Abstract

This article discusses how the title and conflict narration in the documentary film Pesta Babi: Kolonialisme di Zaman Kita (2026) produce layered meanings. The study applies a qualitative interpretive design with Roland Barthes semiotics as the main analytical lens, particularly the concepts of denotation, connotation, and myth. The data were obtained from the film text, the title as an independent sign, public statements related to the film, and secondary materials concerning Papuan agrarian issues. The analysis indicates that the phrase Pesta Babi does not merely refer to a traditional ceremony, but also functions as an ironic sign that exposes unequal relations between indigenous communities, state development discourse, and extractive interests. The film presents agrarian conflict, ecocide, and militarization as connected parts of contemporary colonial practice. By foregrounding indigenous voices and symbolic resistance, the documentary challenges the dominant myth that development is always neutral and universally beneficial. This study contributes to media and communication studies by showing how documentary titles and cinematic strategies can become sites of ideological struggle.

Abstract

This study analyzes market reactions to stock buyback announcements on the IDX for the 2020-2025 period, focusing on the differences in AAR and ATVA before and after the announcement. The event study method used 198 samples (purposive sampling), with an 11-day event window (D-5 to D+5). AAR was calculated using a market-adjusted model, and ATVA was based on the volume ratio. The Wilcoxon test was used because the data was not normal. Results: AAR increased descriptively (-0.07262 to 0.08903), ATVA increased (2.42976 to 3.56669), but the Wilcoxon test showed no significance (AAR p=0.608; ATVA p=0.158). H₁ and H₂ were rejected, meaning the market did not respond significantly. This study tests Signaling Theory and the semi-strong form of the EMH in emerging markets during prolonged macroeconomic shocks and extends the empirical evidence to 2025. The results are expected to indicate whether the Indonesian capital market reacts significantly (semi-strong form information efficiency), as indicated by positive and significant abnormal returns around the announcement window, or whether it exhibits no significant response. The findings of this study have important implications for issuers in determining strategic corporate timing and for investors in formulating trading strategies to capitalize on event-driven momentum in emerging markets.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the dynamics of resilience in emerging adults following the death of a sibling. Loss during this developmental stage can trigger profound psychological disruption and the loss of a crucial emotional figure. The study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, involving three participants, two males and one female, aged 22–24 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through face-to-face in-depth interviews recorded with a voice recorder with participants’ consent. The resulting verbatim transcripts were analyzed using categorization techniques, including open coding, theme grouping, and meaning-making, and were validated through member checking. The findings indicate that resilience is not a linear process, but rather a dynamic movement from acute emotional crisis toward meaning-making, adjustment, and acceptance. In the initial phase of loss, participants generally experienced anger, emotional emptiness, reduced self-control, and uncertainty about their ability to endure. Resilience then developed through spiritual, cultural, and rational meaning-making, accompanied by changes in family roles, strengthened independence, and increased self-efficacy. The study also specifically found that social support and new responsibilities were important factors in accelerating recovery. Thus, resilience in emerging adults after the death of a sibling emerges through the interaction of emotional processing, meaning construction, and environmental support that strengthen future orientation.

Abstract

Students who are actively involved in student organizations often face both academic and organizational demands simultaneously, which has the potential to cause stress. This condition requires students to possess hardiness characteristics and academic self-efficacy in order to adapt optimally to various pressures. This study aims to examine the relationship between hardiness and academic self-efficacy among students of Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) who participate in student organization institutions. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research subjects consisted of 119 students from a sample of 251 student organization functionaries in the 2026 period, selected using random sampling from a population of 892 students. Data were collected using the Academic Hardiness Scale and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE). Data analysis was conducted using correlation testing. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between hardiness and academic self-efficacy among UKSW students involved in student organizations (r = 0.510; p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the higher the level of students’ hardiness, the higher their academic self-efficacy. Students with high hardiness tend to be more capable of managing pressure, maintaining motivation, and viewing academic and organizational challenges as opportunities for personal development.

Abstract

The evaluation of educational quality has shifted from a narrow focus on academic achievement toward more holistic, multidimensional frameworks that capture student experience and well-being. Although the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is increasingly adopted in education, its customer perspective is frequently reduced to superficial satisfaction measures, while its application in secondary education, particularly in developing countries, remains underexplored and dominated by single-method quantitative designs. This study operationalizes and empirically validates a student-centered customer perspective of the BSC in secondary education, focusing on academic services, non-academic services, learning experience, student satisfaction, and retention. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, quantitative survey data were collected from students at a public junior high school in Indonesia using stratified random sampling, followed by semi-structured interviews analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that overall student-centered performance is high, with academic services, especially teaching clarity and quality, rated as the strongest dimension, whereas non-academic services such as extracurricular activities and facilities received comparatively lower scores. Crucially, learning experience emerged as the primary interpretive lens through which students evaluate institutional performance, while satisfaction proved to be an affective, experience-based outcome rather than a purely cognitive judgment, and high retention reflected emotional attachment and a sense of belonging. These results suggest that student-centered performance is simultaneously measurable and experiential, and that BSC implementation in education should shift from an outcome-oriented orientation toward a meaningful, experience-driven approach to evaluating educational quality.

