Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing communication strategies implemented by PT. Morige Nusa Tenggara to enhance brand awareness as a local food processing enterprise specializing in moringa and sorghum-based products. The core issue explored in this research is the relatively low level of brand awareness in the local market, even though the company’s products have gained recognition at both national and international levels. This paradox highlights the importance of localized and culturally relevant marketing efforts. To address this challenge, the company adopts a variety of marketing communication strategies designed to reach and engage consumers more effectively. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data obtained through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation of company activities and stakeholder interactions. The findings show that the strategies used include advertising through social media platforms, local radio broadcasts, and podcasts; sales promotions such as free product samples and price discounts; direct marketing by participating in trade expos and exhibitions; and public relations initiatives through collaboration with key stakeholders such as Bank NTT, the Department of Trade, and local farming communities. The analysis reveals that customer brand awareness exists at varying levels—from unaware of the brand to top-of-mind recall. Nevertheless, weaknesses in digital content management and inconsistent social media engagement remain major obstacles to sustained communication efforts. This study concludes that a well-integrated and continuous marketing communication strategy is essential for strengthening brand positioning. The findings offer practical implications for local MSMEs seeking to build stronger market presence through adaptive and contextually appropriate communication strategies in the digital era.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill essential to supporting students’ academic success. Based on observations at SD GMIT Airnona 2 in the city of Kupang, it was found that fifth-grade students experienced difficulties in understanding short stories, particularly in identifying intrinsic elements and summarizing story content, even after repeated readings. This study aims to improve short story reading comprehension through the application of the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy. The research employed a classroom action research method in two cycles, involving 26 fifth-grade students, and combined both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation study. The results showed that the implementation of the DRTA strategy significantly improved students’ reading comprehension abilities. The percentage of learning mastery increased from 19.2% in the pre-cycle to 57.7% in the first cycle and reached 100% in the second cycle. The students’ average scores also increased from 69.4 to 80.8, accompanied by improvements in teacher activity and student engagement during the learning process. These findings indicate that the DRTA strategy can be an effective instructional approach to address low reading comprehension among elementary school students and is recommended as an alternative method in literacy instruction.

Abstract

Organizational culture and work environment are two variables that are theoretically believed to influence employee performance, although previous research has shown inconsistent findings. This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational culture and work environment on employee performance at the Office of Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services (Dinas Penanaman Modal dan Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu) of West Sumatra Province. A quantitative approach was used with a total sampling technique, involving 45 employees as respondents. The main instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, supported by an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using a t-test with the assistance of the latest version of SPSS software. The results show that organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (p = 0.001 < 0.05), while the work environment does not show a significant effect (p = 0.209 > 0.05). These findings affirm that strengthening organizational culture through the instillation of collective work values, open communication, and shared commitment contributes more significantly to performance improvement than physical aspects of the work environment. The implications of this study highlight the importance of managerial strategies focused on building a healthy organizational culture as a means to enhance employee productivity.

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the problem of low student achievement in mathematics, which is attributed to the lack of appropriate instructional models and media. As a solution, the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model was employed, combined with the use of a "smart ladder" media within a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. The main objective of this study was to determine the improvement in students’ mathematics learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the STAD model and smart ladder media. The study was conducted in two cycles. Data analysis results showed an improvement at each stage. In the pre-cycle phase, the students' average score was only 51.7. After implementing the first cycle, the average score increased to 65.8, although it had not yet met the minimum mastery criteria. Therefore, the study continued to the second cycle, which resulted in a significant improvement, with an average score of 80.4 and a 12% increase in mastery compared to the previous cycle. This achievement met the established mastery criteria, and the study was concluded at the second cycle. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the STAD model combined with the smart ladder media is proven to be effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This approach is recommended as an alternative strategy for teaching mathematics in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on reading difficulties among elementary school students, despite the fact that such issues significantly impact academic achievement and literacy development. The aim of this study is to analyze the various obstacles affecting the reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN Pacarkembang 1/192. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with a sample consisting of the principal, classroom teacher, and students selected through purposive sampling based on their direct involvement in the learning process. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed thematically. The results reveal that students’ reading difficulties include low reading interest, slow reading speed, difficulty identifying main ideas and key information, and trouble maintaining focus when reading long texts. Contributing factors are categorized into internal factors, such as lack of reading awareness and low learning motivation, and external factors, such as limited family support and the absence of a literacy culture at home. These findings emphasize the importance of the environment in literacy development and support theories that view literacy as a product of individual interaction with social context. The main conclusion of this study is that reading comprehension ability is influenced by a combination of individual and social environmental factors. The implications include theoretical contributions to the literature on basic literacy and practical recommendations for teachers to adopt more engaging instructional strategies, and for parents to create a home environment that supports reading activities. This study also opens opportunities for further research on effective interventions to increase students’ reading interest and habits.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low quality of education in Indonesia, as reflected in the 2022 PISA survey results, particularly in Mathematics, which highlight that mastering numeracy competencies remains a major challenge. This issue is of particular concern in the context of high achieving students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning strategies and self motivation of students who have excelled in the National Science Olympiad (Olimpiade Sains Nasional or OSN) in Mathematics at the city level. A qualitative approach was used with a case study design, and the research subject was a sixth grade student at SDN Pacarkembang 1/192 Surabaya who had achieved success in the OSN. Data collection techniques included in depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, which were thematically analyzed to explore learning patterns and success supporting factors. The findings reveal that the student applied structured learning strategies, such as the Pomodoro technique, drill and practice, and intensive pattern recognition of questions. The student’s learning motivation was combinative, consisting of intrinsic motivation such as a strong desire to master Mathematics, and extrinsic motivation including the desire for recognition and certificates. External factors such as parental and teacher support, as well as the use of technology and digital learning resources, were also found to be significant in supporting the student’s success. The main conclusion of this study is that success in academic competitions like OSN is determined not only by cognitive ability but also by a combination of effective learning strategies, strong self motivation, and a holistically supportive learning environment. The implications of this study include contributions to the literature on achievement oriented Mathematics learning, and practical recommendations for teachers and parents to create conducive learning environments that support the development of numeracy and students’ academic potential. This study also opens opportunities for further research on educational interventions to optimally nurture gifted students.

