This study aims to describe the social values contained in the novel Home Sweet Loan by Almira Bastari. The focus of the study is directed at the depiction of social values such as social interaction, social conflict, and social change. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of words, sentences, and paragraphs contained in the novel Home Sweet Loan by Almira Bastari and the source of this research data is the novel Home Sweet Loan by Almira Bastari, the third edition in 2023, consisting of 309 pages. The data collection technique in this study is the hermeneutic technique. The data analysis techniques used are coding, classification, analysis and data relationships. The results of the study show that the novel Home Sweet Loan contains social values that reflect the reality of people's lives, especially the younger generation. These values include: 1) social interaction is shown through the relationship between characters and family, partners, and peers. 2) Social conflicts that arise due to differences in values between generations, economic inequality, and the influence of social media. 3) Social changes in community values. The conclusion of this study is that Home Sweet Loan is a reflection of the social dynamics of modern society. This novel presents a realistic portrait of the challenges of life for the younger generation and is a reflective medium for understanding changes in social values and behavior in the digital era.

Phonological ability is a fundamental aspect of early childhood language development, closely linked to later literacy and communication skills. This study, titled "Phonological Ability of Early Childhood through Language-Based Play Activities at YLPI Riau Kindergarten," investigates the effectiveness of language-based play in enhancing phonological skills among young learners. The research is grounded in the understanding that play serves as a natural medium for language acquisition in early childhood education settings. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to explore how structured language-based play activities contribute to children's phonological development. The subjects of this study were children aged 4–5 years at YLPI Riau Kindergarten. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation of children's play activities. Observations focused on children’s ability to recognize and manipulate sounds, including rhyming, syllable segmentation, and initial sound identification. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis to identify patterns and themes related to phonological development during play. The analysis emphasized how specific types of language-based play—such as storytelling, rhyming games, sound matching, and singing—supported the development of phonological awareness in a playful and engaging context. The results revealed that language-based play activities significantly contributed to the improvement of children’s phonological abilities. Children showed increased awareness of sounds, improved pronunciation, and greater ability to distinguish phonemes. Teachers also played a key role by facilitating and scaffolding the play in ways that promoted language learning. In conclusion, language-based play activities are effective pedagogical tools for fostering phonological development in early childhood. The findings highlight the importance of integrating purposeful play in early education curricula to support foundational language skills in a developmentally appropriate manner

The 2013 Curriculum is known to be more structured and oriented toward national standards, thus limiting teachers’ creativity in connecting learning with local social and cultural contexts. In contrast, the Merdeka Curriculum offers greater flexibility for schools and teachers to adapt learning to the needs of students and the characteristics of local culture. This study aims to analyze in depth the differences between the Merdeka Curriculum and the 2013 Curriculum in terms of social and cultural aspects at various educational levels. The method used is literature study and analysis of curriculum documents as well as previous research findings. The results show that the Merdeka Curriculum places greater emphasis on project-based learning, integration of local culture in every activity, and authentic assessment that evaluates both the process and outcomes as a whole. The Merdeka Curriculum is also considered effective in building character, social skills, and appreciation for local culture, while the 2013 Curriculum tends to place social and cultural aspects only in local content and formal activities. Thus, this study provides an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of both curricula and offers recommendations for more effective implementation of social and cultural learning in schools.

This article aims to describe the training activities for berbalas pantun to students' at SDN 005 Bukit Ranah. Elementary School 005 Bukit Ranah is a public school located on Jalan Pekanbaru-Bangkinang, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The majority of students at Elementary School 005 Bukit Ranah are of Malay ethnicity and culture. Almost all of the students use the local Malay language with the Kampar Malay dialect. As a Malay-based school, this school needs training in pantun reciprocation because the school is looking for students who are talented in pantun reciprocation. Training on writing pantun has been carried out but the activity did not focus on practicing pantun reciprocation even though the school needs talented students to take part in pantun reciprocation competitions. This training activity is carried out using lecture and practice methods. By holding pantun reciprocation training, students can later develop their talents and become representatives for pantun reciprocation competitions. This activity was attended by 25 members taken from representatives of classes 1-6. After participating in the training, a picture of participants who have talent in pantun reciprocation can be obtained by paying attention to the pantun reciprocation aspect.

This study aims to describe the analysis of the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum in the Cemerlang thematic book for the Indonesian language section for grade II elementary school from Usaha Makmur Solo Publisher. This study refers to the textbook assessment standards from the Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency in 2022 which has set several criteria for assessing textbooks. The assessment aspects include 4 things, namely material standards, presentation standards, design standards, and graphic standards. This study uses a qualitative research type, with a content analysis method. The data collection technique in this study was through documentation. The data analysis technique in this study was by processing and analyzing the data that had been collected. The results of the study show that the Cemerlang thematic book for the Indonesian language section for grade II elementary school from Usaha Makmur Solo Publisher is included in the good category because it includes the use of attractive visuals, good material presentation and in accordance with the curriculum, involving technology with the presence of QR codes that can be used by students and teachers to support learning in class or at home.

