Abstract

Coffee is one of the plantation commodities that has an essential role in Indonesia's economic activities. Kayumas Village, Arjasa District, Situbondo Regency, is the area that grows the most Arabica coffee compared to other areas in Situbondo Regency. The decline in selling prices and demand for coffee is one of the existing problems, so it is necessary to use coffee production factors efficiently so that farmers can still get maximum profits. This research aims to identify factors that influence Arabica coffee production and the allocative efficiency of Arabica coffee farming. Secondary and primary data collected through interviews and observations were analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas method and the allocative efficiency formula. The number of respondents was 20 people in the Sejahtera farmer group in Kayumas Village, Arjasa District. Determining respondents used a saturated sampling technique because there were fewer sample farmers than 30 people. The results of this research show that the production factors are land area (X1), number of coffee trees (X2), labor (X3), organic fertilizer (X4), age of coffee plants (X5), distance from house to land (X6), and shade plants. (X7) simultaneously influences coffee production. However, partially, the production factors that influence coffee production include land area (X1 ), age of the coffee plant (X5), and distance from house to land (X6), with a significance of less than 0.05. The level of allocative efficiency of the production factors of land area and organic fertilizer is still not efficient, while the production factors of labor and the number of trees are not yet efficient, so to achieve this level of efficiency, the input in the form of labor and the number of trees must be reduced. This differs from the land area and organic fertilizer that farmers need to increase to reach an efficient level in Arabica coffee production.

Abstract

One of the agricultural commodities that is very significant in boosting the country's economy is coffee. Kayumas Village is the largest coffee-producing area in Situbondo Regency. Kayumas Village can potentially develop organic coffee with some of the already certified organic land. Organic coffee is coffee that is produced using organic methods such as using organic fertilizer. Coffee farming in Kayumas Village is still entirely sustainable. This research aimed to determine the index and sustainability status of organic coffee farming in Kayumas Village, Arjasa District, Situbondo Regency. This research can provide information for farmers on the sustainability of coffee farming and can be a consideration for the government in making better policies regarding coffee farming. The study was conducted in 2023 by collecting data using survey and observation methods. Sampling used a saturated sampling technique because the sample was less than 30 people; the sample used was all 20 members of the Kelompok Tani Sejahtera. The analysis method used is Multidimensional Scaling (MDS), which uses the Rap-Coffe approach to see the sustainability status in Kayumas Village. There are five variables used in this research, namely ecological dimensions, economic dimensions, social dimensions, institutional dimensions, and infrastructure and technology dimensions. Each dimension has several attributes assessed to obtain a sustainability index value. The results showed that the ecological and economic dimensions are in the sustainable category, while the social and institutional dimensions and infrastructure and technology dimensions are in the moderately sustainable category. The most sensitive attributes to the sustainability of organic coffee in Kayumas Village in each dimension are (a) the ecological dimension, namely waste disposal; (b) the economic dimension, namely income outside coffee farming; (d) the social dimension, i.e., the average age of farmers; (e) institutional dimension, namely participation in farmer groups; (f) the dimensions of infrastructure and technology, namely the availability of agricultural processing industries.

Abstract

Enhanced recognition of the potential of organic fertilizers in promoting sustainable agriculture has stimulated the development of novel fertilizers. However, the more incredible difficulty lies in the parties' level of acceptance towards the ribost fertilizer. This study aims to identify the determinants that impact agricultural stores' acceptance of ribost fertilizer in the Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency. September through December of 2023, the investigation was conducted in Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency. Twenty associates willing to supply their stores with ribost fertilizer for sale on the market comprised the total sample. Utilizing WarpPLS, data is analyzed via structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS). Three of the four paths identified by the research findings were found to have a significant impact on agricultural shops' adoption of ribost fertilizer. The level of suitability of ribost fertilizer (X2), the quality of ribost fertilizer service (X3), and emotional factors regarding ribost fertilizer (X4) are identified as the variables that impact agricultural shops' acceptability of ribost fertilizer (Y). Moreover, the path Concurrently, the impact of the independent variable on the acceptance of ribost fertilizer (Y) by agricultural stores reached 74%.

