Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to implement thermal drying technology to assist PT. Morinaga in processing dairy sludge waste into high-value solid fertilizer, as a tangible manifestation of the Zero Waste Industry commitment. The main problem identified at the company's Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is the accumulation of biological sludge waste with an initial moisture content reaching 85%. This high moisture content triggers a rapid decomposition process and produces extreme odor pollution in less than 24 hours, risking operational comfort and environmental safety. The problem-solving method applied by the service team is Rotary Drum Dryer (RDD) technological engineering, accompanied by technical training for 15 internal staff and technicians of PT. Morinaga. Scientific findings show that RDD implementation can evaporate water instantly, reducing the moisture content to 14%, and shrinking the waste mass from 12 tons to only 1.8 tons per day. The resulting solid fertilizer is proven to meet the SNI 19-7030-2004 agronomic quality standards. The conclusion of this activity proves that comprehensive thermal technology intervention successfully breaks the chain of decomposition, eliminates odor pollution in the factory area, reduces waste management logistics costs by up to 80%, and creates material circulation that supports the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. The results of this community service set a new precedent and operational standard for PT. Morinaga in sustainable industrial waste governance.

Abstract

One of the problems of urban household waste management is caused by the limited availability of data generated and waste characteristics obtained through standardized methods of collection and measurement. This condition is a challenge for local governments in developing data-based waste management plans. This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to disseminate methods of collecting and measuring urban household waste to technical apparatus and the community in order to increase technical understanding and participation in waste data collection. The implementation method is carried out through technical guidance involving Lubuklinggau City Environmental Service staff as surveyors and 250 community members as volunteers. Volunteers collected and sorted household waste at the source level for three consecutive days with the assistance of surveyors. The results of the activity showed that the dissemination of the method was able to support the improvement of technical understanding of the apparatus and community involvement in the collection and measurement of household waste in a structured manner. This activity contributes to strengthening collaboration between local governments and the community and can be an initial reference for the implementation of more systematic and sustainable household waste data collection in similar activities in the future.

Abstract

Digital transformation in public services requires the enhancement of technological literacy among government officials, particularly regarding blockchain technology which has the potential to improve transparency, data security, and efficiency in e-Government services. However, the level of understanding of this technology among public service officers remains relatively low. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve blockchain technology literacy among public service officers at the Regional Revenue Management Center of Kuningan Regency as part of efforts to support e-Government development. The activity was conducted through a webinar-based socialization and educational program consisting of material presentations, interactive discussions, and evaluation of participants’ understanding using pre-test and post-test instruments. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, where most participants who were initially in the low understanding category shifted to the good understanding category after the activity. This improvement is also reflected in the Understanding Index (UI) and the percentage of learning achievement increase. Furthermore, high participant enthusiasm and active involvement during the activity demonstrate the effectiveness of the program. This PKM activity provides a meaningful contribution to strengthening the readiness of human resources as an initial foundation for implementing blockchain technology to support more transparent, secure, and efficient e-Government services.

Abstract

The increase in healthcare service capacity is directly proportional to the surge in waste generation. The non-medical organic solid waste fraction often dominates and triggers environmental sanitation problems if not managed comprehensively. This Community Service (PkM) aims to implement the Zero Waste concept at Wava Husada Hospital through socio-technical interventions by processing organic solid waste into compost and Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC). The core problem presented is the high volume of food scraps from the nutrition installation and garden leaf waste following the expansion of the hospital's capacity to 249 beds. The accumulation of this material has the potential to become an attractant for nosocomial disease vectors and incur financial burdens from final disposal retributions. The problem-solving method was formulated using a participatory approach through intensive training and the application of Takakura basket composter technology and anaerobic reactors, collaborating with cleaning staff and representatives of the surrounding community. Scientific findings from this activity showed a significant increase in participants' cognitive understanding by 65% in technical mastery. Furthermore, laboratory testing proved that the quality of the compost produced met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-2004, marked by a C/N ratio of 15 and optimal macronutrient levels. In conclusion, the decentralized processing of organic waste has proven effective in transforming a cost center into a source of circular economy value-added. The results of this community service play a crucial role as a blueprint for sustainable clinical environmental governance.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented in Rawa Makmur Subdistrict, Samarinda City, with the aim of enhancing political literacy and democratic participation among fishing communities. The activities were designed using a participatory approach, employing interactive lectures, group discussions, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. A total of 50 participants took part in the program, representing five fishermen groups. The training materials focused on democratic principles, the functions of elections, and forms of citizen political participation. Pre-test results indicated that although the majority of participants had a basic understanding of democracy, inaccuracies were still found in responses related to the requirements for valid elections and the functions of political participation. Following the training, post-test results demonstrated a significant improvement, with all participants understanding the core principles of democracy and the functions of elections, and 98% of participants correctly answering questions regarding democratic characteristics, electoral periods, and the legal requirements of elections. These findings indicate that inclusive political education using a participatory approach is effective in improving political literacy among coastal communities. The program not only strengthened procedural understanding of democracy but also fostered substantive awareness of the importance of citizen engagement in local-level public decision-making.
