Abstract

Islamic education is undergoing significant transformation due to the increasing adoption of contemporary educational trends, including digital learning, competency-based education, and interdisciplinary curriculum reform. However, balancing these modern educational advancements with the preservation of Islamic pedagogical values remains a challenge. This study employs a semi-systematic literature review to analyze the impact of contemporary trends on Islamic education, highlighting key challenges and strategic opportunities. The research synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed journal articles and academic databases, focusing on three core areas: (1) technology integration in Islamic education, (2) curriculum reform and pedagogical innovations, and (3) institutional policies and educator development. The findings reveal that while digital learning enhances accessibility and engagement, infrastructure limitations, digital literacy gaps, and concerns over content authenticity persist. Additionally, resistance to interdisciplinary curriculum reform poses challenges to achieving a balanced educational approach. Institutional policies and educator training programs play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by promoting competency-based learning, professional development for teachers, and digital infrastructure expansion. The novelty of this study lies in its comparative analysis of policy interventions and technological advancements in Islamic education across different regional contexts. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education modernization by offering a framework for sustainable reforms that respect Islamic values. Future research should explore longitudinal assessments of digital learning outcomes, empirical studies on policy implementation, and the role of artificial intelligence in Islamic pedagogy.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of interactive digital platforms in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in primary schools and their impact on improving students ' religious literacy. This study used a qualitative approach, where data were collected through in-depth interview techniques, direct observation, and collection of relevant documents. Based on the results of the study, the use of interactive digital platforms plays an important role in encouraging increased motivation and involvement of students during the learning process. The effectiveness of the use of this technology can be seen from the increase in the average academic score of students, which was originally at 70 and increased to 85 after digital innovation was applied in learning activities. Students demonstrate better social and collaborative skills, as well as being able to understand and apply religious teachings in the context of everyday life. The positive response from teachers and parents to the implementation of digital platforms also reflects the need for collaboration between educators and parents in creating an optimal learning environment. This study concludes that the use of technology in PAI education not only improves learning outcomes, but also strengthens the character of students based on religious values. Recommendations were given to improve teacher training and investment in technological infrastructure to facilitate more effective implementation in the future.

Abstract

Currently, Muslims are facing various invasions of foreign thoughts that can damage the minds of the people, such as the entry of foreign thoughts from the West, including secularism. This paper seeks to discuss the secularization of education in Indonesia. One of the processes of entering Western thought in the realm of education is through secularization. Secularization has taken place on several teaching materials in schools in Indonesia. Like a history lesson that teaches that human ancestors were from the monkey nation which has evolved millions of years ago, so that religious values that can actually shape morals or in Islam are known as morals, will not be achieved. In fact, many students who are still in school are trapped in free sex, promiscuity and drugs. Of course, this is very dangerous for the younger generation of this nation. When compared, the Western view with the Islamic view of life has far differences. Islam is based on revelation, hadith, reason, experience and intuition, and has a non-dichotomous or tawhidi approach. While the West does not have it, it cannot be equated, so this paper seeks to discuss the secularization of education in Indonesia

Abstract

The Quran of Islam, contains verses that address environmental concerns and well-being. Some verses, underscore the significance of environmental awareness and the necessity of preserving the natural world for the benefit of all living beings. The science and religion education program facilitates special emphasis on issues related to water resources. The objective of this study was to suggest water resources in environmental education and programs in Indonesian schools, with a view to cultivating environmental awareness. This result demonstrated that any interpretation (tafsir) of Al Furqan both verse 48 and 49 exhibited keywords pertaining to rainwater, cleansing, and human awareness. The syllabus and objectives of each course at the three universities offering programs in environmental engineering have been outlined. The development of environmental education lessons and programs in each high school subject is integrated with the interpretation of Al Furqan and university courses. The current study proposes lessons and educational programs, which balance theory in the classroom and practice outside the classroom, with the aim of fostering eco-theological education, with a special emphasis on developing awareness of water resources. The programs encompassed four subjects pertaining to water resources, drawing upon the guidebook, learning module and curriculum of natural science and religion study in high school.

Abstract

The tendencies of recalling and rethinking identity formation while remaining in the liminal space of the colonial matrix, are themselves the constructs of a particular language in itself. The decolonial theory was formed as part of standing beyond this particular language. In this perspective we can see numerous works conceptualizing the notions of meta-narratives outside the colonial matrix. This paper explores such dialogues and interpretations towards secularism and secular critic and approaches which place them in a broad sense of religion beyond the colonial perspective.

