Abstract

Social media has become the main space for preachers (da’i) to convey religious messages to the wider community. However, the communication methods used often trigger various reactions, especially when associated with diverse social and cultural norms. This study analyzes the virality phenomenon of Gus Miftah's sermons, a preacher known for his assertive and outspoken communication style. This study aims to understand the communication strategies used in his preaching and their impact on public opinion. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through content analysis of viral lecture videos and public responses spread across various social media platforms. The results of the study show that the communication carried out by Gus Miftah has its own appeal because of the use of straightforward language and interactive communication style. However, this strategy also sparks debate, especially related to the ethics of communication in Islamic preaching. This study emphasizes that in the digital era, preachers must be wiser in conveying messages in order to remain effective without causing misunderstandings or controversies that can damage the purpose of preaching itself. Therefore, a deeper understanding of media literacy and communication strategies that are in accordance with Islamic values is needed.

Abstract

This study discusses the interpersonal communication of married couples in building a healthy relationship by applying five aspects of interpersonal communication: openness, empathy, supportiveness, equality, and positivity. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects were five married couples living in Kampung Keluarga Berkualitas Serumpun, Bandung City. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews and literature studies. The results showed that the five aspects of interpersonal communication were consistently applied by the couples to build a healthy relationship. The Kampung KB program also played a role in creating a supportive environment for positive spousal communication. In conclusion, effective interpersonal communication is the main foundation for a healthy and harmonious marriage.

Abstract

This research analyzes the framing of news regarding presidential (capres) and vice-presidential (cawapres) candidates in the 2024 election on the websites rri.co.id and antaranews.com. The main focus of the study is how these two media outlets frame news related to the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024. The objective of this research is to identify and analyze the news frames presented by both websites. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with framing analysis based on Robert N. Entman's model. The results show that rri.co.id provides a positive framing for the Anies-Muhaimin and Prabowo-Gibran pairs, although there are negative elements. Coverage of Ganjar-Mahfud portrays them as enthusiastic and aggressive candidates, while also highlighting the challenges they face. Meanwhile, on antaranews.com, Anies-Muhaimin is presented positively with word emphasis that influences perception, while Prabowo-Gibran is framed more critically, focusing on survey results and past defeats. Ganjar-Mahfud is also presented positively, but the coverage raises skepticism regarding their collaboration with Timnas Amin.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of da'wah promotion in television media on TV One “Damai Indonesiaku” program, on consumer purchasing decisions and increasing sales of Islamic products. This research uses a qualitative approach to explore the meaning, perceptions, and experiences of the figures involved in da'wah promotion and their influence on the sale of Islamic products. This research uses a case study method approach, because this research aims to get a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of da'wah promotion carried out by “Damai Indonesiaku” TV One. Case studies allow in-depth analysis of the communication process, the preparation of da'wah content, and their impact on the sale of Islamic products. Analysis results from previous research on Islamic product manufacturers showed a positive response to the “Damai Indonesiaku” program. Most of them felt that the program provided great benefits in introducing their products to the wider community. Consumers who watched this program stated that the “Damai Indonesiaku” program broadcast on TV One made it easier for them to choose quality, up-to-date products, in accordance with Islamic teachings. Sales data shows a significant increase in products promoted through my “Damai Indonesiaku” program. This program has proven to be effective in increasing consumer awareness about the importance of choosing halal products and in accordance with Islamic principles.

Abstract

In the digital era, hybrid events are an innovative solution in combining two elements, namely physical and virtual audiences. This research aims to analyze the role of MC in maximizing audience engagement through effective communication strategies. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design at several hybrid events. Data collection through observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that the MC has a very strategic role as the main key in an event. Challenges faced by MC include technical obstacles, involvement of both audiences, and sudden changes to the event schedule. The strategies used to create effective communication include inclusive communication, improvising, two-way interaction, appropriate time management, and the use of nonverbal communication which have proven effective in creating a more interactive and inclusive event atmosphere. This research provides practical guidance and enriches the literature. However, limitations in case coverage and research methods indicate the need for further studies with a more comprehensive approach for more representative results.

