Abstract

This study provides an in-depth exploration of the Hajj-related traditions that have developed within the community of Sekarbela, Mataram, as a reflection of the synergy between spiritual and social dimensions of communal life. In the Sekarbela community, a variety of meaningful pre-departure traditions are preserved and practiced, including ziarah kubur (visiting ancestral graves) as an act of reverence, selakaran (communal prayer gatherings) for blessings and collective supplication, and nyimpen (entrusting valuable items or messages to pilgrims) as part of the spiritual and social preparation for the pilgrimage. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study captures both the forms of these traditions and their social and economic impacts. The findings reveal that these practices not only reinforce social ties and maintain interpersonal connections, but also cultivate a strong sense of solidarity, communal belonging, and ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). The Hajj thus becomes a sacred and emotionally resonant occasion that deepens familial and communal bonds. However, the study also identifies challenges, particularly social pressures faced by prospective pilgrims from economically disadvantaged backgrounds due to prevailing expectations to observe these traditions in full. Nonetheless, the traditions remain flexible and adaptive, allowing individuals to participate according to their means without undue economic burden. Overall, the Hajj traditions in Sekarbela represent a living heritage that harmoniously integrates religious devotion, social unity, and local cultural wisdom

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in enhancing service quality and customer loyalty at BMT UGT Nusantara, a Sharia-based microfinance institution that upholds the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness. The implementation of GCG is considered a key factor in building public trust and fostering long-term relationships between the institution and its members. Using a quantitative approach, primary data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires administered to 100 active customers of BMT UGT Nusantara, supported by secondary data from financial reports and institutional documents. The findings reveal that GCG has a positive and significant effect on service quality, which subsequently strengthens customer loyalty. The assurance and reliability dimensions emerged as the most influential aspects in shaping customers’ positive perceptions of service performance. These results demonstrate that sound governance practices not only improve internal efficiency and compliance with Sharia principles but also enhance customer trust and satisfaction. The study concludes that consistent application of GCG principles across all operational activities is essential for improving competitiveness and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Sharia microfinance institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Islamic financial literacy and entrepreneurial motivation in strengthening students’ financial management skills at Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan. The disparity in financial literacy levels across Indonesian regions highlights the importance of continuous education and training in Islamic-based finance. Although awareness of Islamic economics is increasing, many students still lack adequate understanding of Islamic financial management principles, which may affect their future financial well-being. This research employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews and observations of students with entrepreneurial interests. The findings reveal that entrepreneurial motivation serves as a key factor encouraging students to adopt ethical and responsible financial management practices. However, the application of Islamic financial values remains largely conceptual and not yet fully integrated into entrepreneurial activities. Therefore, structured and practical Islamic financial literacy programs are necessary to enhance students’ competencies in managing sustainable and sharia-compliant businesses.

Abstract

In the modern era marked by ecological crisis and declining human values, the concept of fasad in the Qur'an needs to be re-considered in contemporary Islamic discourse. This study aims to examine the depth of the meaning of fasād in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:11) through Roland Barthes' semiotic theory approach. By tracing the layers of denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings, this approach reveals that the Qur'anic discourse on damage is full of complex and ideological meanings. This study uses a qualitative method based on literature study and a thematic interpretation approach (tafsir maudhu'i), by examining verses that discuss damage in various social, ecological, and spiritual contexts. The results of the study show that fasād, especially in QS. Al-Baqarah: 11, does not only refer to physical or material destruction, but also to deep moral and ideological damage such as hypocrisy, social disintegration, and ethical manipulation that are often disguised through the rhetoric of improvement (iṣlaḥ). Through Barthes' semiotic framework, the facade appears to function as a myth of legitimacy of power, which wraps the practice of exploiting resources and values ​​in a constructive intention. This finding confirms that semiotic theory can enrich the treasury of Qur'anic interpretation by opening up critical interpretative space, and positioning the Qur'an as a living ethical reference that is relevant to the complexity of the modern era.

