Abstract

This training activity aims to enhance students' knowledge through community service activities in collaboration with farmer groups in Tanah Seribu Village, Pasar 3 Dalam, Environment VII, South Binjai, focusing on corn waste utilization. The research was conducted on July 17, 2024. The resource persons in this study were Mr. Susanto and Mrs. Juliyanti. The approach methods for implementing the activities were interviews, discussions, and training. The corn harvest yield during dry season is approximately 300 kg, while during rainy season it reaches around 700 kg. Farmers only use dried corn to sell to agents. The fertilizers used are urea and poska. Through direct training methods, 80% of participants demonstrated the ability to distinguish between young and dried corn, harvest corn from plants, and separate corn kernels from cobs. This training provides significant benefits in developing knowledge about corn processing into fish feed and flour, while also contributing to community economic independence through the utilization of local agricultural products.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the faith literacy and digital literacy of youth through the utilization of Instagram with the Youth Learning Community (YLC) model. The activities included socialization, mentoring, creative content production, and digital community account management. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-activity questionnaires distributed to 30 youth participants, as well as monitoring during the mentoring process. The results showed that 87% of participants understood the YLC concept, 78% were active in Room Community activities, and 85% were able to use digital media positively by relating it to faith values. In addition, the number of followers increased from 450 to 1,027, indicating public interest in the content produced. These findings demonstrate that the YLC digital platform can strengthen faith, build character, and encourage youth participation in church life. The program recommends developing more diverse content, providing advanced training, and ensuring continuous support from the parish so that the digital community can be managed independently and sustainably.

Abstract

Financial data management at PT. Vibe Akademik Bahasa was previously done manually using Microsoft Excel, which resulted in inefficiency and delays in calculations and reporting. To overcome this problem, this activity designed a management control system using Microsoft Access that automates student data recording, payment transactions, and the issuance of invoices and financial reports. This activity used observation, interviews, and document analysis to identify user needs, followed by system design that included the design of data input forms and payment transactions. The resulting system enables automatic invoice issuance based on student identification numbers, supports payment recording, and provides real-time profit and loss reports that can be accessed by partner institutions. This implementation demonstrates that a database-based management control system can improve accuracy, timeliness, and transparency in financial data management. Further activities are recommended to enhance the system with web-based access, multi-user functionality, and integration with other financial tools to improve operational efficiency and scalability.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) in Nagari Bukik Limbuku focuses on addressing the serious plastic waste problem caused by population density and economic activities. With an estimated 5–13 million tons of plastic polluting the oceans each year, waste management has become an urgent issue, leading to environmental pollution, declining water quality, flood risks, and health problems. UNP students introduced an innovative solution through ecobricks, which transform plastic waste into solid, reusable materials. This initiative was realized in the construction of the “Bukik Limbuku” village name installation made from ecobricks, accompanied by community outreach and environmental education. The program began with an ecobrick demonstration at SD 01 Nagari Bukik Limbuku on June 20, 2025, followed by intensive training sessions until July 17, 2025. The results showed not only increased environmental awareness but also equipped the community with practical skills, highlighting the university’s role in sustainable community empowerment.

