Abstract

This study is motivated by the gap in understanding regarding the influence of profitability and company growth on firm value in Indonesia’s banking sector, particularly during the 2019–2023 period. The objective is to examine the effect of profitability and company growth on firm value among banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (Bursa Efek Indonesia or BEI). A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis based on panel data, obtained from the annual financial statements of 38 banking companies selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using E-Views version 12 software and included model feasibility tests (Chow test, Hausman test, and Lagrange Multiplier test), normality test, and partial hypothesis testing using the t-test at a 5% significance level. The results indicate that profitability, measured by Return on Assets (ROA), has a positive and significant effect on firm value, while company growth does not show a significant effect. These findings confirm that profitability is a primary determinant of firm value as perceived by investors in the BEI banking sector. This research contributes meaningfully to corporate financial management and investment strategy in the banking industry and recommends that future studies expand the variables and sample scope to generate more comprehensive and applicable insights.

Abstract

This study is motivated by inconsistencies in previous findings regarding the factors influencing financial performance, particularly in companies listed under the LQ45 index. The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of capital structure, measured by the Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), and firm size on the financial performance of LQ45 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (Bursa Efek Indonesia or BEI) during the 2014–2023 period. A quantitative approach was used with purposive sampling, resulting in 15 companies selected from the total 45 in the LQ45 index, with a ten-year observation period. Data were obtained from annual financial reports and analyzed using panel data regression with EViews 12 software. The results show that capital structure has a negative and significant effect on financial performance, while firm size has a positive and significant effect. These findings indicate that increased debt burden tends to reduce financial performance, whereas larger firm scale contributes positively to achieving better financial outcomes. This study offers practical implications for investors in making investment decisions and serves as an empirical reference for future research related to financial performance analysis in the Indonesian capital market.

Abstract

Income inequality, as reflected by the Gini Ratio, is a key indicator for assessing the fairness of economic distribution, and in Indonesia, its fluctuation over the past decade highlights complex socio-economic dynamics. This study aims to identify the variables influencing changes in the Gini Ratio in Indonesia during the 2014–2023 period. A quantitative approach was applied using secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik) and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. The research employed multiple linear regression analysis, including classical assumption tests, model feasibility tests, as well as t-tests and F-tests for hypothesis testing. The results indicate that among the three variables examined, only the Manufacturing Industry sector has a significant effect on income inequality, while Government Expenditure and National Income do not show a significant influence. These findings confirm that increases in government spending or national income do not directly reduce income inequality. In contrast, the contribution of the manufacturing sector has been shown to improve income distribution, aligning with previous studies suggesting that growth in this sector positively affects inter-provincial economic equity. The practical implications of these results underscore the importance of inclusive industrialization policies and equitable development of the manufacturing sector across all regions of Indonesia as a long-term strategy to sustainably reduce income inequality.

Abstract

Efforts to achieve quality and effective early childhood education continue to demand focused attention, particularly in regions with limited resources. This qualitative study examines effective early childhood education institutions from an educational management perspective, utilizing a descriptive case study design involving three schools in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model with triangulation to ensure credibility. The study explores three central aspects: the role of principals’ leadership in cultivating effective school culture, strategies for managing learning environments, and the implementation of quality assurance systems. Findings indicate that effective early childhood education institutions are distinguished by transformational leadership practices adapted to local contexts, incorporating idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Holistic learning environment management includes the use of learning centers, positive discipline, strategic physical space organization, efficient time management, creative resource utilization, and the promotion of a supportive socio-emotional climate. Additionally, robust quality assurance is achieved through the application of Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles, authentic assessment, detailed documentation, and collaborative stakeholder engagement. The study concludes that the effectiveness of early childhood education institutions is driven not by material wealth or location but by the synergy of adaptive leadership, child-centered learning environment management, and participatory quality assurance mechanisms. These findings offer practical insights for policymakers and educators seeking to strengthen early childhood education in diverse and resource-limited contexts.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has driven significant changes in consumer behavior, including among Generation Z in Indonesia. In this context, e-commerce platforms such as Shopee have utilized live streaming features as an interactive marketing strategy to enhance purchase decisions. This study aims to examine the influence of price, discount, and promotion on consumer purchase decisions via Shopee’s live streaming feature in Jambi City. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected through the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires to 100 Generation Z respondents who are active Shopee users in Jambi. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 30. The results indicate that, partially, the variables of price and promotion have a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions, while discounts do not show a significant influence. Simultaneously, all three variables collectively have a significant effect on purchase decisions. These findings underscore the importance of competitive pricing strategies and effective promotions in enhancing the appeal of live streaming features, and contribute to the development of more responsive digital marketing strategies tailored to the preferences of young consumers.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Inpres Naikoten 2 on the topic of changes in the state of matter in science lessons serve as the background of this study. One contributing factor is the continued use of conventional teaching methods, which result in low student engagement in the learning process. This research aims to evaluate the impact of implementing the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model integrated with the snakes and ladders game as an educational medium to improve student learning outcomes. The study employed a Classroom Action Research approach involving 19 students (7 boys and 12 girls). Data collection techniques included observation of teacher and student activities, evaluation of learning outcomes, and instructional documentation. Data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Prior to the implementation of the TGT model, the student mastery percentage was only 36.84%. After the first cycle, mastery increased to 57.89%, with average teacher activity observation scores at 78.75 and student activity at 72.5. Improvements in the second cycle resulted in a significant increase, with student mastery reaching 89.47%, and teacher and student activity scores at 95 and 98.03, respectively. These findings demonstrate that the TGT model, supported by the snakes and ladders game, fosters an active, competitive, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby positively impacting student achievement. The study implies that integrating the cooperative TGT model with educational games is an innovative and effective strategy for teaching science in elementary schools.