Abstract

Islamic education presents a comprehensive and integral concept encompassing cognitive, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. In the perspective of classical Muslim scholars such as Ibn Sina and al-Ghazali, the teacher plays a fundamental role not only as a transmitter of knowledge but also as a guide, moral educator, and character builder. This study aims to analyze the typology of teachers and their authority in the transmission of knowledge within the framework of classical Islamic educational thought. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, using a literature study based on classical and contemporary scholarly works related to Islamic education. The findings reveal that in the Islamic educational tradition, teachers hold diverse typologies mu’allim, mu’addib, mudarris, shaykh, and ustadz each embodying distinct responsibilities and functions. A teacher’s authority is derived not only from intellectual mastery but also from moral integrity and spiritual exemplarity. Consequently, the teacher occupies a central position in shaping the balance between knowledge and ethics, serving as a key figure in maintaining the continuity of knowledge transmission within the Muslim intellectual tradition.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze and compare Thomas Kuhn’s concept of scientific paradigms with Ibn Rushd’s philosophical notion of rationality, while exploring their relevance to the development of contemporary epistemology. The study departs from the assumption that the tension between scientific relativism and objective rationalism lies at the core of methodological problems in modern philosophy of science. Employing a comparative-philosophical approach with textual analysis, this research examines primary sources such as Kuhn’s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions and Ibn Rushd’s Tahafut al-Tahafut and Faṣl al-Maqal supplemented by secondary literature from contemporary scholars. The findings reveal that Kuhn views scientific progress as a revolutionary process shaped by paradigm shifts and scientific community consensus, whereas Ibn Rushd emphasizes universal rationality grounded in the harmony between reason and revelation. Both thinkers share a critical stance against intellectual dogmatism and advocate for the emancipation of reason from oppressive authority. The synthesis of their ideas provides a philosophical foundation for reinforcing scientific rationality based on ethical values, while offering an integrative and contextual framework for reconstructing modern epistemology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Ta’limiyah Program as an instrument for strengthening religious values and shaping the character of new students at Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Ulum Pamekasan. The research is grounded in the importance of value-based education in nurturing students who are not only intellectually capable but also spiritually and morally strong. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed in this study. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews with caregivers and teachers (ustadzah), and documentation of teaching activities. The findings reveal that the Ta’limiyah Program effectively enhances the Qur’an reading skills of new students through the Qur’ani Sidogiri method and the talaqqi approach. Moreover, the program successfully internalizes religious values and fosters religious character through moral habituation, role modeling, and personal interactions between students and teachers. The analysis, grounded in religious-based learning, value education, and character education theories, confirms that the holistic educational approach adopted in the program fosters a conducive learning environment for the development of virtuous character. The Ta’limiyah Program thus serves as an integral instrument in realizing Islamic education that is not only focused on the mastery of knowledge but also on nurturing individuals with strong integrity.

Abstract

This study analyzes anxiety and depression from the perspective of the Qur’an by exploring their causes and the solutions it offers for achieving psychological well-being. Anxiety and depression are mental and emotional disturbances that arise due to the inability to manage life’s pressures and spiritual instability. This research aims to identify the Qur’anic concept of anxiety and depression and to describe Qur’anic approaches to overcome them. Using a qualitative method with a library research approach, data were collected from classical and contemporary tafsir, psychological studies, and relevant scholarly works. The findings reveal that anxiety (khauf) and depression (huzn) are inherent emotional states of human beings that become harmful when excessive or uncontrolled. The Qur’an provides spiritual and behavioral prescriptions such as dhikr (remembrance of God), prayer, patience, effort, and tawakkul (trust in God) as therapeutic principles to restore emotional balance and mental peace. These practices cultivate optimism, strengthen faith, and reduce negative emotions, demonstrating that the Qur’an offers a holistic framework for mental health grounded in spiritual resilience

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between attractiveness and buying decision, with competitive advantage as a moderating variable within the perspective of Sharia business management. The research was conducted on consumers of “Sahabat” Beef and Meatball Milling Kiosk located in Pringsewu, Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents selected by purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4 to test validity, reliability, and the structural relationships among variables. The findings reveal that attractiveness has a positive and significant effect on buying decision. Furthermore, competitive advantage significantly moderates this relationship, indicating that a stronger competitive advantage enhances the influence of attractiveness on consumer purchasing decisions. These results highlight the importance of integrating Sharia-compliant values into marketing strategies, emphasizing ethical appeal, product integrity, and spiritual value as key factors that strengthen consumers’ decision-making processes in Islamic business contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Book Creator media combined with the question-and-answer method in improving the receptive language skills of children aged 5–6 years. Receptive language, which includes listening and understanding stories, is a fundamental aspect of early childhood development that requires systematic stimulation. The research was conducted in Group B of Pembina 1 Public Kindergarten, Lubuk Linggau, using Classroom Action Research (PTK) carried out in two cycles. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews, and were analyzed descriptively to determine the improvement across cycles. The findings indicate a significant increase in receptive language skills after the implementation of the intervention. In the first cycle, 48% of children met the expected receptive language indicators, while in the second cycle this figure increased to 87%. The 39% improvement demonstrates that the use of Book Creator media supported by the question-and-answer method effectively enhances children’s ability to listen to and comprehend stories. These results confirm that the applied learning model successfully achieved the research objective of improving receptive language skills among children aged 5–6 years.
