Abstract

UD Anugerah Mulia produces aftermarket motorcycle seat foam. The production process is carried out manually by pouring the dough into the mold and allowing it to expand so that it follows the shape of the mold. This PKM activity is focused on the problem of damage to the mold box lock that occurs quite often. If the lock is damaged the mold box cannot be used and must be replaced with another box, so there is a delay in replacing the mold box. The purpose of this PKM is to improve the design of the locking system to make it more reliable and easy to operate. The existing locking system requires the foot of the operator to open and lock the mold cover. The force due to these shocks is often too strong so that the locking components are broken or damaged. The method of implementing this community service activity is carried out through a survey at the PKM target location, namely the UD Anugerah Mulia workshop in Jatiraden Jatisampurna, Bekasi City. From the analysis of the solution search, it was found that the design of the locking system was improved using a pair of pneumatic cylinders. This system does not require an operator to lock and unlock so it is expected to be more durable and reliable.

Abstract

Environmental health is a very important element in relation to the potential for the spread of disease, especially in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is happen when environmental conditions are not feasible. Through good environmental management accompanied by regular and continuous education for the residents of this limited environment, boarding school can become an example of the application of good environmental health management. Through this outreach activity, the Community Service Program of the Environmental Engineering and Landscape Architecture Study Program aims to educate the academic community of SMAN CMBBS in order to increase awareness in meeting proper basic facilities and implementing an integrated environmental health pattern by implementing clean and healthy living behaviors. The method used is a counseling of educational materials and posters through online seminars using video conference. For now, as many as 51.9% of seminar respondents do not have the readiness to restart offline learning process because there is no proper preparation from the school regarding an integrated environmental health management system in preventing the formation of a pandemic cluster. The implications of this PkM activity are very useful in increasing insight and awareness of the CMBBS academic community in facing the offline learning process.

Abstract

In Sukaluyu Village as well as along the Citarum Karawang watershed area there are lots of water hyacinth plants, can absorb pollutants contained in wastewater while reducing the amount of water hyacinth in the waters, is a solution that can be applied in the village. Utilization of water hyacinth as an adsorbent is also one of the appropriate technologies in environmental conservation. Likewise, the arrangement of the Citarum watershed environment will make the living environment more beautiful and comfortable. For this reason, it is important to conduct counseling and training to the community to be able to use water hyacinth leaves as an adsorbent that can be used as a material for purifying wastewater that pollutes the Citarum River. The methods used were socialization and training on the use of adsorbents from water hyacinth leaves and online landscape plant design. The goal is to invite the people of Sukaluyu Village to actively participate in creating a clean and comfortable environment. The results of the implementation of this PKM activity can be concluded that this PKM activity can add insight to the members of the Environmental Friendly Community and the community in Sukaluyu Village, Teluk Jambe Timur District, Karawang Regency regarding the processing of domestic and industrial liquid waste that contains B3, especially regarding the use of water hyacinth leaves as adsorbent and structuring the Citarum watershed environment to create a comfortable and prosperous living environment.

Abstract

An online training activity was carried out regarding the assistance of parents in maintaining the dental and oral health of pre-school age children living in the Serpong area, South Tangerang, Banten. This training was designed considering the high caries rate of Indonesian children over the last 10 years. Given the importance of developing good health behavior from an early age, the intake of non-cariogenic foods and oral hygiene maintenance habits should also be carried out as early as possible. The role of parents is vital in teaching and supervising pre-school age children’s behavior. Therefore, this training was conducted to increase parental participation in supervising children's eating patterns and cleaning the oral cavity. This should be followed by correction of diet and better oral hygiene habits to reduce children’s caries rate. Early assessments show most parents still have a wrong understanding of caries prevention in children, especially in children who still receive breast milk. The final assessment demonstrates an improved understanding in the etiology of oral diseases and parental assistance in dental and oral health maintenance in children.

Abstract

The beginning of 2020 was a tough year for all citizens of the world, because the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which paralyzed all aspects of life. The death toll fell, the order of life changed and the macro and micro economy collapsed. This led to many changes to the governance system. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though they are affected by COVID-19, MSMEs must continue to grow. This Community Service (PkM) aims to provide counseling about improving the performance of MSMEs through marketing strategies. The method of implementing PkM is carried out directly through a zoom meeting. The counseling participants were 23 MSME actors assisted by the Insan Palma Sejahtera Foundation in Palmerah - West Jakarta. The results of this counseling can provide knowledge and abilities to participants, and participants also get solutions to their product/service marketing problems during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The results of the questionnaire on the effectiveness of counseling showed that 80% of participants stated that counseling could increase their knowledge and abilities; 80% of participants stated that they had knowledge about how to improve the performance of MSMEs.

The method used in this activity is in the form of counseling which targets high school students and young people in the community of RT 06/RW 08, Tomang Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta. The counseling was carried out offline using a zoom which presented three main points, namely: (1) the definition of space, (2) the urgency of spatial planning, and (3) the role of spatial planning. In addition, an evaluation was also carried out through a google form to find out the increase in understanding gained from this activity. The result of this Community Service is that the community gains insight into the urgency and role of spatial planning. Implementing lecturers also representing the campus have succeeded in making this activity as a campus communication medium in disseminating knowledge, teaching, and research results directly to the community. This activity was successful which was indicated from the discussions that took place between the participants and the implementing lecturers, as well as the results of the evaluation of the distributed questionnaires. Hopefully, the participants will understand from an earlier age, become more active and enthusiastic in campaigning, setting an example, and even being directly involved in spatial planning.

Abstract

It's been two years since the world faced the Covid-19 pandemic caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) which is able to affect the human immune system. One strategy in overcoming this pandemic is to pay attention to the intake of nutrients that are suitable to support the activation of the immune system in fighting the virus. Since the pandemic, vitamin D has been widely consumed to boost the body's immunity. This compound is able to improve the function of physical barriers, modulate the immune response, both natural and adaptive, to fight infections, allergies, malignancies and autoimmune. Recently it has been widely revealed that vitamin D deficiency was associated with various diseases. The occurrence of vitamin D deficiency in children may be due to a lack of awareness about the importance of vitamin D for children's health and this condition is certainly related to parental knowledge. The purpose of this outreach was to increase parents' knowledge about the role of vitamin D for children's health, especially during the pandemic. This program carried out online at Primary school and Junior high school of Tarsisius 1, Central Jakarta. Parental knowledge about the role of vitamin D was assessed using a modified questionnaires from Hussein et al. 2018, before and after the outreach. Data collection using Google Form, data cleaning with Open Refine software and analysis with SPSS software version 23. The Mann-Whitney test obtained p<0,001 so it was concluded that knowledge of vitamin D between the two groups differed significantly
