensive literature review is necessary to identify current trends, challenges, and future opportunities for development in this area. This study aims to explore how gamification can improve critical thinking skills among primary school students from 2021 to 2025 by employing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The analysis of 18 research papers demonstrated that gamification strategies significantly improve students' learning outcomes. Furthermore, gamification not only enhances academic performance but also strengthens cognitive, affective, and social dimensions by boosting students’ motivation, creativity, and meaningful engagement in the learning process. These findings suggest that implementing gamified learning media can play a crucial role in fostering a more effective and holistic education for young learners.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the direction and trends of research on service differentiation and school image as a competitiveness strategy for Islamic elementary schools in the modern education era. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA method, drawing data from Scopus and Google Scholar within the 2020–2025 range. A total of 98 articles were identified based on relevant keywords. After a systematic selection process and screening using inclusion–exclusion criteria, 29 articles were considered eligible for deeper analysis. The findings indicate that recent research trends focus on the synergy between service quality, school image, and digital transformation as the main pillars of competitiveness among Islamic educational institutions. Cluster analysis revealed four dominant themes: school image and reputation, service quality and competitive advantage, digital branding strategies, and the local context of Islamic schools in Indonesia. This study demonstrates that the success of Islamic elementary schools in the modern era is determined not only by religious values but also by institutional capability in managing services, building digital reputation, and developing public trust strategically.

Abstract

Communication skills are essential competencies that support students’ academic success and social interaction in the learning process. However, field observations indicated that fourth-grade students at SD Inpres 2 Tondo showed low communication skills, particularly in expressing opinions and participating actively in classroom discussions. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on improving students’ communication skills. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 38 fourth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class was taught using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model, while the control class received conventional instruction. Data were collected through communication skills tests and observation sheets and analyzed using descriptive analysis, normalized gain, and independent sample t-test. The results showed that students taught using the Jigsaw model achieved higher posttest scores and better communication skill performance compared to those taught using conventional methods. These findings indicate that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model is effective in enhancing elementary school students’ communication skills and can be applied as an alternative instructional strategy in language learning.
