Journal of Educational Management Research is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original and significant contributions to educational management, administration, and leadership, in its broadest sense, from all over the world. This includes primary research projects in schools and further vocational and higher education institutions. This journal encourages contributions that respond to important issues in management education. Contributions may be either conceptual or empirical and are welcomed from any topic area and country so long as they primarily focus on management or organization in education. Although our core areas of interest are organizational behaviour and management in education, we are also interested in leadership, public relation, human resource management, social issues in management, financial management, organizational development, critical management studies, etc. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their work reviewed and evaluated by their colleagues prior to submission for formal editorial review.

Abstract

This study examines the design of a Public Relations and public service program aimed at improving institutional image and public satisfaction. Identified problems include a lack of communication integration, public services that are not fully responsive to public needs, and limited transparency and accountability, all of which contribute to low levels of public trust and participation. The purpose of this study is to analyze Public Relations program design strategies, identify community-oriented communication mechanisms and innovations in public services, and assess the role of transparency, accountability, and performance evaluation in strengthening institutional image. The method used is library research with a descriptive-qualitative approach, namely the collection and analysis of literature, journals, books, and documents related to Public Relations, public services, public communication, and institutional management. The results indicate that thorough strategic planning, appropriate communication implementation, responsive public service innovation, and systematic performance evaluation can increase public satisfaction and strengthen institutional image. This research's contribution lies in developing a Public Relations program model integrated with public service systems —both conventional and digital —to increase public trust and strengthen relationships between institutions and the community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine emerging trends, frameworks, and stakeholder perspectives on accreditation and quality assurance (QA) in Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. The purpose is to identify shared and divergent QA practices, analyze stakeholder roles, and assess how accreditation influences institutional performance and strategic priorities. A systematic literature review was conducted using predefined inclusion criteria, resulting in the selection of 48 empirical and conceptual studies from Scopus-indexed sources. Thematic analysis structured the findings into five key areas: conceptualizations of quality, comparative accreditation models, stakeholder participation in QA, challenges in autonomous institutions, and measurable impacts on performance. The results reveal that accreditation not only promotes standardization but also stimulates innovation and contextual adaptation, particularly in non-Western and autonomous institutions. Stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and transparency emerged as critical factors in ensuring QA legitimacy and effectiveness. Furthermore, accreditation was strongly associated with enhanced graduate employability, student satisfaction, governance, and market positioning. The study contributes to advancing the discourse on business education quality by highlighting gaps in existing frameworks and recommending more inclusive, flexible, and globally relevant accreditation strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the development of Environmental Governance Knowledge (EGK) through the integration of environmental culture in schools, with a focus on the Adiwiyata program. The study examines the process of building EGK and identifies both supporting and inhibiting factors in the program’s implementation. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed, involving data collection through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, which was validated through source and method triangulation. The data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify patterns and relationships. The findings reveal that EGK development is facilitated through the establishment of Adiwiyata structures, curriculum integration, routine activities like community clean-ups, and the inclusion of local cultural and religious values. Supporting factors include local government assistance, active participation from teachers and students, and external partnerships. In contrast, challenges include low environmental awareness, limited facilities, and inconsistent program sustainability. The study concludes that while the Adiwiyata program has successfully promoted ecological awareness and strengthened environmental culture, its continued success depends on ongoing collaboration, sufficient resources, and sustained behavioral change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Integrated Waste Management Program by the Waste Management Institution in Balai Gadang Village as an effort to reduce waste from its source. Although this program has been implemented, there are still obstacles in its implementation that hinder the effectiveness of the program. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation of the Waste Management Institution of Balai Gadang Village and the Padang City Environmental Agency. The data analysis process is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the Integrated Waste Management Program has not been running effectively, because several problems are still found such as a lack of public interest in joining the LPS service, socialization has not reached all areas of Balai Gadang Village, operational funds, facilities, and infrastructure are still limited, supervision is still reactive to public complaints, and delays in waste transportation, therefore important steps are needed for improvement and sustainability of the program.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the Rasailah Daku program from the perspective of street children as beneficiaries, particularly in improving their psychosocial well-being and independence. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of street children participating in the program and field facilitators. The results show that the Rasailah Daku program has a positive impact on increasing street children's self-confidence, self-awareness, and social skills. However, limited resources and continuity of support remain major challenges in achieving optimal results. The implications of this study highlight the importance of strengthening the capacity of facilitators, cross-sectoral support, and developing sustainable policies to ensure similar programs can provide long-term benefits for street children.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Sentuh Tanahku application at the Land Office (ATR/BPN) in Padang City, focusing on its role in supporting the implementation of electronic certificates and preventing land disputes. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with office officials, staff, and service users, as well as document analysis. The analysis utilized the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model, incorporating triangulation techniques for data verification. The findings, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), indicate that the Sentuh Tanahku application significantly enhances land service effectiveness through features such as certificate checking, online queuing, and Swaplotting. The application’s user-friendly interface and adherence to ISO/IEC 27001 security standards were also highlighted. However, the study identified three main barriers: a preference for conventional services, concerns about data security, and disparities in digital literacy. These challenges hinder the complete adoption and impact of the application. This research has implications for educational management, particularly in promoting digital literacy programs. By addressing barriers such as security concerns and digital literacy gaps, academic institutions and government agencies can foster a more inclusive digital transition, ensuring that digital systems in public services are accessible and effective for all.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the management of the Arabic language learning program at the Al-Hidayah Batu Islamic Boarding School, which includes aspects of planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation. This study uses a qualitative approach with field research. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the program head and Arabic language teachers, and documentation of learning activities. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the program planning is carried out systematically by the asatidz council through the preparation of a pesantren-based curriculum with the Takhotub and Al-Muhawaroh books as the main sources. Organization is carried out by implementing a line and staff structure to clarify the division of tasks and responsibilities among members. Learning is carried out every morning after the dawn prayer using various methods such as the mubasyarah thariqah and ta'bir thariqah, which emphasize the active involvement of students. Evaluation is carried out periodically through oral and written exams and follow-up assessments to improve the quality of learning. The research findings are expected to be a reference for other Islamic boarding schools in developing an adaptive, professional, and sustainable Arabic language program management model.

