Abstract

One of the air emission mitigation efforts is the development of electrostatic precipitator (ESP)-based filtration. On the other hand, this method requires further identification of the effect of flow rate on the resulting efficiency level. Therefore, this study aims to identify the best flow rate in a low-power, small-scale miniature ESP system based on ESP, with the application of IoT technology in real-time and accurate data monitoring. The study was conducted in a closed chamber using an IoT-based flow rate measurement system (anemometer). The flow rate was varied into two categories, namely inlet and outlet. Measurements were made for 100 s consecutively on both air flow paths. Work efficiency was calculated based on the difference between the inlet and outlet flow rates, which was then compared with the inlet flow rate. Data communication efficiency was analyzed using RSSI parameters based on the IoT system using a 4G internet network. The measurement results showed similarity in data between the inlet and outlet flow rates, with an efficiency level of 87%. RSSI in data communication is above -60 dBm with a strong transmission signal category. These results conclude that flow rate can affect air flow efficiency performance. The quality of an IoT network can be analyzed using the RSSI parameter.

Abstract

Cilegon City is one of the cities in Banten Province with an altitude between 0-500 meters above sea level. Cilegon city consists of eight sub-districts namely Pulomerak, Grogol, Purwakarta, Jombang, Citangkil, Cilegon, Ciwandan and Cibeber. Based on the Cilegon city BNBD data, forest and land fire disasters increased in 2023. Forest and land fires are one of the more frequent phenomena. The negative impacts of forest and land fires include ecological damage, decline in the economic value of forests and soil productivity, decline in biodiversity, micro or global climate change and smoke disrupting air, land and sea transportation. To prevent the occurrence of forest and land fires in the Cilegon City area, it is necessary to have a map that can declare forest and land fire prone zones by taking into account rainfall, soil type, and land cover factors. The purpose of this research is to map forest and land fire prone zones as an effort to support the realization of forest fire management strategies in the Cilegon City area by taking into account rainfall, soil type, and land cover factors.

Abstract

The eruption of Mount Samalas is the largest volcanic eruption event in Indonesia that occurred in 1257 AD. The eruption column reached 43 km, and produced pyroclastic material that was widely distributed on Lombok Island. Pyroclastic material from the eruption of Mount Samalas is characterized by the presence of pumice. Mataram City is one of the areas affected by the eruption of Mount Samalas. This study aims to determine the presence and distribution of pumice produced by the eruption of Mount Samalas in Mataram City, especially Ampenan District and Sekarbela District. The methods used in this research are georadar method and resistivity geoelectric method. The results obtained show that pumice is distributed in all research locations and found at varying depths, namely the range of 0 - 9 meters. The pumice found is mixed with other materials such as sand, gravel, silt, tuff, and clay.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Socio-Scientific Issue (SSI) teaching approach on the chemical science literacy skills of students at MA NW Kembang Kerang. The indicators of science literacy skills measured include the ability to explain scientific phenomena, identify scientific problems, and use evidence in a scientific manner. This research utilizes a Quasi-Experiment design with a pre-test and post-test control group design, conducted in class XI at MA NW Kembang Kerang, involving 41 students. The control class (XI MIPA 1) was taught conventionally, while the experimental class (XI MIPA 2) used the Socio-Scientific Issue teaching approach. Data on chemical science literacy were collected using a test instrument administered before and after the teaching process. The data were analyzed using the N-Gain test and used to draw conclusions. The results of the study show that the SSI teaching approach has an effect on students' chemical science literacy, based on the t-test results where thitung > ttabel. The increase in chemical science literacy in the experimental class is categorized as moderate (N-Gain = 0.60), while the control class is in the low category (N-Gain = 0.28). It is expected that these results can assist both teachers and students in chemistry learning that connects school learning with contextual issues in daily life.

Abstract

In general, technology is defined as a branch of science that studies how to make tools and how to process and extract goods to overcome various unique challenges and improve human power in general. This study uses bibliometric analysis, bibliometric analysis techniques are used to examine and cite 27 publications related to the use of technology in physics education published between 2014 and 2024. This study uses bibliometric techniques as a form of qualitative descriptive research. This study uses the Publish or Perish, Mandeley and VosViewer software programs, and Publish or Perish is used in the data search process for this study. The number of publications in the last 10 years in 2014-2024 on technology in physics learning indexed by scholars in 2014 there was 1 publication in 2015 there were no published articles, in 2016 it reached 1 publication, then in 2017 it reached 2 publications, then publications in 2018 there was 1 publication, in 2019 it reached 2 publications, then in 2020 there were no published articles, in 2021-2022 there was only 1 publication and the largest number of article publications was in 2023 which reached 5 publications.

