Abstract

This article analyzes the Ngunduh Patirtan Jolotundo ritual as a community-based water conservation system rooted in local wisdom in Mojokerto Regency, and examines its potential as the academic basis for a Regent’s Regulation on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) designation. The study employs a normative-empirical approach integrating literature review, field study, juridical analysis of regulatory hierarchies, and comparative analysis with similar ICH practices across Indonesia. The Ngunduh Patirtan ritual effectively functions as a communal water conservation mechanism through its procession of collecting water from 33 springs on Mount Penanggungan. The tradition possesses robust philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations for designation as Mojokerto’s ICH. This is the first study to systematically integrate the spiritual-ecological, legal, and public policy dimensions of the Ngunduh Patirtan tradition into a unified analytical framework as a basis for local regulation.

Abstract

Exports play an important role in promoting economic growth by generating foreign exchange earnings and strengthening international trade. However, Indonesia’s export performance has fluctuated considerably due to changes in macroeconomic conditions. This study examines the short-run and long-run effects of inflation, money supply (M2), and interest rates on Indonesia’s exports during the 2015–2024 period. Secondary time-series data were obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and Bank Indonesia (BI) and analyzed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results indicate that, in the short run, inflation has a significant negative effect on exports, while money supply (M2) has a significant positive effect only in the first lag. Interest rates do not significantly affect exports in the short run. In the long run, inflation exerts a significant negative effect, whereas money supply and interest rates have significant positive effects on exports. Furthermore, the Impulse Response Function (IRF) shows that macroeconomic shocks are temporary and gradually converge to equilibrium, while Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) identifies money supply as the largest contributor to export fluctuations. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining monetary stability to support Indonesia’s export performance and international competitiveness.

Abstract

Culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in promoting regional economic development through job creation, income generation, and the utilization of local resources. However, many culinary MSMEs in Gerung District and its surrounding areas face challenges related to limited product innovation, weak business management, inadequate financial record-keeping, and the underutilization of digital marketing. These constraints reduce business competitiveness and long-term sustainability. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of culinary MSMEs through assistance in production, business management, and local potential-based marketing. A participatory approach was employed, involving needs assessment, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The results indicate improved partner understanding of product innovation, simple financial recording, product branding, and digital marketing practices. The mentoring program also enhanced managerial capabilities and encouraged more systematic and sustainable business management. This program is expected to serve as a practical model for empowering local potential-based culinary MSMEs and strengthening the local economy in West Lombok Regency.

Abstract

This study investigated cross-linguistic transfer in the English writing of first-semester law students enrolled in a Basic English course. It aimed to identify the types of cross-linguistic transfer and examine how Indonesian morphological and syntactic features influenced students’ written production. A descriptive qualitative design was employed, using qualitative content analysis to analyze 30 students’ written texts. The findings revealed that negative transfer was more prevalent than positive transfer, accounting for 247 (73.51%) and 89 (26.49%) unique instances, respectively. At the morphological level, affixation and derivation emerged as the most dominant feature, whereas clause construction was the most frequent syntactic feature. These findings indicate that structural differences between Indonesian and English substantially influenced students’ grammatical accuracy. The study contributes to a better understanding of cross-linguistic transfer in an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) context and provides pedagogical insights for improving English writing instruction.

Abstract

Adolescent depression has become an important mental health issue because of its impact on adolescents’ psychological, social, and academic development. Family emotional climate, particularly Parental Expressed Emotion (PEE), has been identified as one of the factors associated with adolescent mental health. This study aimed to examine the relationship between parental expressed emotion and depression levels among students at MTs Al-Washliyah Medan Krio. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 105 students selected from a population of 155 students. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires measuring parental expressed emotion and adolescent depression. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment correlation after meeting the required statistical assumptions. The findings indicated that parental expressed emotion had a significant relationship with adolescents’ depression levels (r = 0.4619, p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the quality of parents’ emotional expression is associated with adolescents’ psychological well-being. Strengthening positive emotional communication within families may therefore contribute to efforts aimed at preventing depression among adolescents.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the English skills that many EFL students still find difficult, especially those who do not major in English. This study examines how students at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Institut Syekh Abdul Halim Hasan Binjai, perceive the use of procedure text in speaking instruction. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, involving 15 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Most participants viewed the use of procedure text positively. They felt that its clear sequence helped them arrange ideas before speaking, making it easier to explain a process in a logical order. Several students also reported feeling more confident and becoming more involved during speaking activities because they had a structured guide to follow. At the same time, they acknowledged that limited vocabulary, pronunciation problems, and nervousness still affected their speaking performance. The findings suggest that procedure text provides practical support for speaking instruction, particularly for non-English major students. It offers opportunities to practice speaking in a more organized way while gradually building confidence and improving communicative ability in English.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Jigsaw learning strategy in Fiqh instruction at MTsN 4 Langkat, explain its implementation stages, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Fiqh teacher, and students. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Jigsaw strategy consists of three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The learning process is conducted through the formation of home groups and expert groups, enabling students to exchange knowledge collaboratively and take responsibility for mastering the assigned learning materials. Supporting factors include students’ readiness and the availability of learning resources, while inhibiting factors comprise limited learning motivation, insufficient cooperative learning skills, limited instructional time, and inadequate learning media. Overall, the findings indicate that the Jigsaw strategy promotes active, collaborative, and student-centered learning in Fiqh instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach and its effect on students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) among ninth-grade students at Al-Washliyah Muliorejo Junior High School, Sunggal District. This study employed a quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring the CTL approach and students’ learning motivation, with a total of 38 respondents. Data analysis included normality, linearity, and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using correlation and t-tests with the assistance of SPSS. The findings indicate that the CTL approach has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education. The coefficient of determination indicates that the CTL approach contributes 60.5% to students’ learning motivation, while the remaining 39.5% is attributable to other factors. The t-test also demonstrates a significant effect, with a t-value of 14.969 and a significance value of 0.000, which is below the 0.05 significance level. These findings suggest that the implementation of the CTL approach can strengthen students’ learning motivation by connecting learning materials with students’ real-life experiences and contexts. Therefore, CTL can be considered an appropriate instructional approach for improving students’ engagement and motivation in Islamic Religious Education.
