Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic education in developing the Adversity Quotient (AQ) of students at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, Universitas Al-Hikmah Indonesia (UAI) Binangun, a boarding-school-based higher education institution in Tuban, East Java. In the era of disruption, prospective educators face complex psychological and academic pressures, requiring strong mental resilience. This qualitative research employs a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the dean and lecturers, participant observation of online learning and social projects, and documentation of academic archives. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results indicate that the integration of Islamic values such as sabr, tawakkul, istiqamah, and amanah with the pesantren riyadhah tradition significantly strengthens the four dimensions of AQ: Control, Ownership, Reach, and Endurance (CORE). The design of Islamic education learning through the stages of assimilation, accommodation, and balance based on online platforms and social project activities serves as the upstream source for developing students' adversity intelligence. This study concludes that the boarding-school-based higher education model provides a comparative advantage in producing prospective educators who are not only cognitively competent but also excel in spiritual and mental resilience

Abstract

This study examines the Islamic legal perspective on the use of Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) among underage married couples in Indonesia. The issue becomes increasingly relevant due to the continued occurrence of child marriage through marriage dispensation mechanisms, which often place adolescent wives at high risk of reproductive health complications, psychological instability, and socioeconomic vulnerability. This article aims to analyze the legal status of IUD use for underage couples from the perspective of Islamic law through the approach of Maqasid al-Sharia. The research employs normative legal research with a conceptual and statutory approach by examining Islamic legal sources, fiqh principles, and regulations related to marriage and reproductive health. The findings indicate that the use of IUDs for underage couples is legally permissible (mubah) and may become recommended (mandub) or even obligatory (wajib) in situations involving serious medical risks to the wife. This position is based on the principles of hifz al-nafs (protection of life) and hifz al-nasl (protection of progeny), as well as the fiqh maxim ad-dararu yuzal (harm must be eliminated). Furthermore, the use of IUDs is not considered contrary to Islamic teachings on procreation, but rather constitutes a preventive effort to ensure maternal health and family welfare. The study concludes that the use of IUDs among underage married couples reflects a contextual and humanitarian-oriented implementation of Islamic law aimed at achieving public benefit and preventing greater harm

Abstract

The mystification of worship values during the month of Muharram within the Suro cultural tradition remains a persistent phenomenon in the community of Sei Muka Village, Datuk Tanah Datar District, Batu Bara Regency. This study aims to analyze how such mystification emerges through the interaction between Islamic teachings and local cultural practices. Employing a qualitative approach with the living hadith method, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate a shift in the understanding of Muharram from its normative meaning in hadith, emphasizing the enhancement of worship—to a cultural interpretation embedded with mystical elements. Various social prohibitions, such as restrictions on marriage, relocation, and starting new businesses, are believed to carry negative consequences, reflecting the sacralization of time within the community. However, authoritative hadiths concerning the virtues of Muharram do not prescribe such restrictions. This discrepancy demonstrates an expansion of meaning influenced by Javanese traditions and intergenerational cultural internalization. The study concludes that the mystification of worship values represents a dialectical interaction between religious texts and local culture, which shapes distinctive patterns of religious expression while simultaneously indicating a gap between textual and contextual interpretations of hadith

Abstract

Mental health is an essential element in education, particularly in Islamic Religious Education, as it plays a role in shaping students' emotional, spiritual, and behavioral development. This study carefully examines the concept of mental health proposed by Abu Zaid Al-Balkhi and evaluates its relevance within contemporary Islamic religious education. Employing a qualitative approach based on literature analysis and a conceptual-analytical method, the primary source is Al-Balkhi's work Mashalih al-Abdan wa al-Anfus, supported by relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that Al-Balkhi defines mental health not merely as the absence of disorders, but as a dynamic state of balance encompassing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. This balance is achieved through cognitive management, emotional control, and the reinforcement of spiritual values. Al-Balkhi's thought aligns with modern cognitive therapy, particularly in transforming negative thinking patterns into constructive ones. Values such as gratitude, patience, and self-control play significant roles in maintaining mental well-being. This study contributes by offering a conceptual integration of Al-Balkhi's ideas into Islamic Religious Education through a holistic learning approach that emphasizes not only intellectual domains but also the development and well-being of students' mental health. Thus, this framework is relevant as a foundation for developing integrative education tailored to current student needs