Abstract

The main issue addressed in this study is the low level of employee job satisfaction at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Padang, which is suspected to be caused by high workload and increased burnout levels. This research aims to examine the effects of workload and burnout on employee job satisfaction. A quantitative approach with a survey technique was employed. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to the entire population of 37 employees using total sampling. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS through validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that workload (X₁) and burnout (X₂) have a significant negative effect on job satisfaction (Y), meaning that higher workload and burnout levels correspond to lower employee job satisfaction. The study concludes that management plays a crucial role in managing workload and reducing burnout to create a healthier and more supportive work environment. Practical implications include the need for organizational policies that balance workload and prioritize employee well-being to sustainably enhance job satisfaction and productivity.

Abstract

The ability to write cursive letters is a fundamental skill in elementary education, playing a crucial role in the development of fine motor skills, handwriting neatness, and writing speed, all of which impact students’ overall academic achievement. This study aims to identify the factors causing difficulties in writing cursive letters among second-grade students at SDN Sidodadi 1/153 Surabaya. A qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on a single class group. Observations revealed that students’ writing abilities fell into three categories: high, moderate, and low. Students in the high category demonstrated neat and consistent handwriting, while the moderate category was characterized by irregular letter size and inconsistent spacing between words. The low category featured handwriting that was difficult to read due to untidiness, uneven letter sizes, and irregular spacing between letters. The factors contributing to writing difficulties were divided into internal and external factors. Internal factors included weak fine motor skills, low interest and motivation, insufficient writing practice, and limited understanding of cursive writing rules. External factors, identified through interviews, included excessive gadget use, limited parental involvement in home learning, and less interactive teaching methods. This study highlights the importance of a holistic and collaborative learning approach involving teachers, parents, and the environment to address students’ difficulties in writing cursive letters.

Abstract

Concentration and learning motivation are two crucial factors influencing student success in the educational process, particularly at the elementary school level. However, various obstacles such as physical fatigue, lack of physical activity, and learning boredom often reduce the quality of learning. This study aims to investigate the role of physical fitness activities in enhancing students’ concentration and learning motivation at SD Negeri 091641 Bandar Tinggi. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews involving students and classroom teachers regularly participating in physical fitness activities. The results demonstrate a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of physical fitness activities and improvements in students’ concentration and learning motivation. The average concentration score increased from 68.25 to 78.90, and the learning motivation score rose from 70.40 to 82.15 following consistent participation in physical fitness programs. A paired sample t-test yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference before and after the program. Qualitative findings from interviews corroborate the quantitative data, showing that students active in physical fitness tend to be more alert, disciplined, engaged, and quicker to grasp lessons. In conclusion, the consistent implementation of physical fitness programs is effective in optimally preparing students mentally and physically for learning and can serve as a supportive strategy for academic success in elementary schools.

Abstract

The stock market is a dynamic investment instrument where various micro-market factors influence stock price movements and the returns received by investors. This study aims to analyze the effect of trading frequency, trading volume, trading day, and market volatility on the stock returns of consumer goods sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. A quantitative approach was employed, with the population comprising all consumer goods sector companies on the IDX and a purposive sample of 41 companies. Data were obtained from annual financial reports and analyzed using classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing with SPSS software. The results indicate that trading frequency and market volatility significantly affect stock returns, while trading volume and trading day do not have a significant impact. These findings confirm that trading frequency and volatility are critical indicators for stock investment decision-making. The implication is that investors and capital market players should consider these variables to develop more accurate and responsive investment strategies aligned with market dynamics.
