Abstract

This community service project aimed to reconstruct students’ perceptions of higher education as a form of future investment rather than a financial burden. The activity was carried out at MA Plus Nurul Ummah Bogor and involved 60 students of Grade XII as participants. It was initiated in response to the school’s request to motivate students and broaden their understanding of the importance of pursuing higher education. Using a participatory socialization method with a motivational approach, the program was conducted through presentations, group discussions, and sharing sessions with university students and practitioners. The material covered topics such as higher education as long-term investment, 21st-century skills, scholarship opportunities, and diverse career paths. Evaluation results showed a significant change in students’ perceptions—78% of participants expressed a more positive view of college after the activity. Students became more aware that higher education contributes not only to personal growth but also to social and economic advancement. The program proved effective in enhancing students’ motivation and awareness, and it offered a sustainable model for educational guidance. It is expected that this initiative will encourage more students to pursue higher education as a valuable investment for their future.

Abstract

Jejawan (Sasak) script, also known as hanacaraka, is a traditional writing system of the Sasak tribe in Lombok, which is derived from Javanese (Kawi) script. This script is related to Javanese and Balinese scripts, which were originally written on palm leaves. The purpose of this community service is to preserve and maintain the Sasak regional culture in the form of a script that is becoming less and less known to the community itself. This research is necessary to introduce and preserve the regional culture of Sasak, Lombok, to the younger generation. This community service involved 32 students from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program in their second semester. This activity was carried out for one day, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WITA. The initial activity involved introducing the Sasak script to the participants, followed by writing practice, and finally a reflection on the day's activities. Through this training, it is hoped that students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program can contribute to the preservation of the Sasak script and when they enter the workforce.

Abstract

The Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) At-Taqwa Cirebon City is an institution responsible for managing zakat, infak, and sadaqah (ZIS) funds, including their collection, management, and distribution to beneficiaries. However, the institution faces challenges related to limited understanding and inadequate human resource (HR) skills in accounting data management. As a result, financial reports are still prepared manually, making the process inefficient, ineffective, and often delayed. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to provide training and assistance to UPZ At-Taqwa in preparing financial statements in accordance with the Financial Accounting Standards (PSAK) 109 on Accounting for Zakat, Infak, and Sadaqah. The implementation methods include socialization, lectures, interviews, and hands-on training sessions. The mentoring program focuses on utilizing a Microsoft Excel for Accounting System, a customized Excel-based system designed to facilitate transaction recording and financial report preparation quickly, neatly, and accurately. The training also covers the use of specific Excel formulas developed to support accounting processes for zakat institutions. The results of this program show a significant improvement in the UPZ At-Taqwa staff’s ability to prepare and manage financial reports using the Excel for Accounting system. Additionally, the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of financial reporting with PSAK 109 standards have notably increased.

Abstract

The Merah Putih Cooperative (KMP) program is a government initiative aimed at achieving national economic equality in accordance with the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. However, in its implementation in the field, this program still faces various obstacles, mainly due to the accelerated establishment of institutions and limited human resource capacity. Many cooperative administrators and supervisors do not yet have an adequate understanding of the principles of cooperative law and the responsibilities attached to their positions as stipulated in the law. To overcome this problem, legal counseling activities are carried out using the participatory legal education approach based on the AKOSA (Alami–Kemukakan–Olah–Simpulkan–Aplikasikan) model. Through these five stages, participants were invited to identify actual legal issues in cooperatives, discuss their field experiences, analyze them based on legal provisions, draw conclusions together, and apply them through the practice of drafting Bylaws (ART) and simulating minutes of the Annual Member Meeting (RAT). The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' legal knowledge and skills, with the effectiveness of participatory learning reaching a level of practical significance (p < 0.05). A total of 92% of participants stated that this activity was relevant to the needs of cooperatives, and 87% wanted ongoing legal assistance. Qualitatively, this activity also showed a shift in legal culture from compliance-based to participatory-based governance, in which administrators and supervisors not only comply with the rules but also internalize legal values as institutional ethical guidelines.

Abstract

The fishing industry in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan Province, has great potential for development. However, farmers face problems related to feed availability and prices, as well as limitations in digital marketing. This community service program aims to provide skills to the “Berkat Bersama” Business Group through training in independent fish feed production using local materials with automatic machines and digital marketing training. The activities were carried out in a participatory manner, including preparation and coordination, procurement of materials, assembly of feed printing equipment, module development, dissemination of information on the importance of quality feed and the use of local materials, and training on marketing strategies using digital media. Monitoring and evaluation were conducted through pre-tests, post-tests, and participant testimonials. The pre-test results showed that the majority of participants were in the “Poor Understanding” (75%) and “No Understanding” (12.5%) categories. After the training, there were no more participants in these two categories, while 12.5% of participants reached the “Fair Understanding” category, 25% “Understanding,” and 25% “Very Understanding.” Participant testimonials reinforce that this program is useful as a means to increase independence in feed supply, expand the marketing network for fishery products, and strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of freshwater fish farming businesses in Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) is closely related to family nutritional intake, which is strongly influenced by economic conditions. Pasirawi Village, Banjar District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province, is one of the villages experiencing stunting problems, with four toddlers identified as stunted. One of the contributing factors is limited family income. Therefore, community empowerment is required to address existing stunting cases and prevent further increases. Pasirawi Village has abundant natural resources that support community-based agriculture. One of its main commodities is cassava (manioc), a high-quality crop that is sold at a relatively low price of Rp 2,000–3,000 per kilogram. This price is insufficient to serve as a stable primary income for families. To increase its economic value, the development of a creative economy based on local wisdom is necessary. Many community members, especially women, have initiated home industries producing Opak Singkong, a traditional cassava-based cracker enjoyed by all age groups. Currently, production is carried out manually, starting from pounding boiled cassava, adding spices, molding, drying, and marketing the product as raw opak. Situation analysis identified challenges in production efficiency and marketing, particularly in product packaging. This community service program provides stimulants in the form of production equipment and training on creative economic development, including improved packaging techniques. The expected outcomes include increased production capacity, wider market reach, improved family income, and better fulfillment of family nutritional needs, ultimately supporting improved maternal and child health. This initiative strengthens resilience through collaboration, sustainability, education, innovation, inclusivity, and long-term impact.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve awareness, knowledge, and practices of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) within the Ash-Samadi NWDI Islamic Boarding School Foundation through a science-based approach. The program was motivated by the low level of hygiene behavior among students (santri) due to limited facilities and a lack of scientific understanding of the importance of cleanliness. The implementation method used an action-oriented community intervention model consisting of preparation, education, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation stages. Education was carried out through interactive training, simple scientific demonstrations, and hands-on practices such as the construction of handwashing stations, waste sorting bins, and organic composters. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The results showed a significant improvement in students’ awareness and behavior regarding personal and environmental hygiene. The students gained scientific understanding of the relationship between cleanliness and health, and an environmentally conscious student group was formed to ensure program sustainability. Thus, this activity demonstrates that a science-based approach in PHBS education is effective in shaping healthy living behaviors and can serve as a model for similar implementations in other Islamic educational institutions.