This study aims to analyze the elements of Aristotelian rhetoric, namely ethos, pathos, and logos, in Dedi Mulyadi's speech entitled "Rise Together to Realize a Strong Indonesia" which was aired on the KOMPASTV YouTube channel. This study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method to identify rhetorical strategies used by speakers in building persuasive power. The results of the study show that Dedi Mulyadi effectively combines the three elements of rhetoric. Ethos appears in 3 data, demonstrating the credibility and integrity of the speaker. Pathos was found in 5 data, highlighting an emotional narrative that evoked audience empathy. Logos is also present in 5 data, showing logical and factual arguments. The combination of these three elements creates a speech that is not only rational, but also emotional and moral. This speech proves that rhetoric is a powerful communication strategy in shaping public opinion and conveying messages effectively. Keywords: ethos, pathos, logos, dedi mulyadi.

Expressive speech acts are an integral part of online communication, allowing users to express their feelings, attitudes, and emotions directly. This study aims to analyze expressive speech acts found in the comments column of Gibran Rakabuming Raka's Instagram account. Expressive speech acts are an integral part of online communication, allowing users to express their feelings, attitudes, and emotions directly. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to systematically describe, explain, describe, and analyze expressive speech acts based on data collected on May 6, 2025. The data consists of netizens' comments containing expressive speech acts, such as thanking, congratulating, praising, blaming, and others. Data collection techniques use documentation (screenshots), listening techniques to observe comments, and recording by classifying data according to the type of expressive speech act based on Searle's theory (1979). The analysis technique used is content analysis. The results of the study show that the types of expressive speech acts found include thanking, congratulating, praising, blaming, and apologizing, with the dominant form being praise for Gibran. This research reveals that social media is a crucial space for public expression of attitudes toward political figures.

This study aims to describe the form of assertive speech acts in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast entitled "Ghozali Everyday NFT Kaya Mendadak?". Podcasts were chosen as the object of study because they are a popular communication media that combines elements of entertainment, education, and social interaction. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a pragmatic analysis method based on the theory of speech acts by Searle (1979). Data in the form of speech from hosts and sources were analyzed to identify types of assertiveness. Data collection techniques used the listening and note-taking technique. The results of the study showed that there were assertive speech acts used to convey information, express opinions, provide clarification, and share personal experiences in the form of speech acts stating, informing, suggesting, explaining, showing, demanding, and complaining. The speech act that dominates is the speech act of informing, indicating that the main purpose of communication in this podcast is to convey information and build listener trust in the source. This study is expected to contribute to authentic material to analyze the real context of language use in popular media, thereby helping students understand the dynamics of language use in contemporary digital communication.

This study aims to analyze the development of Indonesian language teachers' writing assessments involving self-esteem. This study uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The sample used was Indonesian language high school teachers, both public and private teachers in Pekanbaru City, Riau, Indonesia. The research sample used was 52 Indonesian language teachers. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. The measurement design of this research instrument was carried out using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics for variable levels and inferential statistics for requirement tests. A model equation structure test was conducted by evaluating the measurement model (outer model). The results showed that there was a direct effect of self-esteem on the writing assessment of Indonesian language teachers in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia of 62%. This illustrates that strengthening the affective mental aspect is prioritized and considered in assessing the learning process, this is useful as affective feedback or self-evaluation. The findings revealed that writing assessments involving high self-esteem have a positive impact, thus increasing self-confidence in assessing and growing self-confidence. This makes self-esteem an important aspect of self-esteem to have for Indonesian language teachers.

This study examines the values of empathy and friendship in Andrea Hirata’s children’s literary works, particularly Laskar Pelangi and Ayah, and their relevance to children’s character development. Children’s literature serves as an educational medium that instills moral and social values through relatable stories. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis. Data representing empathy and friendship values were analyzed using the empathy theory (Eisenberg & Strayer, 1990) and children’s social development theory (Santrock, 2018). The results show that Andrea Hirata’s works are rich in empathy and friendship values reflected in the characters Ikal, Lintang, Mahar, and Sabari. These values promote social awareness, solidarity, and humanity, aligning with Lickona’s (2014) concept of character education. Andrea Hirata’s works not only possess aesthetic value but also serve as effective learning materials for character-based Indonesian language education.
