Abstract

Twenty-first-century education requires a transformation from a one-way teaching model toward a learning ecosystem that positions students as active subjects in the learning process. In Islamic secondary schools in Indonesia, the Kurikulum Merdeka policy has encouraged flexibility and student-centered learning. However, teacher-centered learning practices remain dominant, so learning initiative, the ability to determine strategies, and self-reflection as the core of student agency are still developing partially and inconsistently. This study aims to examine the misalignment between participatory curriculum design and students’ learning experiences at the classroom level, particularly in relation to the concept of ta’dib as the ethical-epistemic foundation of Islamic education. The discussion shows that ta’dib is often reduced to a set of rules of external compliance, without being accompanied by space for meaningful moral reflection. This condition indicates value disorientation and structural misalignment in educational practice, which affects the instability of students’ subjectivity and moral agency. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of reorienting Islamic learning so that it not only stresses formal compliance but also develops students’ reflective awareness, moral responsibility, and active participation as part of holistic education.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at Sahabat Qur’an El Yamin Islamic Boarding School in Pacitan still faces obstacles in the form of low student motivation and vocabulary mastery, mainly because of the dominance of lecture and memorization methods, which tend to make learning perceived as difficult and boring. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the Sing a Song approach, analyze its impact on learning motivation and participation, and identify obstacles and improvement strategies in the Islamic boarding school context. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving teachers, students, and Islamic boarding school administrators as informants. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results showed that the Sing a Song approach was able to increase motivation, participation, and Arabic vocabulary mastery. However, its implementation still faced obstacles in the form of some students’ dependence on the song format and a lack of understanding of vocabulary meanings. These findings confirm that the Sing a Song approach is effective as a creative learning strategy in Islamic boarding schools, but it needs to be combined with grammatical explanation and communicative practice so that Arabic language understanding becomes more comprehensive. The implications of this study indicate that this approach can be adopted in the development of music-based Arabic language modules and curricula in other Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Although the Baritan tradition remains an important part of the social life of the Wati Hamlet community, the dynamics of modernization pose challenges to its sustainability, youth participation, and the development of its social functions. This study aimed to analyze the existence and transformation of the Baritan tradition in the social life of the Wati Hamlet community and to identify empowerment potential that can be developed amid social change. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, with participants consisting of customary leaders, community members, and young people selected purposively. The results showed that the Baritan tradition continues to survive as a cultural practice with strong spiritual and social values, particularly mutual cooperation, togetherness, and gratitude. However, the sustainability of this tradition faces challenges in the form of low youth participation, the influence of globalization, and limited documentation and promotion. On the other hand, the Baritan tradition has the potential for community empowerment through simple economic activities and community-based cultural development, although its implementation has not yet been optimal. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Baritan tradition has undergone a transformation from a cultural ritual toward a broader social function, thereby offering opportunities to be developed as a basis for community empowerment and the preservation of local wisdom amid modernization.

Abstract

Policies restricting students’ use of personal digital devices have challenged teachers to design engaging and effective learning processes, particularly in Islamic Education learning contexts. This study aims to analyze innovative learning strategies in Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam) using offline learning media amid restrictions on students’ personal digital device use in Grade XI at SMK Sulthon Fattah. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through classroom observations and interviews with Islamic Education staff regarding learning activities. The findings reveal that learning innovation was implemented through offline-based visual and audiovisual media, including PowerPoint slides and instructional videos displayed through a projector as a shared screen. This strategy increased students’ attention, participation, and understanding of Islamic Education materials despite the absence of personal digital devices. Its effectiveness lies in its ability to centralize students’ focus on controlled visual learning sources that align with pesantren-based school policies. The study concludes that offline learning media can serve as a strategic solution for fostering contextual and adaptive innovation in Islamic Education while improving the overall quality of the learning process. These findings contribute to Islamic Education pedagogy by demonstrating how offline media-based instruction can support meaningful learning in technology-restricted school environments.

Abstract

The development of electronic teaching materials has become an important issue in science learning, but studies that specifically discuss the development of e-modules on climate change and global warming materials integrated with the Problem Based Learning model remain limited. This study aimed to determine the validity level of the developed e-module. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The implementation of the study was limited to the develop stage, particularly expert appraisal or validity testing by three experts as validators. The validation instrument was developed based on teaching material development guidelines, with assessment components including material substance, instructional design, visual communication, software utilization, and the suitability of the teaching materials with the learning model. The results of the validity test from the three validators showed a percentage score of 91%, which was categorized as very valid. The conclusion of this study confirms that the e-module on climate change and global warming materials integrated with the Problem Based Learning model is declared valid, so it has the potential to be used as electronic teaching material that supports problem-based learning.

