Abstract

Introduction: The chemical substance of durian peel (Durio zibethinus L.) is a polysaccharide polymer of D-galacturonic acid which is polar and anti-microbial. Chitosan is a derivative of chitin from the peels of Crustaceae animals, which is polycationic and antimicrobial; biodegradable, and biocompatible wit animal tissues. Diabetic ulcers are chronic wounds due to neurological disorders and vascular disorder in the legs, causing tissue damage. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effectiveness of galeni preparations of durian peel extract and chitosan for the treatment of diabetic ulcers.Method: This research is experimental including testing the quality of 5% durian peel extract cream preparations; 2% chitosan, a mixture of both ratio = 1:1; 1:2 physically, chemically, and microbiologically, and the rate of wound healing in test animals. Statistical data analysis of One Way Anova parametric test. Results: The results showed that the preparation of galenic durian peel extract cream and chitosan and their combination ratio (1:1), (1:2) could be formulated and met the quality test of cream preparations physically, chemically, and microbiologically according to the requirements of BPOM No. 32 of 2019 and is effective for healing diabetic ulcers on the 8th day. Conclusions: The preparation of galenic durian peel extract cream and chitosan and their combination ratio (1:1), (1:2) can potentially be developed as a cream preparation for healing diabetic ulcers.

Abstract

Introduction : Anxiety and stress are common among chronic disease patients, especially those who are in the Chronic Disease Care Program / Prolanis, namely, type-2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Psychoeducational therapy can reduce the level of anxiety and stress in Prolanis patients. This research aims to identify the influence of psychoeducation therapy to the anxiety and stress level in Prolanis patients at Manisrenggo I Health Center.Method : This research used a pre-experiment method with one group pre-test post-test design approach. The respondents of this research were 30 Prolanis patients taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by means of ‘depression anxiety and stress scale’ (DASS) instruments which consists of 42 items. The data collected were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test.Result : The research results showed that there was an influence from psychoeducation to the reduction of anxiety and stress in Prolanis patients at Manisrenggo I Health Center. Wilcoxon signed-rank analysis showed a significant level p = 0.05, where p-value = 0.000, therefore p < 0.05. Conclution : (1) Most of the respondents experienced anxiety and stress at a medium level during pre-test; (2) Most of the respondents experienced anxiety and stress at a low level during post-test; (3) There was an influence of psychoeducation therapy to the anxiety and stress level in Prolanis patients at Manisrenggo I Health Center.

Abstract

Pandemics have historically disproportionately impacted the poor and disadvantaged. Poverty, the external environment, and race or ethnicity can all significantly impact COVID-19 consequences. Those barriers, called social determinants of health (SDOH), are significant for many people's health. This study aimed to investigate the social determinants of COVID-19 risk among children in Jakarta, Indonesia. We recruited parents whose children were between 6 and 12 and were admitted to a general public hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. Logistic regression was used to examine the relationship between socioeconomic status and COVID-19 risk. This analysis includes 200 parents of children aged 6 to 12 years old (60%) retrospectively recruited. About half of the parents had undertaken primary education level. No significant correlation was found between parent education level, occupation, and monthly income with COVID-19 risk among children. The number of house occupants more than two was positively associated with a higher risk of COVID-19 in children. In conclusion, poor housing conditions increase the probability of COVID-19 infection in Indonesian children. This implies that parental reinforcement of anti-household transmission strategies is necessary.

Abstract

Introduction: Community health centers known in Indonesia as Primary Health Care (PHC) serve as the primary care facilities in the country. It is the main engine for the success of providing care at the first line for the community. Accreditation is among efforts to enforce a comprehensive management function in primary care. The achievement of accreditation reflects the management cycle of the PHC; however, a number of these facilities are still struggling with achieving maximum accreditation standards. Limited attention and research support that identify PHC management function called for further investigation. Therefore, this study initiated to investigate and evaluate the primary care management cycle and its functionality through the lens of qualitative research.Method: We conducted 15 in-depth interviews and one focus group discussion (FGD) which was attended by eight participants. The setting was in five PHC in Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh province, Indonesia. The involved participants were individuals who had a direct role in the accreditation process.  The data was analyzed by using thematic analysis techniques.Result: There were three main themes and several subthemes derived from the analysis: (1) Work plan: integrative plan development, slow execution; (2) Leaders’ roles: Role’s awareness, work commitment. The results of this study evaluated the implementation of quality management in PHC. To some extent, there were potential obstacles for PHC hindering them from achieving optimal accreditation. Conclusion: These could create pathways for policy development or as a reference for related authorities/policymakers in developing a framework plan to assist the PHC in the implementation of the management cycle leading to plenary national acknowledgment.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a condition of chronic malnutrition due to inadequate nutritional intake and is still a major health problem in Indonesia. Reducing the stunting rate can be done by reducing one of the risk factors of stunting, namely inadequate nutrition, which is influenced by the feeding practice in children under five years. This study aims to examine the relationship between complementary feeding practices on the incidence of stunting in Pendem Village, Batu City.Method: A case-control study was conducted and involved 30 children under five with stunting in the village of Pendem Batu City as a case group and 30 children with non-stunting conditions as a control. The instrument used in this study was a complementary feeding practice questionnaire. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed using an independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test.Result: The practice of giving complementary food has a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting in the village of Pendem, Batu City (p=0.015; <0,05), especially in the sub-category of complementary feeding safety (p=0.014) and the responsive complementary feeding (p=0.007). In the sub-category, the accuracy of complementary foods (p=0.176) and the adequacy of complementary foods (p=0.83) were not significantly related to the incidence of stunting in the village of Pendem Koa Batu. Conclusions: The practice of giving MPASI has a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting, especially in the sub-category of safety and responsive giving of MPASI.

Abstract

Introduction: According to a survey conducted by the Indonesian Gerontology Doctor Association in 2022, 37.8% of the elderly population in Indonesia have a history of hypertension. In addition to medication therapy, hypertension can be controlled through non-pharmacological therapy, including to soak the feet in warm water. The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of soaking the feet in warm water to reduce blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients in Jatikalang, Prambon District.Method: This pre-experimental study uses a one-group of pre-test post-test strategy. The population for this study consists of 46 elderly hypertensive patients. The technique of sampling is purposive, resulting in a sample size of 42 elderly patients. The instruments used are a questionnaire and an observation sheet. Data analysis was by the Wilcoxon test. Results: The systolic blood pressure before soaking the feet in warm water was 140.98 mmHg, and the diastolicof  blood pressure was 83.29 mmHg. The results of the analytical test yielded 0.000 (a p-value) for systolic blood pressure, and 0.000 for blood pressure of diastolic. Conclusions: Soaking the feet in warm water has an effect on reducing blood pressure of elderly hypertensive patients. It is hoped that this therapy can be used as an additional treatment for hypertension patients, allowing the community to perform it at home for 15 minutes daily, to lower blood pressure at a low cost. Keywords: Soaking Feet in Warm Water, Blood Pressure, Elderly