The research is motivated by the importance of the madrasah head's role in building a culture of tahfidz discipline through a system of memorization targets, supervision, and continuous program evaluation. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants included the madrasah head, tahfidz teachers, the vice principal, students, and parents. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, while data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the madrasah head applied transformational leadership through role modeling, motivation, supervision, and regular evaluation of the tahfidz program. Development strategies included annual memorization targets, routine muroja'ah (revision), memorization monitoring, and the use of rewards and punishments. The program's success was supported by the commitment of the madrasah head, the competence of tahfidz teachers, and parental involvement in supervising students' memorization. Inhibiting factors included differences in students' memorization abilities, lack of consistency in muroja'ah, and time limitations. The study concludes that the transformational leadership of the madrasah head plays a strategic role in building a quality culture and discipline within the superior tahfidz program at Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dual roles of women in the coconut husking community in Mendahara Ilir, as well as to review these roles from the perspective of Islamic law. The dual roles referred to include domestic roles as wives and housewives, and public roles as income earners in the informal sector. This research employed a qualitative approach with a field study method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that women in this community make significant contributions to the family economy while continuing to fulfill their household responsibilities. From the perspective of Islamic law, these dual roles are permissible as long as they do not neglect primary family obligations and do not conflict with sharia principles. Islamic law appreciates women’s hard work and recognizes their right to work, provided that they maintain proper conduct, family responsibilities, and Islamic values. Therefore, the dual roles of women coconut huskers in this area can be categorized as a form of social ijtihad that aligns with the objectives of maqashid sharia, particularly in the aspects of protecting life and property

Abstract

This study examines the practice of weighing marine products in Rangai Tritunggal Village, Katibung District, South Lampung Regency from the perspective of Islamic economic law. The aim is to describe the weighing practice and analyze its compliance with sharia principles. This research is field research using a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews with 15 people consisting of fishermen, traders (pelele), and consumers, supported by a literature review of books, national and international journals. Data analysis was performed descriptively and analytically. The results show that the weighing practice of marine products is conducted using a per-box system containing 25 kg of fish and 5 kg of ice priced at IDR 750,000 per box. After the ice melts, the net weight of the fish shrinks to 23-24 kg, causing losses to consumers. This practice contradicts the principles of justice (al-adl), honesty (al-shidq), and mutual benefit (tawaffuq). Furthermore, this practice violates Q.S. Al-Muthaffifin (83) verses 1-3 and Article 25 of Law Number 2 of 1981 concerning Legal Metrology. Islamic economic law considers this weighing practice invalid (batal) because it contains fraud and uncertainty (gharar) that harms one party

Abstract

This study focuses on a comparative analysis of divorce regulations in Indonesia and Iran. The comparison is conducted to identify similarities and differences, so that the findings of the study can be used as material for reflection in addressing shortcomings, inspiring the formulation of regulations, and helping to unravel the problem of dualism in divorce regulations in each country. The method used is normative legal research with a comparative approach, using secondary data collected through documentary studies. The main sources of research include Law No. 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 1991 concerning the Compilation of Islamic Law, and marriage laws in Iran, namely قانون حمايت خانواده Qanun Hemayat-e Khanevadeh (Family Protection Law). Data analysis was carried out in several stages, namely editing, classifying, verifying, analysing, and concluding, so as to obtain a systematic and accountable picture. The results of the study show that divorce in Indonesia and Iran can both be carried out through the talak mechanism. However, at the technical level, there are differences, particularly regarding the recording of divorce: in Indonesia, divorce is proven by a court decision, while in Iran it can be based on a statement of incompatibility or a divorce decree from the court
