Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between parental autonomy support and career decision-making difficulties among fresh graduates in Padang City. The research is grounded in the significance of parental autonomy support in helping recent graduates navigate challenges in career decision-making. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 385 participants who had completed their studies within the past year, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using two instruments: the Career Decision Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) and the Parental Autonomy Support Scale (PASS), and analyzed using the Spearman-rank correlation test. The findings reveal correlations between dimensions of both variables. The autonomy support dimension is negatively correlated with lack of readiness, lack of information, and inconsistent information, indicating that higher parental autonomy support is associated with lower levels of career decision-making difficulties. Conversely, the controlling parenting dimension is positively correlated with all three difficulty dimensions, suggesting that controlling parenting styles may exacerbate barriers in the career decision-making process. These findings underscore the importance of autonomy-supportive parenting in fostering career readiness among recent graduates.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe the aesthetic values of Tari Piriang Rantak Kudo, a traditional dance developed at Sanggar Kuranji Sejati, located in Kuranji Subdistrict, Padang City. The research is grounded in the importance of preserving traditional performing arts that are rich in cultural meaning and local aesthetic values. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with the researcher serving as the main instrument, supported by writing tools and a camera. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal that the aesthetic value of Tari Piriang Rantak Kudo is reflected in three main aspects: form, substance, and performance. The form includes movement sequences such as masuk, sambah, manatiang piriang, and maangin, as well as linear and curved floor patterns. The dance is performed by two female dancers accompanied by traditional saluang pauh and gandang katindik music, using props such as plates and a proscenium stage. The substance aspect encompasses atmosphere, ideas, and symbolism (ibarat), while performance includes dancers’ talent, technical skills, and media support. These three aspects collectively form a distinctive aesthetic value that enriches the Minangkabau cultural heritage through meaningful traditional dance expression.

Abstract

The term "progressive Muslim" has become increasingly prominent in contemporary Islamic thought, referring to individuals or groups who interpret Islamic teachings contextually, respond actively to the dynamics of the times, and emphasize values such as social justice, gender equality, human rights, and pluralism. This article aims to explore the definition of progressive Muslims and analyze their position and role within the framework of the Islamic worldview. A qualitative approach was employed using literature study methods, focusing on the works of prominent progressive Muslim thinkers and supported by critical analysis of relevant literature. The findings reveal that progressive Muslims engage not only in the reinterpretation of religious texts but also in reaffirming Islam's relevance to modern challenges while maintaining a connection to its traditional roots. Within the perspective of the Islamic worldview, progressive Muslims are seen as agents of change who integrate the principles of maqashid syariah to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity. As such, the progressive approach is crucial for preserving Islam’s continuity and adaptive capacity in a complex and dynamic era of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the choreography of Tari Dulang Badarak, as developed at Sanggar Tari Galatiak. The research is grounded in the importance of choreographic documentation as part of preserving traditional performing arts that embody cultural values and local aesthetic expression. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation, using tools such as writing instruments, a camera, audio cassette, and flash drive. The findings show that the choreographic creation process includes the stages of ideation, exploration, improvisation, and composition. The dance is inspired by the makan bajamba tradition and children's games, developed into three main sequences: playing with dulang, communal dining, and playful drumming on the dulang. Floor patterns include A-shape, horizontal, square, and diagonal formations. The choreography comprises 19 movement variations, categorized into meaningful gestures (e.g., carrying the dulang on the head) and pure movements (e.g., swinging in zigzag patterns), which contribute to the dance’s expressive aesthetic and cultural significance. The performance is accompanied by techno music as an innovative element, while makeup and traditional Minangkabau costumes are modified to support movement comfort. The integration of these elements results in a harmonious, communicative, and visually meaningful dance performance.

