Jurnal Bastra (Bahasa dan Sastra)
JOURNAL BASTRA (Language and Literature) is a publicly accessible journal published by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Halu Oleo University. This journal is published four times a year, every January, April, July, and October. This journal contains the results of research (field or literature studies), theoretical studies, and critical studies covering several areas of study as follows. Indonesian language education includes studies on linguistic learning, phonology learning, morphology learning, syntax learning, semantic learning, pragmatics learning, discourse learning, sociolinguistic learning, and psycholinguistic learning. Indonesian literature education includes studies on poetry learning, fiction prose learning, and drama and film learning. Indonesian, includes studies on linguistics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Indonesian literature includes studies on poetry, prose fiction, drama, and film with a structural approach, stylistics, semiotics, sociology of literature, psychology of literature, psychoanalysis, literary ecology, deconstruction, philology, phenomenology, feminism, literary reception, and literary anthropology.

Reflects the overall substance of the article's content and allows Music is part of works of art that functions as a fairly effective means of mass communication to the public. This research aims to analyze and interpret the political elements in the song Bento by Iwan Fals. Through a political literary criticism approach, this article examines how Iwan Fals uses his lyrics to the song Bento as a medium to voice criticism of government policies, social injustice and other political issues. The method used is text analysis with a qualitative approach, where several lyrics in the song Bento by Iwan Fals which are considered to have political content are analyzed in depth.

The use of language styles in a literary work, especially songs, aims to increase the aesthetic effect or beauty so that it gives the impression of attracting someone's attention to reading or listening. This paper aims to describe the meaning of religious songs through the use of allegorical language. Qualitative descriptive methods were used as this research method. The three song objects used in this study were taken through YouTube media in 2024, including a song by Saujana titled “Sepohon Kayu”, Chrisye's song “Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata”, and a song by Fatin Shidqia titled “Oh Tuhan”. This data was used to investigate the meaning of religiosity in song lyrics. Researchers use documentation techniques in collecting research materials which are of course valid. Apart from that, researchers also use listening techniques, recording techniques, and data analysis techniques. After research, this study shows the use of allegorical language styles in these songs and proves an understanding of the meaning of religiosity in them. Through this research, it can provide a better understanding and become a powerful tool for conveying spiritual or religious messages in songs that have a meaning of religiosity.

Literary works are created by authors as a way of expressing ideas and thoughts. One form of literary work is a novel. In the novel there are imagery terms described by the author in various forms. The aim of this research is to describe the form of imagery contained in the novel Kembang nu Dipitineung, including: (a) the form of visual imagery; (b) the form of auditory imagery; (c) form Of movement imagery; and (d) the form of tactile imagery. The research method used is descriptive analysis method with stylistic studies. The data source in this research is primary data, the type of research used is qualitative, the data collection technique used is literature review or literature study. The research results showed that there were 43 forms of visual imagery, 4 forms of auditory imagery, 37 forms of movement imagery, 13 forms of Tactile imagery.

This study aims to explore the integration of responsibility and discipline values through Indonesian language learning based on Scout activities. The background of the research highlights the urgency of character education in Indonesia, which is not only focused on academic achievement but also on strengthening students’ moral values. Scout activities, as a form of non-formal education, offer an effective platform to instill positive character traits. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research analyzes the experiences and perceptions of students participating in Scout-based learning. The findings show that integrating Scout activities into Indonesian language lessons significantly enhances students’ motivation, responsibility, and discipline. The process encourages students to develop collaborative skills, communicate effectively, and build self-confidence. Furthermore, it was found that the practical and contextual learning environment of Scouts supports students in internalizing values more meaningfully. This study contributes to the development of character-based learning models and provides insights for educators to optimize extracurricular activities as a medium for character education in formal learning.

