Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic business ethics principles among chicken meat traders in Duko Timur Village, particularly regarding the practices of honesty, trustworthiness, justice, responsibility, and ihsan in buying and selling activities. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain a factual overview of traders’ behavior in their daily economic activities. The findings reveal that the traders have generally implemented Islamic business ethics consistently, such as maintaining transparency in weighing, giving buyers the freedom to determine the quantity of their purchase, and providing friendly and humane service. Religious motivation, especially the belief in the blessing of sustenance, plays a significant role in encouraging these ethical behaviors. The study concludes that sustaining business practices that adhere to sharia principles requires collaboration among traders, consumers, and market managers to develop service standards, strengthen ethical literacy, and create a fair and sustainable market system. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing traditional markets based on Islamic economic values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparative results of translating balaghiyyah meanings in Ibn al-Rumi elegiac poem using the traditional Al-Ma‘ani dictionary and Google Gemini. Employing a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach, the study uses six selected verses of Ibn al-Rumi poem and their translated outputs as the primary data. The findings reveal that the Al-Ma‘ani dictionary is superior in presenting deeper connotative meanings and the aesthetic values of classical Arabic, as it is grounded in lexical analysis and contextual semantics. Conversely, Google Gemini excels in efficiency and syntactic clarity but tends to produce literal translations that fail to capture the rhetorical and symbolic nuances. Thus, the study concludes that traditional dictionary-based translation remains more effective in preserving the balaghiyyah meaning of Arabic literary texts, while AI-based translation still requires further development to better comprehend figurative and expressive meanings.

Abstract

Changing times have influenced the patterns of transmission, authority, and reception of hadith within Muslim societies. This article examines the dynamics of contemporary hadith studies, emphasizing the role of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as traditional institutions that maintain the sanad (chain of transmission), authority, and methodology of hadith criticism. Three main findings emerge. First, the transformation of the method of hadith transmission: from the established patterns of talaqqī, ijazah, and sanad in pesantren to new forms beyond the control of scholarly authority, thus posing challenges to the authentication of riwayyah (reportage). Second, the emergence of widespread community participation in quoting, interpreting, and disseminating hadith instantly without the methodology of ‘ulūm al-ḥadīṡ, which has the potential to distort understanding. Third, the contestation of authority: pesantren function as guardians of the sanad and critique of the matan (translation), but at the same time face challenges from non-traditional figures who gain religious legitimacy through social popularity, not scholarly authority. This study confirms that Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) have a strategic position in maintaining the authenticity of hadith by integrating classical methodologies—sanad and matan criticism—and contextual responses to contemporary needs. Theoretically, this research enriches the discourse on hadith studies by highlighting the relationship between authenticity, social reception, and the institutional role of Islamic boarding schools. Practically, this article contributes to educators, researchers, and preachers in formulating hadith teaching strategies that are authentic, critical, and relevant to contemporary challenges

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct Qur’anic social values through a tarbawi exegesis of the socio-educational principles contained in Surah Al-Hujurat, verses 11–13. Using a qualitative, literature-based research design, it examines classical and contemporary tafsir works, Islamic educational scholarship, and relevant social theories. The analysis explores how these verses offer moral and pedagogical foundations for cultivating a civilized social character. The findings demonstrate that the Qur’anic teachings—including prohibitions against mockery, safeguarding human dignity, avoiding suspicion, refraining from fault-finding and backbiting, and strengthening brotherhood—function as core principles of social education applicable to modern educational contexts. A tarbawi approach reveals that these values are not merely normative but have transformative potential in shaping learners to interact ethically, inclusively, and respectfully within diverse societies. Verse 13, emphasizing human equality and piety as the ultimate moral criterion, provides a framework for education that rejects discrimination and promotes social harmony. Thus, reconstructing Qur’anic social values through a tarbawi lens enriches the discourse on social education and contributes to fostering a more humanistic and dignified society.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Islamic ethical principles into modern Human Resource Management (HRM) practices to respond to the global shift toward value-based and human-centered management models.A systematic literature review was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, and other major databases. Thematic analysis was applied to identify how Islamic ethics—such as amanah, adl, ta’awun, sabr, and shura—are operationalized within HRM functions. The findings indicate that these ethical values can be embedded into recruitment, training, performance appraisal, compensation, and leadership systems. Their integration enhances organizational justice, employee engagement, cooperation, resilience, and decision-making effectiveness.Islamic ethics provide a relevant moral framework for shaping holistic, ethical, and sustainable HRM models. The study offers a conceptual alternative to conventional HRM approaches that tend to be materialistic and individualistic, demonstrating the potential of Islamic values to address contemporary organizational challenges.

