Abstract

Although the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has been widely studied as an innovative learning strategy, research that specifically discusses its implementation and impact on Fiqh learning outcomes at the Madrasah Aliyah level, particularly on the topic of funeral rites, remains limited. This study aims to explain the implementation of the PBL model, determine the improvement in learning outcomes, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application in the Fiqh subject at MA Ismailiyah Ngusikan Jombang. This study used a qualitative approach with a Classroom Action Research design conducted in two cycles, involving 12 tenth-grade students as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation, and were then analyzed using a comparative descriptive technique to compare the results across cycles. The results showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model was able to significantly improve students’ learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 52.5 in the pre-cycle to 70 in Cycle I and 83.3 in Cycle II. Classical learning completeness also increased from 8.3% to 91.6% at the end of Cycle II. These findings contribute to strengthening constructivist and cognitive theory, while also expanding understanding of the effectiveness of problem-based learning in the context of Islamic religious education. This study concludes that the teacher’s role as a facilitator and the use of contextual problems are important factors in improving Fiqh learning outcomes, and also underscores the need for educators’ creativity in designing problem-based learning to support the improvement of learning quality in madrasah.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the practice of qardh accompanied by the provision that corn farmers who borrow must pledge their corn fields to the toke, are required to sell their harvest to the lender, face differences in purchase prices between indebted and non-indebted farmers, and are subject to the toke taking profit from the sale of harvested corn per ton. This study aims to describe the practice of qardh in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur and to analyze it from the perspective of Islamic Economics. This study used a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the practice of qardh between corn farmers and toke in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur was generally influenced by economic factors and the limited access to transportation for farmers to reach the corn fields. The practice of qardh was not entirely based on the spirit of mutual assistance, but was instead accompanied by certain interests that bound the farmers. The contract used took the form of a verbal agreement covering all loan provisions. From the perspective of Islamic Economics, the application of Islamic economic principles in this practice has not been fully implemented, because corn farmers have applied only some of the existing principles. This study concludes that the practice of qardh taking place in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur still leaves problems in the application of Islamic Economic principles, particularly in relation to justice, public benefit, and the orientation of mutual assistance in lending transactions.

Abstract

Although strategies to increase coffee farmers’ income have received attention in various studies, research that specifically discusses coffee farming strategies in a local context remains limited. This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by coffee farmers to increase their income and to identify the obstacles faced in developing coffee farming. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 20 coffee farmers as informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the strategies implemented by coffee farmers to increase income included market development, product development, market penetration, integration, and diversification. The market development strategy was carried out through the expansion of marketing beyond the jorong area and the sale of coffee in the form of green beans at a higher selling price. The product development strategy was carried out through the selection of Arabica Ciari and Robusta coffee varieties and the processing of coffee from raw beans into powder. In addition, farmers also implemented market penetration, integration, and diversification strategies to increase added value and reduce economic risk. However, farmers still faced internal constraints in the form of limited capital, the not yet optimal implementation of post-harvest practices, and a lack of training and extension services, so that plantation management still depended on individual experience. External constraints included weather changes, pest and plant disease attacks, and fluctuations in coffee prices. This study concludes that the strategies implemented have contributed to increasing farmers’ income, but have not yet operated optimally due to various constraints. Therefore, the optimization of farming strategies and the enhancement of farmers’ capacity are important factors in improving the welfare of coffee farmers.

Abstract

Although cooperative learning models have received attention in various previous studies, research that specifically discusses the implementation of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model in improving learning activeness in Islamic Education (PAI) at the junior secondary school level still requires further exploration. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the STAD-type cooperative learning model in improving students’ learning activeness in the PAI subject. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving informants consisting of the principal, vice principal for curriculum, PAI teacher, and students of Class VII D at SMP Negeri 1 Tembelang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the STAD learning model was effective and able to improve students’ learning activeness, as reflected in the increased participation of students in discussions, asking questions, and the courage to express opinions during the learning process. These findings contribute to strengthening cooperative learning theory and expanding understanding of strategies to enhance student engagement in the context of religious education. The conclusion of the study emphasizes that systematic steps in STAD, such as class presentation, learning teams, quizzes, progress scores, and rewards, play an important role in creating an interactive and collaborative learning atmosphere. This study also emphasizes the need for effective time management and attention to differences in the level of activeness among students so that the implementation of STAD can proceed optimally.

Abstract

Although studies on teachers’ efforts to address students’ difficulties in memorizing the Al-Qur’an have been conducted previously, discussions that specifically highlight these efforts through structured evaluation remain limited. This study aims to examine the forms of students’ difficulties in memorizing the Al-Qur’an at SD IT Hasanah, Pantai Cermin Subdistrict, as well as the efforts made by teachers to address them through various forms of evaluation. This study used a qualitative method with a case study type. The data sources were obtained from informants selected through purposive sampling, and were supported by primary and secondary data. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ difficulties in memorizing the Al-Qur’an included low motivation, lack of seriousness, infrequent muraja’ah, and not yet optimal mastery of makharijul huruf and tajwid. In addressing these difficulties, teachers applied context, input, process, and outcome evaluation. These findings indicate that structured evaluation can be an effective way to improve students’ Al-Qur’an memorization ability, shape religious and disciplined character, and serve as a reference for teachers in carrying out tahfiz activities sustainably. This study emphasizes the importance of continuous evaluation in addressing students’ difficulties in memorizing the Al-Qur’an and opens opportunities for further research on the role of parents in assisting students’ memorization at home.