The phenomenon of speech act is functions as a tool for communication and a reflection of one’s thoughts, beliefs, and personality. This study aims to analyze assertive speech acts used by the main character, Moana, in the animated musical film Moana 2, and how those speech acts reveal the development of her personality. This study applied descriptive qualitative method with data collection technique through documentation and analysis of Moana’s utterances in the movie. A total of 176 utterances identified based from Moana and only 69 of them were categorized as assertive speech acts. The findings show forms of assertive utterance include stating, claiming, suggesting, reporting, boasting, admitting, and concluding. This research also contributes to the field of linguistics, especially in connecting speech act (Searle, 1969) with Big Five Personality Traits and enriching the understanding of how language reflects personality growth. These forms of speech acts reflect Moana’s change from an informative figure to an individual who is more confident, reflective, and has a great love for new things. Thus, this study not only provides an overview of various assertive speech acts but also bridges the gap between pragmatic theory and personality.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fungsi sintaksis kalimat imperatif dalam konten motivasi Merry Riana di platform YouTube. Kalimat imperatif digunakan dalam konten motivasi untuk mendorong pendengar melakukan tindakan positif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan mentranskripsi video motivasi ke dalam bentuk tulisan, kemudian menganalisis bentuk, struktur, dan fungsi sintaksis kalimat imperatif tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kalimat imperatif dalam konten motivasi Merry Riana memiliki beragam struktur, termasuk kalimat dengan predikat, kalimat dengan subjek dan predikat, serta kalimat yang disertai pelengkap atau keterangan. Fungsi kalimat imperatif meliputi ajakan, perintah, larangan, dorongan, peringatan, dan pemberian nasihat. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kalimat imperatif dalam konten motivasi secara strategis merupakan kalimat yang efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan motivasi secara langsung dan membangkitkan semangat pendengar.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fungsi, kategori, dan peran subjek dalam lirik lagu “Lantas” yang dipopulerkan oleh Juicy Luicy. Lirik lagu sebagai bentuk ekspresi linguistik dalam musik sering kali mengandung struktur sintaksis yang khas, termasuk penggunaan subjek yang dapat mengalami penghilangan, penekanan, atau pergeseran makna. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini mengkaji setiap baris lirik lagu untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi subjek dalam struktur kalimat, kategori kata atau frasa yang mengisinya, serta peran semantis subjek. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa subjek dalam lirik lagu tersebut umumnya berupa pronomina orang pertama tunggal dan pronomina orang kedua tunggal yang berperan sebagai agen, tema, atau pengalam (experiencer) dalam struktur semantis kalimat. Kategori subjek didominasi oleh nomina, sedangkan fungsi subjek meliputi peran sebagai agen dan pengalam. Temuan ini memperkuat gagasan bahwa lirik lagu, meskipun bersifat artistik dan ekspresif, tetap mematuhi prinsip sintaksis yang dapat dikaji secara ilmiah. Penelitian ini tidak hanya memperkaya kajian linguistik dalam ranah budaya populer, tetapi juga membuka peluang untuk pengembangan penelitian serupa pada lirik lagu lain dengan pendekatan sintaksis dan semantis yang lebih luas.

Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif Number Head Together (NHT) yang dipadukan dengan media video animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks narasi siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas kombinasi model NHT dengan media video animasi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis narasi siswa serta membandingkan hasilnya dengan metode konvensional. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterampilan menulis siswa, yang terlihat dari kesulitan mereka dalam menuangkan ide dan gagasan ke dalam tulisan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi experiment dengan pengukuran pre-test dan post-test. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes uraian dan observasi aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 45 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling dari populasi sasaran, kemudian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen (yang mendapat perlakuan) dan kelompok kontrol (yang menggunakan metode konvensional). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model NHT yang didukung oleh media video animasi memberikan peningkatan positif sebesar 23,7% pada kemampuan menulis narasi siswa. Selain itu, hasil uji N-Gain pada kelompok eksperimen mencapai 46,26%, yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penerapan model pembelajaran Number Head Together (NHT) dengan bantuan media video animasi terbukti sebagai alat pembelajaran yang efektif.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis novel Jangan Salahkan Aku Selingkuh karya Renita April dengan menggunakan perspektif strukturalisme genetik Lucien Goldmann. Kajian ini menelusuri fakta kemanusiaan, baik individu maupun sosial, subjek kolektif yang direpresentasikan melalui kelas sosial, serta pandangan dunia pengarang yang terefleksi melalui nilai humanisme dan eksistensialisme. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi, sedangkan data diperoleh dari kutipan naratif dalam novel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel ini tidak hanya mengisahkan konflik rumah tangga dan perselingkuhan, tetapi juga merefleksikan realitas sosial masyarakat Indonesia, seperti degradasi moral, stratifikasi sosial, serta perjuangan individu dalam mencari makna hidup. Pandangan dunia pengarang menekankan pentingnya nilai kesetiaan, kejujuran, empati, kebebasan, dan tanggung jawab yang relevan dengan konteks sosial masyarakat kontemporer. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa karya sastra berfungsi sebagai cermin realitas sosial sekaligus sarana kritik dan penyampaian nilai-nilai kemanusiaan.

The problem in this study is the Crisis of Language Civility Among Kpopers in the X / Twitter Application. This politeness crisis was studied to address the problem of decreasing the quality of polite language use, because people, especially young K-Pop fans, use less polite words as insert words used in everyday life when using social media. This study aims to determine and describe the crisis of language politeness among kpopers in the X / Twitter application. In this study, researchers used Leech's theory which consists of ten maxims of language politeness. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive method. The source of data in this study is found on Kpopers in the X / Twitter application. The methods used to collect data are Listen, documentation, and record. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analytical techniques, then the data validity technique used is source triangulation. From the results of research on the crisis of language politeness in kpopers factories in the X / twitter application, 9 forms of language politeness maxims were found from 10 Leech language politeness maxims.