Abstract

The high interest among the people of West Sumatra in working abroad is influenced by economic motives and the cultural value of merantau, while studies on the influence of dissemination quality and training on interest in working abroad through the SIPERANTAU Program remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the influence of dissemination quality and training on interest in working abroad among participants of the SIPERANTAU Program at BP3MI West Sumatra, both partially and simultaneously. This study used a quantitative approach with an associative survey design. The research sample consisted of 154 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that dissemination quality had a positive and significant effect on interest in working abroad, with a t-statistic of 10.988 and a significance value of 0.000. Training also had a positive and significant effect, with a t-statistic of 3.870 and a significance value of 0.000. Simultaneously, dissemination quality and training had a significant effect on interest in working abroad, with an F-statistic of 84.865 and a significance value of 0.000. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.523 indicates that the two variables contributed 52.3%. The conclusion of this study confirms that dissemination quality and training play an important role in increasing SIPERANTAU Program participants’ interest in working abroad. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of synergy between information and training in promoting legal, competent, and protected labor migration.

Abstract

The network of pesantren ulama is a dynamic socio-religious phenomenon because it plays a role in maintaining scholarly continuity, strengthening social solidarity, and responding to changes in social structure within the pesantren system in the Nusantara. This study aimed to examine the network of pesantren ulama by highlighting the role of social solidarity (‘ashabiyah) and changes in social structure within the pesantren tradition. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected from various relevant primary and secondary sources and were then analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that the network of pesantren ulama was formed through mechanisms of scholarly transmission chains, intellectual mobility, and the tradition of teaching kitab kuning, which continuously strengthened social and intellectual attachment. This network was maintained through everyday social practices and developed through educational modernization and the use of digital technology. These findings confirm that the sustainability of ulama networks is supported by strong social solidarity and the process of structural reproduction, while the ability to adapt becomes an important factor in facing social change. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of Islamic sociology studies, while practically it can serve as a basis for formulating pesantren education policies that are more responsive to contemporary developments.

Abstract

Textbook-based tajwid learning is an important strategy for improving the quality of students’ Qur’an recitation, particularly in the context of pesantren education. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of using Mukhtashar Ilmu Tajwid li al-Nasyi’in in improving students’ Qur’an reading ability at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa). This study used a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on the experiences of students and ustaz in the routine tajwid learning process. The research subjects consisted of 40 students aged 14–18 years and three teaching ustaz. The research design comprised three stages, namely pre-intervention, intervention, and post-intervention, with learning methods including talaqqi, musyafahah, demonstration, drill, and murojaah. The results showed that the use of Mukhtashar Ilmu Tajwid li al-Nasyi’in helped students master makharijul huruf, sifatul huruf, the rules of nun sukun and tanwin, the rules of mim sukun, mad wal qashr, qalqalah, as well as waqaf and ibtida’. Although there were challenges in the form of heterogeneous initial abilities among students and limited time allocation, the combination of structural textbook-based learning methods proved effective in improving the accuracy of tajwid rule application and the quality of students’ Qur’an recitation. These findings provide a practical contribution to the development of tajwid learning in pesantren through the use of systematic textbooks and learning methods oriented toward recitation accuracy.

Abstract

Inclusive education is an effort to provide equal opportunities for all students, including students with special needs, to obtain fair and non-discriminatory educational services. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of inclusive education policies and identify the factors influencing their implementation in Koto Tangah Subdistrict, Padang City. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation with informants consisting of representatives from UPTD LDPI, school principals, teachers, and parents of students. The results showed that, in the curriculum aspect, schools used the Kurikulum Merdeka without written modifications; however, in practice, teachers adjusted learning and assessment according to the abilities of students with special needs. In the aspect of teaching staff, there were still limitations in teachers’ understanding and skills in inclusive education, and the availability of Special Guidance Teachers (GPK) was not yet evenly distributed across all schools. In the aspect of facilities and infrastructure, the available facilities were still general in nature and did not fully support the needs of students with special needs, particularly in terms of accessibility for persons with disabilities. The factors influencing the implementation of inclusive education included communication, resources, implementers’ attitudes, and bureaucratic structure. These findings confirm that the implementation of inclusive education in Koto Tangah Subdistrict has been supported by several policy-related factors but still requires strengthening in the equitable distribution of information, improvement of teacher competence, availability of human resources, and provision of more inclusive facilities and infrastructure. The implications of this study indicate the importance of coordination among stakeholders in strengthening the implementation of inclusive education policies so that educational services for students with special needs can operate more optimally.