Abstract

This study analyzes the principle of da'wah at-Tafhim la Talqin in Arrazy Hasyim's da'wah on Youtube entitled "How Noble the Prophet SAW is!" This principle prioritizes on providing understanding (at-Tafhim), invitation, and guidance rather than lecturing (talqin), mocking, and judging in delivering da'wah messages that leave an impression on da'wah partners. The analysis method in this study is Miles and Huberman's content analysis by reducing data, then the data is presented according to categories, then conclusions are drawn. Aiming to find out the constructive meaning of the principle of at-Tafhim la Talqin in Arrazy Hasyim's da'wah, the results of the study show that the at-Tafhim approach in Arrazy Hasyim's videos is able to build understanding and awareness of da'wah partners in understanding and carrying out religious messages.  It shows that this approach becomes an effort to convey communicative and educational messages to all groups of societies.

Abstract

This research explores the evolving role of mosques in contemporary society, particularly focusing on their functions beyond religious observance. The purpose is to examine the various aspects of mosque management, including disaster response, community engagement, health initiatives, financial sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzed literature collected from Scopus database, emphasizing articles published between 2015 and 2025. Findings indicate that mosques have significantly expanded their influence, transforming into key community hubs. They are increasingly recognized for fostering social cohesion through educational programs, health initiatives, and economic empowerment activities. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, mosques adapted quickly by implementing health protocols and providing essential services, thus reinforcing their role in public health management. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of transparent financial practices and the integration of environmental sustainability efforts in mosque operations. The implications of these findings suggest that mosques, when effectively managed, can enhance community resilience, promote socio-economic development, and contribute to environmental sustainability. Future research should investigate the long-term impact of mosque-based programs on community well-being and explore strategies for overcoming barriers such as limited resources and resistance to change. By embracing these roles, mosques can continue to serve as pillars of support and transformation within their communities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the da'wah strategy implemented by the Ummul Fikroh Campus Da'wah Institute (LDK) in an effort to increase student participation at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in campus religious activities. The phenomenon of declining student interest in da'wah activities is a challenge that needs to be responded to with an innovative, contextual approach that is in accordance with the characteristics of Generation Z. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies of core administrators and students involved in LDK activities. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles & Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the LDK Ummul Fikroh da'wah strategy includes a personal approach, utilization of digital media, implementation of thematic activities such as Self Healing, and preparation of programs based on audience research. This strategy is able to increase student participation gradually, although challenges in terms of continuity and adaptation to student dynamics are still obstacles. This study emphasizes the importance of two-way communication, content innovation, and a responsive approach to student needs in making campus da'wah a success

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of Islamic preaching messages delivered in the “Ngaji Ngabuburit Sparkling Ramadan 1446 H” program held at the National Al Akbar Mosque, Surabaya. The research specifically focuses on four preachers: Ustadz Nawawi, Dr. KH. Syukron Djazilan Badri, M.Pd.I, Ustadz HM Sholeh Drehem, Lc., M.Ag, and DR. KH. M. Sudjak, M.Ag, each of whom presented themes relevant to spiritual development and social awareness. This qualitative study employed observation and in-depth interviews during the pre-survey stage to explore the context and audience engagement within the program. The collected data was then analyzed using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory and the theory of preacher competence from the Usul ad-Da'wah framework by Abdul Karim Zaidan. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of Islamic preaching is significantly influenced not only by the substance of the message but also by the preacher's ability to deliver it in a relatable, contextual, and emotionally engaging manner. Each preacher employed different rhetorical and linguistic strategies to align their message with the needs of contemporary audiences, particularly Generation Z. Themes such as personal piety, social responsibility, gratitude, and the pursuit of true happiness were emphasized and presented in ways that fostered emotional resonance and reflective understanding among the congregation. The study concludes that effective Islamic preaching must be audience-oriented, contextually grounded, and spiritually transformative.

Abstract

Multiculturalism is an increasingly prominent phenomenon in global society, where individuals from various national, cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic backgrounds interact and influence one another. This makes multiculturalism one of the key characteristics of modern society. This study aims to explore the Islamic perspective on the concept of multicultural da’wah and how Islamic values can be applied within this context. The research method used is qualitative with a literature review approach, where data sources are drawn from various references relevant to the study of multiculturalism. The findings indicate that Islam offers principles and values that can serve as a guide in dealing with multiculturalism, such as the concept of Islamic universalism, maqasid al-shariah, love for fellow human beings, and the concept of ukhuwwah (brotherhood). These findings are expected to provide deeper insight into how Islamic teachings can contribute to creating a harmonious and inclusive society amidst diversity.