Abstract

Natural zeolite from Manikin (ZAM), Kupang Regency, has been successfully characterized by XRF, FTIR-ATR, powder-XRD and SEM. XRF results show that the three most abudant elements in ZAM are Si (68.1%); Fe (11.9%) and K (9.76%). Meanwhile, there is absorption at wave number 100.45 cm-1 which indicates the presence of asymmetric O-Si-O and O-Al-O. Based on the XRD diffraction pattern of the powder analyzed by the rietvield method, it shows that ZAM consists of SiO2 and mordenite-type zeolite minerals complexed with Na and Ca metals. As for morphology of ZAM, it consists of various shapes and one of them is sharp like a needle.

Abstract

Laboratory-based learning is an important part of science education because it allows students to connect theory with practice directly. Through laboratory activities, students not only develop conceptual understanding, but also motor skills and positive scientific attitudes. However, the implementation of laboratory learning in schools is often constrained by limited facilities, lack of integrated teaching strategies, and suboptimal use of technology. This study aims to identify and analyze various laboratory learning strategies that are effective in improving students' affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. The method used is a literature study of 15 national scientific articles published in the last ten years. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively to evaluate the effectiveness of the various methods applied. The results of the study indicate that the inquiry approach, direct experiments, virtual laboratories, recitations, and collaborative strategies play a significant role in developing students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, motor skills, and positive attitudes. In conclusion, laboratory-based learning strategies that are designed appropriately can improve the quality of science learning holistically and prepare students to face real-world challenges.

Abstract

Laboratory analysis is not optimal because the equipment used is outdated and has not been calibrated routinely, so the test results are less accurate. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause the suboptimal use of science laboratories in Senior High Schools (SMA). Science laboratories have an important role in science learning to improve students' conceptual understanding and practical skills. However, many schools have not utilized this facility optimally. The study used a descriptive approach with a survey method, involving science teachers and laboratory heads as respondents. The results of the analysis showed several main factors, namely the lack of budget for equipment maintenance and procurement, minimal laboratory staff competence, lack of time allocated in the curriculum, and low teacher motivation in designing practical activities. In addition, the limited number of tools and materials for practical work is also a significant obstacle. Recommendations from this study include increasing laboratory staff training, adequate budget allocation, and better integration between laboratory activities and classroom learning. Optimizing science laboratories is expected to support improving the quality of science education. This study recommends increasing the allocation of education budgets, continuous teacher training, and better laboratory management planning to improve the utilization of science laboratories. With these steps, laboratories can function optimally as learning facilities that support the development of students' science skills.

Abstract

Science is one of the subjects that students still fear and dislike. In the sample studied, it shows that the average student learning outcomes are below the KKM. This is caused by the lack of student interest in learning due to the lack of teacher innovation in using learning models and media. This study aims to determine the application of the guided inquiry learning model as an effort to improve learning outcomes in science subjects in grade 9 students of SMP Negeri 2 Rejoso in the 2024/2025 academic year. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The research subjects were class 9-A students totalling 27 people who were taken by random sampling technique. Data collection techniques in the form of learning outcomes test data, observation, and documentation. Learning outcomes using guided inquiry in cycle I averaged 69.25 with the category ‘sufficient’ while cycle II increased with an average of 87.40 with the category ‘very good’. This study was able to reveal that the use of simple practicum media around students is able to change the paradigm that science can be learned from everything around. Practical activities make students able to work together, find problems to find solutions, and be able to build active communication between students and teachers.

Abstract

Teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, whether diagnosed with pulp necrosis or irreversible pulpitis, have lost significant hard tissue structure due to caries. Post-root canal restoration generally involves additional reinforcement inserted into the root canal. This treatment is called post treatment, followed by crown placement. Based on the manufacturing method, posts are divided into two types: custom-made posts and prefabricated posts. Prefabricated posts are the most commonly used because they are made of fiber and offer several advantages. The advantages of prefabricated fiber posts include good aesthetics, resistance to corrosion, a modulus of elasticity nearly equal to dentin, and adhesive bonding to the root canal wall surface. This adhesive bond creates a good bond with the tooth structure and also improves the monoblock properties due to the use of the same material. After the post is placed into the root canal, a crown is placed to perfect the shape of the root canal crown. This case report describes the steps involved in installing a prefabricated post and crown on a tooth after root canal treatment. The first visit involved gutta-pertussis reduction with gates, followed by root canal widening. A trial post was then placed, followed by post cementation and core fabrication. Impressions and temporary crowns were made after the cores were made. The patient was instructed to return once the zirconia crown was finished, and it was inserted immediately. Following treatment, it was concluded that prefabricated posts, followed by zirconia crowns, can be placed after root canal treatment in anterior teeth with significant crown structure loss
