Abstract

The environmental crisis presents a multidimensional challenge that is not only ecological but also moral and spiritual. In the context of Indonesia, Islamic student organizations hold strategic potential to play a role in environmental advocacy based on Islamic values. This study aims to examine the practice of eco-theological based environmental activism among Islamic student organizations, using a case study of the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Union (Kesatuan Aksi Mahasiswa Muslim Indonesia/KAMMI). Data were collected through interviews, observations, literature reviews, and document analysis of environmental programs carried out by the organization. The results show that although environmental issues have yet to become a priority agenda, there are several initiatives by KAMMI contributing to environmental preservation. The study found that the main challenges in mainstreaming eco-theology are the lack of Islamic-based environmental literacy and the dominance of socio-political issues in student movements. These findings recommend the integration of eco-theological content into the organization's cadre training curriculum and the strengthening of networks with environmental communities.

Abstract

Sexual violence, bullying, and drug abuse are social problems frequently experienced by students in higher education. The risk factors for these three problems are diverse, involving interacting psychosocial, environmental, and personal aspects. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of the factors contributing to the increased risk of sexual violence, bullying, and drug abuse among college students. Using a literature review approach, this study compiled and analyzed relevant previous research findings from psychological, sociological, and public health perspectives. The findings indicate that factors such as academic pressure, domestic violence, mental health disorders, and the dynamics of social relationships on campus are key triggers. Furthermore, existing social norms in the campus environment, such as patriarchal culture and a lack of awareness of the importance of mental health, contribute to these conditions. This study also identifies the importance of preventative measures through sex education, student empowerment, and support from mental health and social services on campus. In conclusion, the risk factors for sexual violence, bullying, and drug abuse among college students are multidimensional, requiring a holistic, community-based approach to addressing them.

Abstract

This review explored the collaborative roles of Family Centered Maternity Care (FCMC) and health cadres in reducing maternal risk during pregnancy. High-risk pregnancies remain a key concern contributing to maternal and infant mortality, especially in low-resource settings. FCMC has emerged as an approach that empowers families to actively participate in maternal care, while trained community health cadres facilitate early detection and health education. This paper reviewed recent studies that examined how collaboration between families, cadres, and health systems enhances antenatal care adherence, risk mitigation, and maternal well-being. Evidence shows that integrating digital tools, structured family support, and interprofessional teamwork can significantly reduce complications and improve preparedness for childbirth. It concludes that strengthening cadre-family collaboration is a critical strategy in maternal health interventions.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular complications and remains a prevalent public health concern, particularly in community settings. Family involvement plays a vital role in supporting lifestyle modifications and treatment adherence. However, educational tools tailored to family support in hypertension management are still limited. This study aimed to develop a family-centered hypertension education module designed to enhance knowledge, promote behavioral changes, and prevent cardiovascular complications among hypertensive patients in the community. A research and development (R&D) design was employed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The study was conducted at Puskesmas (Community Health Center) 23 Ilir Palembang from May to June 2025. Data were collected through interviews, expert validation, and pre-post tests involving 30 families of hypertensive patients. Validation involved a panel of experts in nursing, cardiology, and health education. Descriptive and paired t-test analyses were applied. The developed module consists of five core sections: understanding hypertension, healthy diet, physical activity, medication adherence, and family roles in disease management. Expert validation showed high content validity (CVI = 0.94). Post-intervention testing revealed a significant improvement in family knowledge and engagement (p < 0.05), indicating the module's effectiveness. The family-centered hypertension education module is feasible, valid, and effective in improving family support and awareness to prevent cardiovascular complications. Implementation of the module is recommended in community health centers to strengthen family involvement in hypertension management. Further research with larger samples and long-term follow-up is advised to evaluate its sustained impact.

