Abstract

Hypertension is a growing public health problem, particularly among young adults. This study aims to determine the prevalence of hypertension among young adult patients at Klinik Soedirman Purwokerto. The study uses a quantitative descriptive design with a sample of all patients aged 18-24 years who accessed healthcare services at the clinic from March to September 2024. The results show that the majority of patients were female (72.51%), with the most frequent age group being 20 years (29.75%). Recorded diagnoses of hypertension included both essential and secondary hypertension, with one case of both types found in a 20-year-old female patient. Risk factors contributing to hypertension in young adults include unhealthy lifestyle factors such as high salt diet, lack of physical activity, alcohol consumption, and smoking habits. These findings indicate the need for more effective preventive programs among young adults, such as promoting healthy lifestyles and routine blood pressure screening. This study can serve as a basis for designing hypertension prevention measures among students, particularly at Jenderal Soedirman University

Abstract

Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) can trigger various complications, one of which is Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), although this occurrence is rare. ITP is a bleeding disorder caused by excessive platelet destruction due to autoantibodies. This case report presents an 8-year-old female child who developed varicella accompanied by severe thrombocytopenia. Initially, the patient experienced prodromal symptoms including fever, followed by the appearance of vesicular skin lesions that spread centrifugally. Laboratory tests revealed thrombocytopenia, supporting the diagnosis of ITP. The management included antiviral therapy with acyclovir, platelet transfusion, and corticosteroid therapy to reduce inflammation. Although ITP triggered by varicella is rare, prompt and appropriate management is essential to prevent life-threatening complications.

Abstract

Background: Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (MAS) is a major cause of neonatal respiratory distress, occurring due to the aspiration of meconium-stained amniotic fluid. MAS can lead to airway obstruction, chemical pneumonitis, surfactant dysfunction, and persistent pulmonary hypertension. Objective: This article aims to review the risk factors, pathophysiology, diagnosis, complications, as well as prevention and management strategies of MAS based on recent literature. Methods: A literature review was conducted by analyzing relevant studies from scientific journals, medical textbooks, and other reliable sources. Results: MAS is associated with risk factors such as placental insufficiency, maternal hypertension, preeclampsia, and fetal hypoxia. Diagnosis is established through clinical assessment, radiological findings, and blood gas analysis. Management includes neonatal resuscitation, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and ECMO in severe cases. Conclusion: Early detection and appropriate management are crucial in reducing morbidity and mortality caused by MAS. Preventive strategies in the delivery room play a key role in reducing the risk of meconium aspiration and improving neonatal outcomes.

Abstract

Esophageal varices are one of the most common complications in patients with liver cirrhosis and can lead to high-risk bleeding. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the APRI (Aspartate Aminotransferase-to-Platelet Ratio Index) score and the degree of esophageal varices in liver cirrhosis patients at RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo. This research used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 89 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between the APRI score and the degree of esophageal varices (p=0.039, r=0.220), indicating that the higher the degree of esophageal varices, the higher the APRI score. These findings suggest that the APRI score can be used as a non-invasive tool to detect the degree of esophageal varices in liver cirrhosis patients, with potential as a more practical and cost-effective diagnostic method

Abstract

Handling drug abuse is a challenge that requires comprehensive intervention, including family support as an important factor in the success of rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and rehabilitation compliance in drug abuse clients in the BNK Pohuwato work area. The research design used was quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires to 24 respondents undergoing rehabilitation. Data analysis was carried out using the chi-square statistical test to identify the relationship between family support and rehabilitation compliance. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of family support and rehabilitation compliance (p <0.05). Clients with good family support had a higher level of compliance than clients without family support. Family support in the form of motivation, supervision, and emotional assistance has been shown to make an important contribution to the success of the rehabilitation program. This study emphasizes the importance of family involvement in the rehabilitation process as part of a drug abuse handling strategy. It is hoped that these results can be a reference for related agencies to develop more effective rehabilitation programs by involving the active role of the family.

Abstract

Toddler is a term used to refer to children up to the age of five. Children who are still in the toddler stage are very dependent on their parents in carrying out their daily activities. The toddler period is a crucial period in the child's growth and development process. One of the nutritional problems that often occurs in toddlers is stunting, which is a condition where the child's height is lower than the average height of children of the same age. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between infectious disease history and basic immunization status history with stunting incidence at Limboto Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. This study is a non-experimental quantitative study with a cross-sectional design using a retrospective analysis approach. Sampling in this study was carried out using the Non Probability Sampling Technique, namely the Purposive Sampling Technique. with a population of 2,895 respondents and a sample of 96 respondents, the chi-square test using the SPSS program obtained a p-value (0.000) smaller than α = 0.05 or p-value <α value so that it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a relationship between a history of infectious diseases and the incidence of stunting in the Limboto Health Center work area. In conclusion, there is a relationship between a history of infectious diseases and a history of basic immunization status with the incidence of stunting at the Limboto Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. Therefore, this study is expected to provide useful information for the implementation of the stunting program at the health center and help achieve the program's final goals.