Abstract

The implementation of the Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF) is a crucial part of realizing reliable, safe, and orderly buildings in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 28 of 2002 concerning Buildings and Government Regulation Number 16 of 2021. However, in Sukabumi City, the implementation of SLF in commercial buildings has not been optimal. This study aims to encourage the publication of SLFs, identify obstacles, and develop strategies to improve building owners' compliance with SLF ownership obligations. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study of commercial buildings on Jalan Ahmad Yani in Sukabumi City. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with technical agencies (the Public Works and Housing Agency) and building owners or managers, totaling 20 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using the George C. Edwards III policy implementation model, which includes four variables: communication, resources, implementer disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The results indicate that building owners' compliance with SLF ownership remains low, with only 25% of all commercial buildings possessing SLFs. The main obstacles identified include a lack of outreach (communication aspect), limited expert reviewers and high costs (resource aspect), the absence of firm sanctions (disposition aspect), and weak inter-agency coordination (bureaucratic structure aspect). Furthermore, many older buildings still face administrative challenges due to a lack of complete technical documentation. The strategy for improvement is being implemented through strengthening public outreach, increasing the capacity of experts, establishing standard assessment costs, and implementing sanctions and incentives based on compliance. Implementation of this strategy is expected to accelerate the realization of administratively orderly and functionally fit buildings in Sukabumi City.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has expanded children’s space for learning, playing, communicating, and social participation. However, cyberspace also creates risks of online-based violence, including cyberbullying, sexual exploitation, identity misuse, personal data abuse, exposure to sexual content, and manipulation through digital platforms. This article examines children’s digital literacy as an instrument for protecting children’s rights in cyberspace. This study employs normative legal research using statutory and conceptual approaches. The primary legal materials analyzed include the Convention on the Rights of the Child, General Comment No. 25 of 2021, the Child Protection Law, the Personal Data Protection Law, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025, and Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2025. The study finds that children’s digital literacy should not be understood merely as technical skills in using digital devices, but also as the ability to understand rights, risks, ethics, safety, privacy, and reporting mechanisms. This article argues that digital literacy must be positioned as part of a rights-based child protection system, emphasizing the responsibilities of the state, families, schools, communities, and electronic system providers. Effective digital literacy should be preventive, participatory, inclusive, and oriented toward the best interests of the child.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the framing of news coverage regarding food poisoning cases in the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) on Kompas.com and Tempo.co. The research employed a qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model, which consists of four elements: define problem, diagnose causes, make moral judgement, and treatment recommendation. The data consisted of six news articles related to MBG food poisoning cases published throughout 2025. The findings reveal that both media outlets framed the poisoning incidents as serious issues requiring government evaluation. However, Kompas.com tends to present news that focuses on the facts of events, the impact on victims, and the handling steps taken by the government or related parties. Meanwhile, Tempo.co is more critical by highlighting weaknesses in program management, hygiene standards, and supervision of the implementation of MBG. Research findings show that differences in media framing can influence how the public understands and evaluates the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program. Therefore, improvements in program management and supervision are necessary to ensure food safety and the successful implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program.

Abstract

Manual attendance systems in student organizations are highly vulnerable to data manipulation, recording errors, and slow compilation. This study aims to design and implement a secure, accurate, and real-time digital attendance system using face recognition and passive liveness detection based on the YOLOv11 deep learning algorithm, integrated with the Laravel web framework. Following the structured Waterfall model, this research focuses on a population of 50 active members of Tapak Suci at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus, with a test sample of 20 individuals selected through purposive sampling. The system architecture is organized into five functional layers: Input, Processing (comprising YOLOv11, ArcFace, and Cosine Similarity), Application, Data, and Output. The system evaluation demonstrates excellent biometrics performance, achieving an overall system accuracy of 95.0%, a False Acceptance Rate (FAR) of 1.5%, a False Rejection Rate (FRR) of 5.0%, and an average processing latency of 1.2 seconds. Furthermore, the passive liveness detection module successfully mitigated up to 97.5% of presentation spoofing attacks, including high-resolution printed photos and video replays. The developed system effectively delivers an efficient, transparent, and highly secure biometric attendance solution to replace conventional paper-based methods.