Abstract

The hijāb, rooted in Islamic principles of modesty, is widely recognised as a core aspect of religious belief and practice. While the obligation of modest dress is established in Islamic sources for both men and women, interpretations of the hijāb, particularly regarding the extent of covering required for women, vary significantly across different cultural, legal, and theological contexts. Often positioned at the centre of global debates on gender and religion, the hijāb is alternately viewed as a symbol of piety, identity, resistance, or patriarchal control. This study analyses the hijāb, exploring how Muslim women understand and practice veiling within diverse socio-religious and feminist frameworks. The paper draws upon Islamic jurisprudence, feminist theory, and textual analysis to explore the Qur’anic and Hadith-based foundations of modesty, alongside the evolving discourses on veiling in both Muslim-majority societies and diaspora communities. It also considers how modesty is expected of men in Islam, though often overlooked in public discourse. Furthermore, the study investigates the impact of state policies—whether enforcing or banning the hijāb on women’s autonomy, identity formation, and public participation. The findings reveal that the hijāb cannot be reduced to a monolithic symbol. Its meanings are shaped by individual conviction, spiritual commitment, social context, and broader political dynamics. By analysing both male and female expectations of modesty, this paper contributes to a nuanced understanding of the hijāb as a multidimensional expression of Islamic faith, personal agency, and gendered identity.

Abstract

The Arabic language was formed long before the arrival of Islam, also known as the al-Asru al-jahili period. Arabic is part of the South Semitic language family spoken by the people living in the Arabian Peninsula, southwest of the Asian continent, and is considered by some to be the oldest historical language. As it developed, Arabic is now the official language of various countries, including Qatar, Chad, Palestine, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Oman, Gambia, Somalia, Iraq, Tunisia, and many more. There is still much debate about the history of the Arabic language, due to the lack of concrete evidence in the form of artifacts and other evidence proving its origin. This makes it difficult to prove its origin and when. The big question is whether Arabic is a descendant of a Semitic language or is it actually its parent language. Linguists have two opinions: one is that Arabic is a descendant of a Semitic language, based on the many similarities and similarities in the linguistic elements. Another view holds that Arabic is the mother of all other languages, and even the source of all other languages. Historians agree that the earliest evidence and documentation of Arabic texts was found in the 3rd to 5th centuries AD, known as al-Asru al-Jahili.

Abstract

The concept of ta'dib, initiated by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, represents a re-originalization of the foundations of education in Islam. The concept of ta'dib, in al-Attas's view, is deeper than the value and meaning of education itself. Through the concept of ta'dib, al-Attas explains three important things. First, recognition. Second, recognition. Third, wisdom (hikmah). The meaning of recognition is that humans acknowledge Allah as their creator. Recognition means that humans also acknowledge that when humans are sworn in by their God with the witness of the spirit. And wisdom (hikmah) here is a reflection of justice and etiquette. This paper uses an analytical method based on library research. The conclusion of the study shows that the concept of ta'dib as an Islamic educational concept leads to the formation of good men (good individuals) supported by intellectual intelligence and skills, which is one of the efforts that must be revived in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study explores entrepreneurial organizational planning as a strategic approach to building effective, competitive, and value-driven ventures. Using a qualitative descriptive method through literature review, the article examines four key aspects of organizational planning: fundamental concepts, planning tools, planning processes, and strategic approaches. In a rapidly changing economic and technological landscape, entrepreneurs are required to design organizations that are adaptive yet purposeful. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating Islamic values into organizational planning to ensure that the process is not only operationally efficient but also ethically sound and socially beneficial. Values such as honesty, trustworthiness, social responsibility, and public benefit (maslahah) serve as the spiritual foundation that guides planning towards a balance between worldly success and eternal values. The findings reveal that combining modern planning tools (such as the Business Model Canvas and SWOT) with adaptive approaches (such as effectuation, lean startup, and design thinking) provides a robust framework for contextually relevant and impactful business planning. Therefore, this article offers an integrative, value-based planning model rooted in Islamic principles, aimed at fostering sustainable and impactful entrepreneurial organizations.
