Abstract

The wind energy adventure with children from the shelter home has become the focus of a community service initiative aimed at elementary school children in the Cibogo area. The need for alternative forms of learning to stimulate interest and engagement among children at the shelter inspired the application of science using a wind power car as the central theme of this community service program. The activity was conducted using an experimental method, training the children to observe, design tools, measure results, and draw conclusions from the objects they created—ranging from mechanical components to the drive system—through hands-on experimentation. The outcomes of this wind energy adventure had a positive impact on the children, the service team, and the surrounding community, fostering awareness of the importance of experiment-based education and providing valuable knowledge to all participants involved.

Abstract

Tenjolaya Village in Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency, has great potential as a tourist village based on agro- and ecotourism. With an area of 65.68 km² and a population of 15,986, Tenjolaya has attractions such as natural mountain tourism, tea plantations, coffee plantations, waterfalls, and culinary specialties such as kalua jeruk. However, managing this potential still faces obstacles due to the lack of an integrated management ecosystem, particularly in terms of administration and finance. One of the main problems is the low understanding of internal control among administrators and business actors, including financial recording systems, profit sharing, and fair payroll. This community service activity aims to provide understanding and skills to Tenjolaya residents regarding the importance of internal control and a simple financial management system to support the sustainability of the tourist village. Through interactive lectures, focus group discussions (FGDs), and business management simulations (homestays and tourist ticket management), participants are trained to understand the principles of internal control, transaction recording, and a transparent payroll system. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the level of internal control literacy of residents, which is expected to be the foundation for creating a healthy, accountable and competitive tourism village ecosystem.

Abstract

Padukuhan Dayakan II, located in Dayakan Village, Tanjungsari District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, faces challenges in managing citizen data that is still done manually, causing slow administrative processes and vulnerability to errors. As a solution, students from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) developed an application based on Flutter and Dart for the digitalization of population data. This application development used the Agile methodology, which allows for iterative and flexible development according to user needs. The application facilitates the recording, updating, and searching of citizen data, reducing the time it previously took to search for one piece of data from 30 minutes to less than one minute. The application was tested through direct trials by village officials, and training was provided to the Kepala Dukuh (village head) as its partner to ensure the application could be used effectively. The results show that this application significantly improves administrative efficiency, accelerates public services, and enhances data accuracy. This application development is expected to be further developed with additional features to make administrative tasks easier and improve community services.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in driving local economies, including in Padukuhan Keruk I, Banjarejo Village, Tanjungsari District, Gunungkidul Regency. However, limitations in marketing strategies, particularly branding, have led to low brand awareness of the products offered. This study focuses on a single MSME engaged in the snack food sector, which previously lacked a clear brand identity. The aim of this activity is to optimize branding strategies to enhance brand awareness through a design thinking approach. This method consists of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with the business owner, and testing of brand designs. The results show that the business owner gained new insights into the importance of visual identity, brand storytelling, and social media utilization. The branding strategies—such as logo creation, packaging design, and the setup of online promotion channels—were successfully implemented. In conclusion, the design thinking approach proved effective in helping the MSME develop a branding strategy that fits its needs and gradually increases consumer awareness and product appeal.

Abstract

Women’s empowerment initiatives represent a strategic effort to foster economic independence while simultaneously strengthening spiritual and social values within the community. One such approach is through training in the craft of rosary-making using cord and beads, which carries not only religious significance but also economic potential as a devotional handicraft product. This program is designed to enhance the skills of women, particularly within the Sang Timur community Semangkak Klaten, by enabling them to independently and creatively produce rosaries. As an innovation in community engagement, the training goes beyond the technical aspects of rosary production by incorporating education on digital marketing strategies. Participants are equipped with the skills to utilize social media platforms, online marketplaces, and product photography techniques to promote their creations more effectively and to a wider audience.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has increasingly influenced various aspects of daily life, including the dissemination of information within places of worship such as mosques. One technological tool that can be effectively utilized for this purpose is a running text display, which can convey prayer schedules, announcements, and other relevant information in an efficient and organized manner. Jatiendah Village, located in the Cilengkrang District of Bandung Regency, is known for its devout community and active participation in religious activities. However, several mosques in the area have yet to adopt running text technology, primarily due to limited knowledge and technical skills related to its installation and operation. This community engagement initiative aimed to address this gap by providing training on the installation and use of running text displays to the management of Jami Nurul Iman Mosque in Jatiendah Village. The training methods included theoretical presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. The outcomes of the program indicated that the participants successfully acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to install and operate running text systems, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of information dissemination within the mosque environment.

Abstract

E-learning has been proven to significantly improve the quality of learning. This ICT-based learning allows the teaching and learning process to take place anywhere and anytime (ubiquitous learning). Furthermore, artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied to improve the quality of teaching materials and evaluation process. In this community service program (PkM), we implemented AI-assisted e-learning in the teaching and learning process at Sawah Elementary School, Panggang, Gunung Kidul. To this end, we first built the ICT infrastructure to support e-learning. A computer server was installed using Moodle as the learning management system (LMS). Following this, a series of training sessions were held, including Moodle administrator training for one teacher, digital classroom management and Moodle question creation training for all teachers, and Moodle training for students, which included online quizzes. At the end of the PkM, we conducted an evaluation with the teachers and students to measure their abilities and responses after all the training. Although teachers and students’ abilities on average showed average results in Moodle and AI mastery, their satisfaction with the training was very high, and they expected that this training could continue in the coming years.
