Abstract

The development of community-based creative enterprises has become an effective strategy to enhance rural economic independence. However, the skills of the women’s community group (PKK) in Ciwaruga Village, West Bandung Regency—such as sewing, make-up artistry, cooking, and decoration—have not been fully utilized in an organized business. This issue highlights the need for an innovative creative business in the form of a Wedding Organizer (WO) that integrates local skills with Sundanese cultural wisdom. The method applied in this program was a participatory empowerment approach. The stages included identifying human resource potentials and local wisdom, mapping infrastructure and collaboration opportunities with local MSMEs, conducting training on WO management and digital marketing, and designing a collaborative business model. The results indicate that PKK members are able to contribute significantly to WO services such as bridal make-up, decoration, catering, and the production of local souvenirs. Furthermore, social networking and the use of digital media proved effective in enhancing promotion, while synergy with local MSMEs strengthened business sustainability and created more comprehensive wedding service packages with cultural value. In conclusion, the development of a women-empowered WO in Ciwaruga Village not only generates new economic opportunities but also reinforces local cultural identity and supports family independence. This model has the potential to be replicated in other villages as a strategy for community-based creative economic development.

Abstract

Writing ability is an essential academic skill in higher education because it serves as a means to communicate ideas, construct logical arguments, and produce credible and accountable scholarly works. The national standards for scientific writing are a set of formal guidelines that regulate the structure, language rules, writing format, academic ethics, as well as citation and referencing procedures to ensure academic quality, scientific integrity, and consistency in every scholarly work produced. Mendeley is one of the reference management applications used to organize bibliographies, store scientific articles, generate automatic citations, and assist researchers in formatting references according to the required style. The enhancement of writing skills through the use of Mendeley is based on the needs of students in completing their final assignments at the university. This activity is implemented through four stages: planning, implementation, evaluation, and program sustainability. During the implementation stage, the program includes workshops on utilizing the Mendeley application, training in searching for scientific references, and hands-on practice using the application. The success of the program is evaluated by assessing students’ responses to the use of Mendeley through questionnaires and analyzing their feedback regarding the program activities. The results indicate that students have a positive perception of using Mendeley, with an average score of 90.8%, while their response to the implementation of the program reaches 85.7%.

Abstract

Based on data from the East Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS), coconut production in East Java province in 2022 was recorded at 231,934 tonnes. This data shows that East Java is one of the coconut production centres in Indonesia, which reached a national production of 2.87 million tonnes in the same year. However, the obstacles often faced by MSMEs are the limitations of the equipment and technology used in printing, drying and marketing briquettes. Most of the equipment and technology available today is still manual and unable to optimally meet production needs. One such MSME is Briket ‘Batu Bara’, located in Babadan Hamlet, Ngebrak Village, Gampengrejo Sub-district, Kediri Regency. With the available TTG briquette moulding machines and drying ovens, it is hoped that the production process can be accelerated and production output increased. The method used is the provision of tools/machines as well as assistance in the use of machines and digital marketing training for partners. The tangible results of this community service activity include an increase in productivity. Previously, manual production involved two stages, with the printing process followed by oven drying, taking 120 minutes per kilogram and yielding 40 kilograms of product per day. Now, the process takes 10 minutes less per kilogram, while product yield has increased to 40 kilograms per day. The predicted average profit increase is approximately 39.21%, while the average increase in rupiah is 1.034 million rupiah. Thus, the data for July 2025 and September 2025 shows a significant increase of 46.87%. This increase is attributed to the optimal utilisation of the machine developed through the PKM project, coupled with enhanced marketing efforts using digital marketing platforms such as ‘Shopee’.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Sambelia Village, East Lombok Regency, an area characterized by dryland agriculture and high dependency on rainfall. The main problems faced by farmers are limited water resources, low crop diversification, and declining youth interest in the agricultural sector. The program aimed to enhance farmers’ capacity and productivity through the implementation of water-efficient irrigation technology and watermelon cultivation after corn harvest. The activities were carried out in five stages: socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. Training sessions adopted a learning by doing approach covering dryland watermelon cultivation, drip irrigation systems, organic fertilizer management, and digital marketing. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, with post-test scores increasing by an average of 47.3% compared to pre-test. In terms of productivity, farmers who previously cultivated corn only once a year were able to add a second cropping cycle with watermelon, resulting in a 166–200% increase in income. This activity demonstrates that the implementation of community-based irrigation technology effectively improves land-use efficiency, farmer independence, and agricultural sustainability in dryland areas.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Kandangmas Village, Kudus Regency, with the aim of increasing the community's capacity to develop the potential of the Logung Dam's artificial tourism. The main problems facing this village include limited innovation, weak financial management of BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises), and a lack of digital promotion strategies. To address these challenges, the activities were designed through three forms of training: growth mindset, financial management, and digital branding. The implementation method used a participatory approach through workshops, guided group discussions, and hands-on practice. The results of the activities showed that growth mindset training was able to encourage the community to be more innovative in identifying and developing tourism potential; financial management training improved BUMDes' ability to record and prepare financial reports transparently and accountably; and digital branding training equipped Karang Taruna with skills in promoting tourism through social media. Overall, this activity strengthens the synergy between Pokdarwis, Karang Taruna, and BUMDes as the three pillars of tourism management, while also building the foundation for developing Kandangmas Village as an innovative, professional, and sustainable tourism village.

