Journal of Education for Sustainability and Diversity (JESD) (e-ISSN: 2963-8895) is an academic peer-reviewed journal published by Angstrom Centre of Education Foundation (Yayasan Pusat Pendidikan Angstrom). JESD publishes research papers to support the realization of the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education) to ensure inclusive and equal education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the impact of the successful influence of the principal's leadership on teacher performance which is important for the implementation of an independent curriculum at Tual City State Elementary School, Maluku. This research uses descriptive-correlational quantitative research. The data collection used in this research was a questionnaire. Data analysis in this research used Excel, SPSS and SmartPLS SEM 4.0 techniques. The results of the research show that: (1) the level of success of Principal Leadership in Public Elementary Schools in Tual City, Maluku is in the good category, (2) the level of Teacher Performance in Public Elementary Schools Tual City, Maluku is in the good category, (3) the level of success in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in State Elementary Schools in Tual City, Maluku, is in the good category, (4) the success of the school principal's leadership has a positive and significant influence on Teacher Performance at State Elementary Schools in Tual City, Maluku, with a correlation coefficient of 0.749 (5) The success of the Principal's Leadership has had a positive and significant influence on the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum at State Elementary Schools in Tual City, Maluku, with a correlation coefficient of 0.771 , (6) Success the Principal's leadership has a positive and significant influence on implementation of the independent curriculum through teacher performance at the Tual City Public Elementary School, Maluku, with correlation coefficient of 0.136.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive Open Educational Resources (OER) management system to enhance educational resource accessibility across institutions. Leveraging Creative Commons licensing, the system addresses key challenges such as metadata completeness, copyright, and licensing issues. By focusing on policy clarity, privacy, and trust, the proposed system ensures efficient management and interoperability of OER. A needs assessment survey revealed a strong interest among students in cross-institutional learning resources, with respondents expressing satisfaction with existing resources and a desire for additional content. The system's editorial workflow and comprehensive metadata management optimize content visibility and usability, fostering a collaborative educational environment. The developed platform, a Progressive Web App, facilitates easy access, contribution, verification, and publication of educational content, ultimately enhancing the accessibility and quality of educational resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is empowering education with analyze pre-service training to realize and improve teachers apprentice professionalism in the 21st century. Research method used is quantitative with IBM SPSS Statistics 22 software. Respondents were taken from students who were active at Faculty of Computer Science, Brawijaya University. Total number of respondents reached 160 apprentice teachers. Steps include research process, research problem, literature review, research questions, research design, quantitative design with surveys, sampling, instruments, data analysis, interpretation, conclusions, and future research. Results include: (a) 26% usability of features integrated with training topics; (b) 24% convenience of interacting with the user interface in training; (c) 25% accuracy in selecting training materials according to needs; and (d) 25% interesting of interactive multimedia-based training interactions. Improvement in the quality of apprentice teachers can be seen from their professional performance by conducting regular training efforts that are tailored to current needs of 21st century educators.

Abstract

Metaphor is a form of stylistic or conveying meaning in which a concept or idea is expressed by comparing it with other concepts or ideas that are different. Metaphors implicitly compare two unrelated things to convey a deeper understanding or concept. Specifically, this article presents a discussion of the elements of phenomenological and structural paradigms in Javanese plant metaphor by adopting paradigm theory in cultural sciences. This article reveals that Javanese plant metaphor has a basic principle in how it functions and how meaning is expressed. The main principles of Javanese plant metaphor involve the understanding of the concept of comparison and the use of figurative language aspects. This article specifically discusses the elements of the phenomenological and structuralism paradigm in Javanese plant metaphor. Metaphors explain, enliven, facilitate, and change way of understanding reality. Metaphors vary by context, culture, and communication. Metaphors enhance language clarity and expression.

Abstract

Competition law is a combination of two opposing ideologies: ethatism, which promotes state ownership and control over private enterprise, and Free Fight liberalism, which supports unrestricted free competition. As a highly dynamic period develops, laws must be able to address these issues, particularly the conditions of the Indonesian state, by implementing economic theories that serve as the foundation for social life-sustaining politics and laws. For the purpose to stop the cartel phenomena, we utilize applicable rules known as Undang-undang No. 5 Tahun 1999 tentang Larangan Praktek Kartel monopoli dan persaingan usaha tidak sehat (Regulation No. 5/1999 on Prohibition of Cartel Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition) and normative juridical on the creation of competition legislation in this research. We next examine the prospects and difficulties associated with the cartel phenomena in Indonesia using a new paradigm. As a result, our goal is to adding articles to the competition law regulations on the cartel issue.