Abstract

Stunting in early childhood is a complex health problem with broad impacts, not only on physical growth but also on motor and language development, which are essential for children's future success. This review was conducted to identify and synthesize the latest scientific evidence on the effectiveness of various educational approaches in stimulating motor and language development in children with stunting. A systematic literature search was carried out through nine scientific databases, covering publications from 2014 to 2024. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were assessed for quality using the JBI appraisal tool and analyzed thematically. A total of 23 primary articles were analyzed, showing that family- and community-based educational interventions—such as home visits, educational games, simple stimulation media, and the Montessori approach—had a positive impact on improving fine motor, gross motor, and both expressive and receptive language skills in stunted children. Approaches that involved active parental participation and were tailored to the local context proved to be more effective than general or non-targeted methods. This review emphasizes the need to strengthen education-based early stimulation programs in Indonesia’s national strategy for addressing stunting.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major public health problem and one of the leading risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as relaxation and breathing techniques, have been widely explored to complement medical treatment in controlling blood pressure. Benson relaxation and mindfulness breathing are two techniques that may effectively reduce stress and blood pressure through physiological and psychological mechanisms. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Benson relaxation and mindfulness breathing interventions in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients. A quasi-experimental study was conducted at RSUD Sungai Lilin from February to April 2025. A total of 140 hypertensive patients were selected using total sampling and randomly assigned into two intervention groups: Benson relaxation (n = 70) and mindfulness breathing (n = 70). Interventions were administered regularly for four weeks. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a standardized sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests. Both Benson relaxation and mindfulness breathing significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients (p < 0.05). However, the mindfulness breathing group demonstrated a greater mean reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to the Benson relaxation group (p < 0.05). Both interventions are effective in reducing blood pressure, but mindfulness breathing shows superior effectiveness compared to Benson relaxation. These findings suggest that mindfulness breathing can be recommended as a complementary non-pharmacological therapy for hypertension management.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health problem worldwide and is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Beyond pharmacological treatment, complementary approaches such as spiritual care and relaxation techniques have been increasingly recognized as effective strategies for managing blood pressure. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Islamic spiritual care and physical relaxation in controlling blood pressure among hypertensive patients.A quasi-experimental study was conducted at RSUD Sungai Lilin, South Sumatra, Indonesia, from February to April 2025. A total of 120 hypertensive patients were recruited using total sampling and divided into two intervention groups: Islamic spiritual care (n = 60) and physical relaxation (n = 60). The Islamic spiritual care intervention consisted of guided dhikr and prayer-based relaxation, while the physical relaxation group received progressive muscle relaxation training. Blood pressure was measured before and after the 4-week intervention. Data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests to compare within-group and between-group differences. Both interventions significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to baseline (p < 0.05). However, patients receiving Islamic spiritual care demonstrated a greater mean reduction in systolic blood pressure (−12.8 ± 6.4 mmHg) and diastolic blood pressure (−8.6 ± 4.7 mmHg) compared with those in the physical relaxation group (−8.3 ± 5.9 mmHg and −5.2 ± 4.1 mmHg, respectively; p < 0.05). Islamic spiritual care and physical relaxation are both effective in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients. Nevertheless, Islamic spiritual care appears to provide greater benefits, suggesting its potential as a culturally appropriate complementary intervention in hypertension management.

Abstract

The quality of nursing documentation in Indonesia remains low, with an achievement rate of only 7%, far below international standards. The Indonesian National Nurses Association (Persatuan Perawat Nasional Indonesia/PPNI) has developed the Triple S (SDKI, SLKI, SIKI) documentation standards to improve the quality of nursing documentation. To analyze the effect of 3S training on nurses’ knowledge and skills in nursing care documentation at RSUD Gelumbang. A quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was conducted, involving 50 nurses who were divided into an intervention group (n=25) and a control group (n=25). The intervention group received 3S training over a period of two days, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using Independent T-Test, Paired T-Test, Mann-Whitney, and Wilcoxon tests. The 3S training had a significant effect on nurses’ knowledge (p = 0.000 < 0.05), with an average score increase from 48.60 to 74.40. However, it did not have a significant effect on skills (p = 0.585 > 0.05). The 3S training was effective in improving nurses’ knowledge, but a comprehensive approach is required to enhance practical skills.

Abstract

Body Mass Index (BMI), total cholesterol levels, and blood pressure are important indicators in evaluating metabolic health status. These factors are interconnected and collectively influence the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. This study analyzed the relationship between BMI, total cholesterol levels, and blood pressure among workers in Indralaya, Indonesia. Using a cross-sectional design, the study involved 30 purposively selected respondents. Data were collected through interviews, measurements of height and weight, total cholesterol examination, and blood pressure assessment. Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation and linear regression. The results indicated a tendency for an association between BMI and blood pressure, although not statistically significant. Total cholesterol levels were not significantly associated with blood pressure. Regression analysis revealed that BMI contributed more strongly than blood pressure values. From a biomedical dietetic perspective, obesity has the potential to increase the risk of hypertension and dyslipidemia through mechanisms involving inflammation, insulin resistance, and atherosclerosis. Dietary interventions, such as balanced nutrition, limitation of saturated fats, and increased fiber intake, are recommended to reduce cardiometabolic risks.

Abstract

Hypertension is when a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal, or systolic pressure higher than 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure above 90 mmHg. Hypertension can cause headaches. One of the management techniques for headaches is non-pharmacological techniques, with slow stroke back massage (SSBM) therapy. This therapy is a massage action on the back with slow strokes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the slow stroke back massage technique in reducing the level of head pain in hypertensive patients. This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach during the slow stroke back massage (SSBM) technique to reduce headaches in hypertensive patients. After nursing care for 3 days, the results of the headache scale on the first day were 6-7, on the second day, the headache scale also decreased, and on the third day, it decreased to 2. The slow stroke back massage (SSBM) technique can reduce headache levels in patients with hypertension