Abstract

This article examines Islamic accounting in Indonesia as a normative–hybrid system shaped by the integration of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, Pancasila ideology, and the pressures of global accounting harmonization. Employing an integrative literature review, the study synthesizes conceptual, empirical, and normative–legal scholarship to analyze the interaction between Islamic values, national ideology, and international standards, particularly the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The findings indicate that Islamic accounting in Indonesia cannot be adequately explained through purely technocratic or religio-centric perspectives. Instead, it functions as a contextual normative system in which Islamic ethics and Pancasila serve as core guiding logics, while global standards, governance mechanisms, sustainability reporting, and digitalization operate as adaptive instruments. The study identifies persistent challenges, including partial IFRS harmonization, fragmented regulatory governance, and the risk of formalistic compliance that weakens ethical and social objectives. This article contributes by proposing the Indonesian Contextual Normative–Hybrid Islamic Accounting model, offering a framework for developing an ethical, socially grounded, and globally adaptive Islamic accounting system

Abstract

This study analyzes the relevance of Abu Yusuf's fiscal thought in the context of contemporary Indonesian fiscal policy, particularly during Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa's tenure as Minister of Finance. Indonesia faces a budgetary dilemma between spending efficiency and equitable distribution of fiscal burdens. Through Kitab al-Kharaj, Abu Yusuf offers a conceptual framework that balances economic efficiency with social justice in public financial management. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, analyzing primary sources including Kitab al-Kharaj and secondary sources comprising policy documents and academic literature. Analysis is conducted comparatively-descriptively through three stages: concept identification, principle comparison, and relevance evaluation. Findings reveal fundamental alignment between Abu Yusuf's principles and Purbaya's policies regarding budget allocation efficiency, subsidy control, and welfare orientation. Both approaches emphasize transparency, accountability, and proportionality in state financial management. However, implementing Abu Yusuf's principles in Indonesia still faces structural challenges including inter-regional fiscal distribution inequality, weak accountability enforcement, and minimal ethical dimensions in fiscal policy. This study recommends integrating classical Islamic economic values into Indonesian fiscal policy formulation to strengthen moral foundations and social justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Theory of Planned Behavior, Lifestyle, and Health Consciousness to Consumer Behavior in halal products, with Intention as an intervening variable (Study on Millennial Generation Consumers). The research employs Path Analysis, and hypothesis testing was conducted using IBM SPSS Version 25.0. The results of the first path analysis show that the Health Consciousness variable has a direct and significant influence on Intention. This finding aligns with the objectives of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, particularly ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of life), as health awareness encourages consumers to choose products that are safe, healthy, and halal to preserve their well-being and quality of life. Meanwhile, the variables Attitude, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavior Control, and Lifestyle have direct but insignificant effects on Intention. The second path analysis indicates that Subjective Norms and Intention have a direct and significant influence on Consumer Behavior. This corresponds to Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, especially ḥifẓ al-dīn (protection of religion) and ḥifẓ al-‘aql (protection of intellect), as social norms within Muslim communities are often shaped by Islamic values that encourage consumption behaviors aligned with halal and ṭayyib principles. Conversely, Attitude, Perceived Behavioral Control, Lifestyle, and Health Awareness show direct but insignificant effects on Consumer Behavior. In the indirect effect pathway, Health Awareness influences Intention and subsequently impacts Consumer Behavior among millennial consumers of halal-labeled health drinks. This result is also consistent with Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, as health awareness leading to the choice of halal, healthy, and safe products supports the preservation of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and intellect (ḥifẓ al-‘aql). Moreover, choosing halal products reflects the proper and beneficial use of wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl), ensuring consumption practices guided not merely by lifestyle preferences but by individual and societal well-being.

Abstract

Studies on Islamic education in Indonesia have predominantly focused on nationally recognized intellectual figures, while the contributions of local pesantren scholars remain underexplored in academic discourse. This article examines the relevance of the educational thought of KH. AD. Rahman Syakur in addressing contemporary educational challenges. Using a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes Sajadah Khidmah: Meneladani Khidmah dan Keistiqamahan KH. AD. Rahman Syakur as the primary source, supported by scholarly literature on Islamic education and pesantren traditions. Data were examined through descriptive qualitative content analysis. The findings indicate that KH. AD. Rahman Syakur’s educational thought emphasizes khidmah-based education, moral and ethical formation (akhlaq and adab), teacher exemplarity, and the integration of religious knowledge with social realities through community-oriented fiqh. These principles remain highly relevant in responding to technological disruption, moral decline, and the increasing commercialization of modern education. The study highlights the importance of reconstructing local pesantren scholarship as a contextual, humanistic, and socially transformative model of Islamic education.