Abstract

Kandangmas Village, located in Dawe District, Kudus Regency, has tourism potential that positively impacts community activities. One of the tourism potentials is the artificial tourism at Logung Dam, but Logung Dam tourism has many obstacles, one of which is the lack of visitors. Therefore, intervention is needed for the community using the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) and PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) methods. This development activity was carried out by the PPK Ormawa Team of the BEM Faculty of Psychology, Muria Kudus University, for the 2024 period, consisting of thirteen members, four volunteers, and one supervising lecturer. The target groups for this development activity are POKDARWIS (Tourism Awareness Groups), BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises), and Karang Taruna (Youth Organization). Based on the implementation of the development, the FGD and PRA methods are very effective for developing tourism potential, as they can involve and reactivate less active target groups and produce the output of a tourism potential map in Kandangmas Village, which is categorized into several tourism potentials: religious tourism, natural tourism, Logung Dam tourism, art and cultural tourism, culinary tourism, handicraft tourism, and integrated tourism with existing tourist attractions around Kandangmas Village.

Abstract

Food waste has become a critical global issue with significant environmental, social, and economic consequences. This community service program focused on empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at Pujasera JS09 in Jakarta to manage organic waste through composting. The program identified that the canteen produced an average of 150–200 kg of food waste daily, of which 10–30 kg consisted of vegetable residues, fruit peels, and other organic materials suitable for composting. Using a roller composter, the decomposition process successfully transformed waste into mature planting media within approximately 16 days. Compost maturity was confirmed through pH stabilization at 7, neutral odor, and positive immersion tests. Furthermore, carbon footprint analysis using the EPA WARM model revealed that diverting 20 kg/day of organic waste from landfills to composting reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 3.06 tons CO₂e annually, equivalent to an 8% reduction. These results highlight that composting not only improves local hygiene and reduces methane emissions but also supports sustainable waste management practices and climate change mitigation. The program demonstrates a practical and replicable approach for MSMEs to contribute to circular economy implementation and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This community empowerment programme aims to enhance the production efficiency, material quality, and market competitiveness of micro-enterprises producing concrete blocks and paving units in Saba Village, Blahbatuh, Gianyar. The initiative was led by Ni Komang Indra Mahayani and supported by an academic team comprising an Architecture lecturer, a Computer Engineering lecturer, and three students from Universitas Warmadewa. The methodological framework involved site observation, spatial diagnostics, needs assessment, architectural reconfiguration of the production layout, integration of sustainable design principles, and digital capacity-building for marketing. The intervention focused on reorganising production zones into a more linear and coherent spatial sequence—encompassing moulding, curing, storage, and packaging—to minimise unnecessary circulation and improve workflow continuity. Sustainable strategies were incorporated through the provision of a waste-processing area enabling material recirculation, enhanced natural ventilation, and the introduction of green pockets to promote environmental comfort. Material performance was evaluated through a compressive strength test to ensure the paving products comply with technical standards required for governmental and private-sector projects. Improvements to occupational safety included dedicated rest facilities, sanitary amenities, clear evacuation routes, and acoustic treatment within high-noise production areas. Additionally, training in e-catalogue development and digital marketing was delivered to expand market reach and support participation in electronic procurement systems. The outcomes demonstrate significant improvements in production efficiency, product reliability, and operational readiness, highlighting the role of architectural intervention and academic collaboration in strengthening the long-term sustainability and resilience of local micro-enterprises.