Abstract

Employee work ethic is one of the key factors in improving organizational performance, particularly in the government sector. However, low levels of enthusiasm and work motivation among employees can still be found, which may affect the achievement of organizational goals. This study aims to analyze the influence of human relation and work environment on employee work ethic at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office (Dinas Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral or ESDM) of West Sumatra Province. A quantitative approach with a survey method was used. The population of the study consisted of all 62 employees of the ESDM Office, and total sampling was applied. The instrument used was a closed-ended questionnaire with a Likert scale, while the data analysis technique was multiple linear regression processed using SPSS software. The results show that the human relation variable has a positive and significant effect on employee work ethic, with a t-value of 3.827, greater than the t-table value of 1.67109, and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. Similarly, the work environment variable also has a positive and significant effect, with a t-value of 2.148 > t-table 1.67109 and a significance level of 0.036 < 0.05. These findings indicate that improving the quality of interpersonal relationships among employees and creating a conducive work environment can significantly enhance work ethic. Therefore, both factors should be prioritized in human resource development strategies within government institutions.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of student engagement in learning the topic of plane figure elements, which affects their motivation, interest in mathematics, and participation in group activities. The purpose of this research is to improve student motivation and learning outcomes through the implementation of the Make a Match learning model in mathematics instruction. The study used a classroom action research method conducted in two cycles, with stages including planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The research subjects were 12 third-grade students at SD 3 Barongan Kudus. The results show an improvement in learning outcomes, with the percentage of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Learning Criteria (KKTP) increasing from 75.00% in the first cycle to 83.33% in the second cycle. Additionally, student activity levels rose from 66.67% to 83.33%. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the Make a Match learning model significantly improves student motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics, particularly in the topic of plane figure elements. The implications of this research suggest that enjoyable and collaborative learning strategies can more effectively encourage student involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

The decline in employee performance at PDAM Kota Padang is reflected in high rates of absenteeism, tardiness, and low productivity, indicating a gap in understanding the internal factors influencing performance. This study aims to examine the effects of competence, organizational commitment, and employee engagement on employee performance. A quantitative approach with a survey method was used, involving 95 respondents selected through total sampling. The research instrument was a standardized questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to assess the partial and simultaneous effects of each variable. The results show that all three variables, competence, organizational commitment, and employee engagement, have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Among them, employee engagement emerged as the most dominant factor, indicating that employees who are emotionally and cognitively involved in their work demonstrate high dedication and are capable of achieving optimal performance. These findings highlight the importance of human resource management strategies focused on enhancing individual competence, strengthening organizational loyalty, and creating a supportive work environment that fosters psychological engagement. Such strategies are essential for maintaining and improving service quality in public sector organizations like PDAM.

Abstract

Employee performance in public sector organizations is strongly influenced by the effectiveness of accounting information systems and internal control systems. However, there remains a gap in understanding the simultaneous contribution of these two systems to employee performance in local government institutions. This study aims to analyze the impact of accounting information system implementation and internal control systems on employee performance at the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency of West Sumatra Province. A quantitative approach was used, employing a survey method with questionnaires distributed to employees selected through convenience sampling. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability before being analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software. The results show that the accounting information system has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, indicating that an efficient system can improve productivity and work accuracy. Conversely, the internal control system shows a negative but significant effect on employee performance, suggesting that overly bureaucratic implementation can reduce flexibility and hinder work initiative. The conclusion of this study highlights the importance of optimizing accounting information systems to support work efficiency and the need to evaluate the design and application of internal control systems to ensure they align with the goal of enhancing employee performance in public organizations.