Abstract

The reading ability of children in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, remains a very serious problem. Jaranguda Village in Karo Regency is one of the areas facing this challenge due to the lack of facilities, reading habits, and the dominant use of gadgets. This study aims to identify effective strategies to improve literacy and reading interest in children in Jaranguda Village through literacy socialization activities conducted by KKN students. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with observation and documentation techniques of participants and activity implementers. The results showed that the implementation of four main approaches—namely literacy socialization and strengthening, media-based literacy counseling, the application of literacy in public conversations, and the application of literacy in daily activities—had a positive impact on increasing children's interest and reading ability. Children became more enthusiastic about reading, more confident in conveying the content of reading, and began to get used to reading regularly every day. These findings confirm that literacy packaged in an interactive and fun way can create meaningful learning experiences for children. Therefore, activities like this must continue to be developed and implemented sustainably in other villages so that the culture of literacy from an early age can be improved and strengthened.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PEMA) in Tanah Seribu District by the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) aims to develop children's talents and enthusiasm for learning through various competitions during the Gebyar Muharram celebration. This activity includes coloring, adhan, short verse recitation, and ranking competitions, which were participated in by 65 children. Through this program, children are taught to develop skills, increase self-confidence, and foster a sense of unity and mutual cooperation among the community. The results show an increase in the children's skills and enthusiasm, as well as active community participation in supporting the success of this program. The method used in this study was a qualitative method, which uses field observation and describes programs or activities. Natural research methods conducted directly in the field rather than in a laboratory are called qualitative research. This type of approach focuses on natural phenomena or symptoms. Therefore, another name for this research might be field study or naturalistic investigation.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve students’ ability to memorize the Qur’an and Hadith through the application of a service-learning approach using educational game media at MDTA Al-Mujahid, Kebonmanggu Village. The activity was motivated by students’ low memorization consistency due to conventional and less interactive learning methods. Through the service-learning approach, university students acted as facilitators in mentoring sessions that combined interactive lectures, educational games, and reflections on Islamic values. The implementation stages included initial observation, the design of learning media (memorization cards and Islamic puzzles), mentoring activities, and evaluation through reflection and feedback from teachers and students. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ learning motivation, memorization ability, and religious attitudes. Students were more enthusiastic and focused during memorization sessions due to the engaging and participatory learning atmosphere. Teachers also reported that this activity fostered a more active and innovative classroom environment. The service-learning model proved effective in building collaboration between students, teachers, and facilitators while strengthening learners’ spiritual character.

Abstract

The Real Work Lecture Program (KKN) in Dolat Rayat Village is motivated by the problem of the abundance of carrot crops that have not been optimally processed so that it risks reducing its economic value. Through this activity, the KKN team seeks to empower the community by introducing the innovation of Carrot Donut MSMEs as a form of processing value-added agricultural products. The main goal of this program is to improve the entrepreneurial skills of the community, especially housewives and youth, in order to be able to develop local processed food products that are competitive and highly competitive. The implementation method includes observation of village potential, analysis of community needs, deliberation with village officials, preparation of training modules, direct practice of making carrot donuts, as well as training in digital marketing strategies and attractive product packaging. The results of the activities showed high enthusiasm from the participants, improved skills in production and marketing, and the emergence of new business initiatives based on local potential. Overall, this program has succeeded in encouraging community economic independence, strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit of villages, and creating sustainable business opportunities from previously underutilized carrot agricultural products.

Abstract

Pasar Lama in Serang City is one of the traditional MSME centers with competitive local products; however, most business actors still rely on conventional systems without digital marketing strategies. This condition is reflected in low digital literacy, limited use of marketplaces and social media, and the absence of collective branding efforts. This community service program aimed to improve digital literacy, strengthen business management, and expand market access through the digitalization of MSMEs in the Pasar Lama area. The methods applied included program socialization, training on digital financial management, cost of goods sold (COGS) calculation, product branding, digital marketing, e-commerce activation, and participatory-based mentoring. The results demonstrated significant progress: 18 MSMEs have created marketplace accounts, 15 MSMEs are actively using business social media, and 20 MSMEs have implemented simple digital financial recording. In addition, product branding quality improved, and participants were actively involved in forming a digital mentoring group within the market community. In conclusion, this program successfully facilitated the transformation of traditional MSMEs into a digitally oriented business ecosystem, although more intensive mentoring is required to ensure program sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Community Service Program (KKN) in empowering the people of Sialaman Village through a qualitative approach. The research focuses on four main aspects: health, education, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and the environment. Data were collected using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation with villagers, local leaders, and KKN participants. The findings show that in the health aspect, the program successfully increased public awareness of clean living habits and the importance of regular health check-ups. In education, tutoring activities and digital literacy programs for children fostered motivation and expanded basic knowledge. In the MSME sector, mentoring activities for household businesses improved understanding of simple financial management, marketing strategies, and digital technology utilization. Meanwhile, in the environmental aspect, the community actively participated in greening projects, waste management, and cleanliness campaigns. Overall, the implementation of KKN had a positive impact on strengthening community capacity, although challenges remain in terms of limited facilities, funding, and program sustainability after KKN ends. Thus, the KKN program proves to be a strategic instrument in promoting sustainable community empowerment in rural areas.
