Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) in empowering local communities through religious education, strengthening digital literacy, and enhancing village governance capacity in Alue Teungoh Village, Aceh Jaya Regency. The study is grounded in the need to address socio-religious challenges, digital transformation, and the growing demand for transparency and accountability in village administration in the contemporary era. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing field observations, in-depth interviews with village officials and community members, and documentation of KKN activities as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that religious education initiatives contributed to increasing community participation in religious activities and fostering moral development among youth. Digital literacy programs enabled community members, particularly young people and village administrators, to utilize information technology for administrative purposes, promotion of local village potential, and access to public information. Interventions in village governance enhanced officials’ understanding of transparency, accountability, and regulation-based public service principles. The integration of these three dimensions generated a synergistic impact on strengthening the social and institutional capacities of the village community. This study concludes that an empowerment model integrating religious education, digital literacy, and village governance strengthening through KKN is effective in promoting participatory and sustainable social transformation at the village level. These findings offer a conceptual contribution to the development of locally responsive KKN models and community-based rural development strategies.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in the national economy, yet frequently encounter obstacles in adopting digital technology due to infrastructural limitations. Siomay Oishii, a culinary MSME located in Bandung and the partner of this community service program, faced constraints in expanding its market reach and operational efficiency due to limited digital marketing literacy and unstable internet connectivity. This community service program aimed to strengthen telecommunication network infrastructure to support the digital sales and marketing system of Siomay Oishii. The program was implemented in three stages: (1) needs analysis and installation of supporting telecommunication network devices, (2) digital marketing management training, and (3) intensive assistance in online-based sales operations. To contextualize the importance of network infrastructure at the national level, this program was also supported by a public opinion survey on telecommunication network quality perception in Indonesia. The results indicate an improvement in the quality of network connectivity used by the partner, along with an increased capability to independently operate online sales platforms. These outcomes reflect the essential role of telecommunication network infrastructure as a foundation for accelerating digital transformation among culinary MSMEs

Abstract

Community service is one of the three pillars of higher education. The community service activity entitled Heritage Goes to School is a way of introducing heritage and historical values to high school students. This activity includes socialization and efforts to preserve heritage in the city of Medan so that historical and cultural heritage is not lost in the memory of the younger generation. The Heritage Goes to School activity collaborates with the partner Beranda Warisan Sumatera (BWS). BWS is a non-profit organization that focuses on raising awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The collaboration with the BWS community aims to disseminate historical values and heritage to the community, especially the younger generation, namely high school students. The location for Heritage Goes to School was Madrasah Aliyah Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif North Sumatra High School. Heritage Goes to School was carried out by presenting the history of Medan City and its heritage, followed by heritage games as an effort to introduce historical and heritage values to high school students in a fun way. This was done as a step to socialize historical values and heritage and attract the interest of the younger generation in heritage preservation. The outputs of this activity were the publication of a socialization video on YouTube, news publications in the national media, and article publications in national journals.