Abstract

Although the use of digital learning media has received considerable attention in previous studies, research that specifically discusses the development of website-based learning media integrating various interactive features in Islamic Education learning, particularly on the topic of kalimah ṭayyibah in elementary schools, remains limited. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of the BUDIMAN educational website (Budaya Islami untuk Generasi Beriman) as an interactive learning medium for third-grade elementary school students. This study used a qualitative approach with the Design and Development (D&D) method through the ADDIE model, involving 37 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that the BUDIMAN website was in the very feasible category based on expert validation, with a material expert validation percentage of 100% and a media expert validation percentage of 97.5%. In addition, students showed high enthusiasm and engagement during the learning process. These findings contribute to the development of interactive digital learning media and broaden understanding of technology integration in Islamic Education learning in elementary schools. This study concludes that interactive website-based learning media have an important role in increasing students’ engagement and understanding of kalimah ṭayyibah material, so the use of innovative digital media needs to be optimized to support more effective learning.

Abstract

Globalization has intensified information flows, modernization, and social interactions, creating both opportunities and challenges for the preservation of local customary values. Within this context, the Kajang Ammatoa indigenous community in Tana Towa Village, Bulukumba Regency, Indonesia, continues to uphold Pasang ri Kajang as a normative guide governing human relationships with others, nature, and the Creator. This study aimed to analyze the socio-cultural impacts of globalization on the community and to examine the strategies employed to preserve Pasang ri Kajang values amid ongoing social change. The research adopted a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with customary leaders and knowledgeable community members, and document analysis. The findings indicate that globalization has encouraged gradual social adaptation without directly eroding the community’s core values. The principal preservation strategies include strengthening the authority of customary institutions, maintaining a simple way of life through Kamase-masea, and transmitting values through everyday social practices. The study also found that the community selectively adapts modern elements while remaining anchored to its foundational norms. Interpreted through Anthony Giddens’ structuration theory, Pasang ri Kajang functions as a normative structure that is continuously reproduced and negotiated by social agents through reflexive practice. The study concludes that cultural continuity within the Kajang Ammatoa community is dynamic rather than static, sustained through reflective adaptation that enables Pasang ri Kajang to remain relevant amid globalization. These findings contribute to the understanding of indigenous cultural resilience and demonstrate how customary communities preserve core values while negotiating contemporary social transformations.

Abstract

Although the relationship between self-efficacy and learning outcomes has been widely discussed in various studies, studies that specifically examine the relationship between self-efficacy and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAI and BP) among vocational high school students remain limited. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and PAI and BP learning outcomes among students at SMK Swasta Pembangunan Bukittinggi. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 60 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire to measure self-efficacy and score documentation to measure learning outcomes, and were then analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation technique. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and learning outcomes, with a correlation coefficient of 0.264 and a significance value of 0.042 (< 0.05). These findings indicate that students with higher self-efficacy tend to have better learning outcomes, although the level of relationship found was in the low category. This study contributes to strengthening self-efficacy theory in the context of PAI and BP learning and broadens understanding of the role of psychological factors in the achievement of vocational high school students’ learning outcomes. The conclusion of this study confirms that self-efficacy is one of the factors that contributes to students’ learning success. Therefore, teachers and educational institutions need to develop learning strategies that can enhance students’ self-efficacy. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the field of educational psychology and practical contributions to the development of character-based learning, while also opening opportunities for further research on other factors that influence student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Although social support is considered to have an important role in the process of student adjustment, studies that specifically discuss the relationship between social support and the adjustment of students from Papua in the higher education environment remain limited. This study aims to determine whether or not there is a relationship between social support and the adjustment of students from Papua at Universitas Negeri Padang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 10 Papuan students as research participants. Data were collected through social support and adjustment questionnaires and were then analyzed using the Spearman-rho correlation test. The results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.431 with a significance value of 0.231, which means that there was no significant relationship between social support and adjustment. In addition, most students were in the moderate category for both variables. These findings indicate that social support is not the main factor affecting the adjustment of Papuan students at Universitas Negeri Padang. This study contributes to strengthening studies in educational psychology and cross-cultural student adaptation, while also providing practical implications that the adjustment of migrant students needs to be understood more comprehensively by considering factors other than social support.

Abstract

Although the integration of Islamic educational values with local wisdom is important in shaping students’ religious character, studies that specifically analyze these values and their internalization process in Minang Sahari activities remain limited. This study aims to describe the Islamic educational values contained in Minang Sahari activities and to analyze their internalization process among students at SMP Negeri 13 Padang. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research informants consisted of the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques, while data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that Minang Sahari activities contain Islamic educational values that include aqidah, worship, morality, and muamalah. These values are reflected in various activities, such as the use of traditional attire, traditional art performances, the use of the Minangkabau language, and the implementation of customary traditions rich in religious and social meaning. The process of internalizing values was carried out through habituation, role modeling, and direct experience (learning by doing) involving students’ active participation. This activity was proven to be able to shape students’ religious character, such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and respect for others. This study concludes that Minang Sahari activities function not only as a means of preserving local culture, but also as an effective medium for instilling Islamic educational values contextually within the school environment.