Abstract

Moral education is a fundamental aspect of character formation at the primary level, particularly in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This article aims to analyze the role of tahfidz al-Qur’an instruction as a strategy for strengthening moral education within the madrasah environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, the study finds that tahfidz functions not only as a process of memorizing the sacred text but also as a medium for the internalization of moral values contained in the Qur’an. The implementation of tahfidz integrated with character development has been shown to foster religious, disciplined, honest, and responsible behavior in students. The success of this internalization process is significantly influenced by the teacher’s role as a moral exemplar, the creation of a supportive school environment, and the application of contextual learning methods relevant to students' daily lives. Therefore, tahfidz al-Qur’an serves as an effective instrument for cultivating noble character from an early age in Islamic primary education.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in developing human competencies holistically by integrating cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects, while emphasizing a balance between spiritual development and scientific knowledge in accordance with the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah. This study aims to explore curriculum integration at MI Sultan Fatah Demak, which combines Islamic and general education through two frameworks: the Kurikulum Merdeka and the pesantren curriculum. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of the curriculum through interviews, observations, and documentation involving students and educators. The findings reveal that the curriculum incorporates both formal and informal components designed to instill spiritual values and religious knowledge systematically. Diverse teaching methods are employed to foster a comprehensive understanding of Islamic principles while preparing students for higher levels of education. This curriculum integration reflects the institution’s commitment to shaping individuals who are faithful, devout, and intellectually competent, while supporting national educational goals within the context of Indonesian culture. The study underscores the importance of a contextual and integrative curriculum design in enhancing the quality of education in madrasahs.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of akhlak mulia (noble character) from the perspective of Islamic education, emphasizing that akhlak is not merely a set of social norms but a manifestation of faith and individual religiosity. The research is grounded in the central aim of Islamic education, which goes beyond intellectual development to include the formation of morally upright, civilized, and spiritually responsible individuals. A qualitative method with a literature review approach was employed, analyzing both classical and contemporary sources, including the thoughts of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Miskawaih, Al-Attas, and Quraish Shihab. The study identifies the philosophical and theological foundations of akhlak in Islamic education, as well as its objectives, methods, and implementation in educational institutions. The findings reveal that the cultivation of noble character requires a holistic approach encompassing cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Furthermore, the research underscores the urgency of revitalizing moral education in response to contemporary challenges, such as value degradation and the adverse effects of technological advancement. This study contributes to enriching the paradigm of Islamic education by affirming the importance of integrating knowledge and ethics, heart and intellect, and worldly and spiritual goals within the educational process.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive examination of Islamic educational thought according to Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, a prominent Muslim intellectual renowned for his ideas on the Islamization of knowledge and the concept of adab as the core of education. The research is grounded in the relevance of Al-Attas’s educational paradigm as a response to the epistemological crisis afflicting contemporary education. Employing a qualitative, literature-based approach, the study begins with an intellectual biography of Al-Attas, followed by an analysis of key concepts in his thought, including the Islamic educational paradigm, his critique of the modern secular education system, the concept of adab, and strategies for the Islamization of knowledge. The findings reveal that Al-Attas not only presents a sharp critique of the dichotomy of knowledge and the erosion of values in modern education, but also offers an alternative framework that is holistic, spiritual, and rooted in the Islamic worldview. His concept of education based on adab represents a total transformation of the goals, structure, and values of education, positioning knowledge as a path to ma‘rifatullah and adab as the foundation for character formation. Thus, education according to Al-Attas functions as a principal instrument for building an authentic, resilient, and meaningful Islamic civilization amid global challenges.

Abstract

The digital era has had a significant impact on students' lives, particularly in shaping their morals and character. This study aims to identify moral value issues emerging among students at MA Al-Islam Jamsaren Surakarta and to explore Islamic educational strategies, especially within the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject in fostering moral character amid the challenges posed by technology and digital media. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three PAI teachers as the primary informants. The findings reveal that the main challenges in students’ moral development include the negative influence of social media, a decline in courteous behavior, and weak responsibility regarding academic tasks and learning ethics. Nevertheless, Islamic education through integrative approaches, the habitual practice of Islamic values, and teacher role modelling has proven to be a relevant and contextual strategy. This study underscores the critical role of PAI teachers not only as educators but also as moral mentors and role models for students in navigating the complexities of the digital age.

Abstract

The digital era has introduced new challenges in social interaction, necessitating ethical guidelines that are both relevant and applicable. This study aims to contextually analyze the function of hadith as a guide for social ethics in navigating digital transformation. A descriptive qualitative method was employed using a literature review approach, focusing on hadiths related to social ethics and their relevance within digital life contexts. The findings show that ethical values found in hadith—such as honesty, respectful speech, preservation of dignity, and mutual respect—remain relevant and can be applied to regulate behavior on social media and other digital platforms. Hadith functions not only as a source of moral norms in Islam but also contains universal principles adaptable to changing times. The study concludes that a contextual understanding of hadith is essential for addressing evolving social dynamics in the digital age. These findings highlight the importance of digital literacy grounded in hadith-based values as a foundation for cultivating civilized, wise, and responsible social ethics in digital spaces.