Abstract

The linguistic landscape of coffee shop signboards in Yogyakarta, Indonesia reflects the city's multicultural and multilingual character. This study examines the forms, meanings, and origins of coffee shop names in Yogyakarta by presenting photographic examples from four districts and cities. Coffee shops can be classified as monolingual, multilingual, or bilingual. Various languages are employed, including Indonesian, Javanese, and English. The meanings of names can be linked to regional origins, local landmarks, wordplay, and cultural references. The origins of the names are often tied to the history and culture of Yogyakarta, such as local legends, arts, and traditions. The prevalence of Indonesian and English alongside local languages suggests a multilingual environment influenced by cultural, commercial, and regulatory factors. The strategic placement of linguistic elements in signage, menu descriptions, and promotional materials attracts and caters to a sophisticated customer base. The linguistic choices made by coffee shop owners and managers can be viewed as deliberate efforts to cultivate a particular atmosphere and ambiance. This study provides insights into the diverse naming practices of coffee shops in Yogyakarta, offering a reference for further research on the city's coffee culture and its linguistic landscape.

Abstract

Stories from Madura written by Zawawi Imron are known as the story that contains philosophical values. The stories could be said to be works full of wisdom and close to Madurese culture, especially those from Madura Island. Soto Sufi dari Madura dan Sate Rohani dari Madura are written with the background of the daily life of Madurese people. The intrinsic elements of the story, such as plot, setting, character and characterization, and theme, will be the story's strengths. The other vulnerable ideas are kept on the surface, and the story's deep structure already becomes a myth about Madurese culture. Stories that already transferred from one to another over the years will have a significant opportunity to deliver value from their stories, too. Applying the qualitative method, the research with the theory of structuralism by Levi-Strauss will answer the question about the structure of the story and the way of thinking of Madurese people. Some stories from 2 novels will drive the research into the people's hopes, expectations, and dreams at Madura, East Java. In their simple lives, society must work hard and strive hard to reach what they want and dream while they still maintain their culture where they feel very proud to be Madurese.

Abstract

The New Order era was the golden age of children's literary production in Indonesia, both in the form of books or magazines. The 1973 Presidential Instruction Book Project (Inpres) was one of the government programs that made the terms of quantity it has skyrocketed. In addition, the trend of magazine publishing as a result of press industrialization also confirmed this claim. The question that then arises is: what are the characteristics of the children's literary mode of production and how is the structure of interaction and articulation with other constituents? The basic premise of the hypothesis in this research is that children's literature is not a genre that is innocent and emerges organically. By using qualitative descriptive method and applying Eagletonian materialistic critical theory, researchers found that there are two children's literary modes of production; (1) the mode under the state patronage which is the dominant ones, and (2) the subordinate mode of production in the private sector. The interaction between both that historically coexisted was synchronic and negotiative. Both articulate the ideology of New Order developmentalism which is identical to poverty alleviation through “hard work” using the aesthetics of realist texts. In the subordinate mode of production, hidden social criticism is found where the state is not present in the efforts to eradicate poverty represented by the characters in the text. The New Order's control mechanism in determining children's literary mode of production was through Issuance Permit (SIT).

Abstract

This study aims to develop an assessment instrument for Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) to evaluate the teaching competence of students in the Arts and Culture Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) at Universitas Negeri Malang. PCK, combining content knowledge and pedagogy, is essential for effective teaching. The research follows a research and development (R&D) method, including needs analysis, design, development, validation, and testing. Data collection involved questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations. Experts validated the instrument for accuracy and relevance, while trials with PPG students tested its reliability and validity. The results show high validity and reliability, with the instrument assessing learning planning, implementation, and evaluation. It helps measure students' competence and serves as a self-reflection tool to improve teaching quality. The instrument contributes to enhancing teacher education, particularly in arts and culture, and supports efforts to increase teacher professionalism in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study is aimed at exploring the mistreatment, violence and oppressions experienced by the Japanese American Issei women during from the beginning of their migration to the United States and how they adapt to live in the new neighborhood in a new country. This study especially investigates on the first generation of Japanese American women who crossed through the Trans-Atlantic Ocean for marrying the Japanese American men whom they never met before and known from picture sent from the US. Having their status changed as wives once they reached the American land, they have got unjust treatment from not only the men they would married but also from their new environment. In this research, the researcher analyzes the data through collecting from the work by employing the intersectional feminist theory. This study’s goal is to find how they settle their life in the new culture and how the migration influenced their life. This research analyzes the book The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka. The researcher chose this work because it contained the theme that have the concerns on what happened to the Japanese first women migrants and how they then settle and continue to live there with the identity of the Issei Japanese American women.
