Abstract

Science literacy is the ability to use scientific knowledge, identify questions, and draw conclusions based on evidence in order to understand and make decisions regarding natural phenomena. While environmental awareness is a change in thinking, attitudes, and behavior towards the surrounding environment, However, based on the results of observations and observations of phenomena that occur in society, environmental awareness is very low, and the conditions in the world of education lately are very concerning. So the purpose of this study is to develop science learning tools based on ethnoscience to improve science literacy and environmental awareness of students at the junior high school level. This study also involves students and lecturers carrying out activities outside the campus as part of the Main Performance Indicators of Higher Education. And supports SDGs, namely quality education and utilization of the environment and culture. The results of the pretest showed that the average student science literacy was 60, while the average score of environmental awareness was 55. This shows that students' understanding of the concept of science and environmental awareness is still relatively low before the implementation of ethnoscience-based learning. Abstract

Character education has become a strategic priority in hi gher education, particularly in teacher education programs, as prospective teachers are expected to demonstrate not only pedagogical competence but also strong moral character and professional integrity. However, empirical evidence regarding the internalization of character values among prospective elementary school teachers remains limited. This study aimed to describe the level of character value internalization among students of the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi as preparation for becoming elementary school teachers with noble character. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed involving 120 students selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a character value internalization questionnaire consisting of eight dimensions, namely religiousness, honesty, discipline, responsibility, social care, courtesy, independence, and exemplary behavior as prospective teachers. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages and mean scores. The findings revealed that the overall level of character value internalization was categorized as Good, with an average score of 81.78%. Religiousness achieved the highest percentage (85.75%), indicating the successful integration of religious values into students' academic and social lives. Conversely, discipline recorded the lowest percentage (78.20%), suggesting the need for greater emphasis on punctuality, compliance with academic regulations, and responsibility. These findings indicate that the development of character among prospective teachers requires continuous reinforcement through an integrated academic environment, lecturer role modeling, and institutional policies that support character education. This study contributes empirical evidence that may assist higher education institutions in designing sustainable character education programs to prepare competent and morally responsible elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Educational digitalization requires Islamic Religious Education and Character Learning not only to preserve its value-oriented mission but also to utilize interactive media to strengthen students’ participation and understanding. This study aims to analyze the use of interactive learning media in Islamic Religious Education and Character Learning at SMA Islam Al-Azhar NW Kayangan and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. It employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed inductively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that interactive media use involves four stages: teacher preparation, media selection based on learning objectives and material characteristics, conditional media presentation, and follow-up activities through assignments, questions and answers, and reinforcement. The media used remain dominated by audio and visual forms, such as Qur’anic texts, textbooks, student worksheets, projection devices, and presentation materials, while the use of digital interactive applications is not yet evenly implemented. Interactive media contribute to students’ attention, enthusiasm, and participation, especially when integrated with lectures, discussions, question-and-answer activities, recitation assignments, and peer tutoring. However, implementation is constrained by unequal infrastructure, limited instructional time, uneven teacher digital competence, and varied student access to devices. This study proposes the concept of Islamic value-based digital pedagogy, namely the use of interactive media that goes beyond technological attractiveness and is directed toward value internalization, character formation, and religious digital literacy