Abstract

The food problem in Mentawai has been a polemic since the New Order (Soeharto's government) due to the development program. The FSVA (Food Security and Vulnerability) report shows that Mentawai Islands Regency is the only food-insecure district in West Sumatra Province. This is a dilemma due to the food transition from sago to rice, the resettlement program, and forest destruction caused by timber companies. This research looks at three major areas of the Mentawai Islands: Siberut Island, Sipora Island, and Pagai Island. Through a descriptive approach, 20 informants from the three islands were selected, and interviews, observations, and a literature review were conducted. Data were analyzed step-by-step. The results show that the mission to modernize the Mentawai people has disrupted their food security. The modern development program has changed the living habits of the Mentawai people, especially regarding food. The native food of the Mentawai people switched to rice and was forced to adjust due to the scarcity of sago because the forest has been commercialized into production forests. They were also moved from traditional houses to settlements built by social programs (Resettlement of Terasing Communities). The development program becomes a discourse that binds the facts of domination, reproduction, and socio-politics. Thus, we forget the local wisdom that grows and develops in the Mentawai community about food.

Abstract

Corn is a substitute food crop for rice, and its number continues to increase yearly. Therefore, corn has experienced an increase in productivity because many Indonesian people like corn. The supporting factor for a plant to develop well is the provision of fertilizer. The fertilizers used by Indonesian farmers are generally not environmentally friendly and damage soil nutrients, such as inorganic fertilizers or chemical fertilizers. Therefore, environmentally friendly fertilizers from living organisms are needed to increase nutrients with biological fertilizers (PGPR). The aim of this research is (1)to determine the effect of PGPR Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. from the roots of apus bamboo on the growth of corn plants, (2) knowing the comparison of variations in the concentration of PGPR Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. on corn growth. This research was carried out from January to February 2024 at the laboratory and the greenhouse of BBPPTP Surabaya. The research sample used was 21 corn plant seeds. The research variables used were plant height, root length, number of leaves, root fresh weight, leaf fresh weight, root dry weight, and leaf fresh weight. The research results were analyzed using the SPSS test (One-way ANOVA and DMRT) and presented in a table. The result showed that isolates of Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. had a natural effect on corn, while the best concentration was given at a Bacillus sp. concentration of 15% and Pseudomonas sp. 15%.

Abstract

This research investigates the factors influencing the interest of village youth in rice farming in Banjar Village, Panggul Subdistrict, Trenggalek Regency, conducted from October until December 2023. Factors such as motivation, perception of agriculture, social environment, and government support are examined to understand their impact on youth interest in farming. The declining youth labor force in agriculture poses a significant challenge, threatening the sustainability of family farms and agricultural development. The research employs a Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis to measure the relationships between the identified factors and youth interest in farming. Data collection involves primary and secondary sources, with respondents providing information on demographics, current occupation, motivation, perception of income, risk, work environment in rice farming, and the influence of family and school environments. The purposive method was used within this article, counting 50 local youth aged 15-30 years old with an experience or family background as a farmer. The analysis confirms that youth perception of agriculture, social environment, and government support significantly affect (<0,05) youth interest in rice farming, while motivation alone does not significantly impact. The study's measurement instruments demonstrate satisfactory convergent validity, construct validity, and composite reliability. Recommendations include maintaining positive perceptions of agriculture, educating rural communities on its importance, and enhancing government support through subsidies, access to capital, training, and extension programs. The research provides valuable insights for promoting agricultural development and ensuring the continuation of family farms by addressing the factors that influence youth interest in farming.

Abstract

A supply chain is a network of companies that work together to make and deliver products to end consumers. Specific market segments consume agricultural products and have a supply chain structure consisting of individuals based on trust between actors. Most companies in Indonesia have implemented supply chain management, but many have not maximized it, so it runs less effectively and efficiently. The problem in the FR tofu agroindustry is the incompatibility of the delivery schedule of soybean raw materials. This is due to climate change, poor weather conditions, and trade policies between countries that impact imported soybean production, which will hamper the production process in the FR tofu agroindustry. This study analyzes the supply chain flow of tofu products in the FR tofu agroindustry. The research was conducted at the FR tofu agroindustry in Sepande Village, Candi District, Sidoarjo Regency, from February to March 2024. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. This study's informants were six: 1 owner of FR tofu agroindustry, two people in tofu production, one soybean supplier, one cooperative employee, and one tofu retailer trader. The results showed that the supply chain flow of tofu products in the FR tofu agroindustry consisted of three flows, namely the flow of product (upstream to downstream), the flow of financial (downstream to upstream), and the flow of information (upstream to downstream and vice versa) The parties involved in the supply chain of tofu products are CV Rahardjo Indobeans, KOPTI "Karya Mulya" FR tofu agroindustry, and retail traders. This research suggests that the FR tofu agroindustry needs to build stronger relationships with local and imported soybean suppliers.