Abstract

This study examines the role of communication and stakeholder engagement in enhancing public services in Islamic education institutions. The purpose of this research is to analyze how integrating communication strategies and stakeholder participation can strengthen the management and effectiveness of public Islamic education services. A qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach was employed, drawing on secondary sources and conceptual studies of organizational communication, stakeholder management, and Islamic education governance principles. The analysis involved inductively interpreting data to identify patterns of interaction between communication, stakeholder involvement, and service quality improvement. The results indicate that effective communication and active stakeholder involvement are crucial for enhancing public services in Islamic education. Open, honest, and two-way communication fosters a harmonious work environment, builds trust among institutional members, and accelerates problem-solving. Stakeholder participation, both internal and external, provides moral, social, and oversight support, increasing accountability and legitimacy in the eyes of the community. The integration of communication and stakeholder engagement creates a transparent, adaptive, and sustainable governance system that embodies Islamic values such as shura, amanah, tabligh, and ta'awun in educational management practice.

Abstract

This study aims to clarify which leadership configurations most effectively enhance teaching quality and student outcomes in schools. Using a structured literature review guided by PRISMA, we searched Scopus, ERIC, Web of Science, Garuda, and Google Scholar (2014–2024) with Indonesian/English keywords on instructional, transformational, servant/teacher, distributed/visionary, and transactional leadership. Inclusion criteria were peer-reviewed journal articles in educational contexts with clear theoretical grounding and/or empirical evidence; records were screened, full texts appraised (JBI/MMAT), and findings synthesized thematically. Results indicate that no single style is sufficient. The most consistent gains arise from an integrated configuration: (a) instructional leadership to set academic goals, conduct classroom observation–feedback, and align curriculum–assessment; (b) transformational leadership—especially idealized influence, inspirational motivation, and intellectual stimulation—to build commitment and innovation; (c) servant/teacher leadership to strengthen psychological safety and professional ownership; and (d) distributed/visionary structures to secure continuity and strategic direction, with transactional elements used to maintain procedural reliability. This configuration converts trust into classroom practice via data-informed coaching and protected time for PLCs. Implications include designing leadership development that couples moral–relational competencies with auditable instructional routines, revising accreditation to value classroom practice evidence, and investing in data literacy and digital tools to support evidence-based instructional decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the synthesis of existentialism and phenomenology in educational leadership to develop a more inclusive and humanistic leadership model. The method used is library research, analyzing relevant literature on educational leadership, existentialism, and phenomenology. The main findings indicate that by integrating these two philosophical approaches, educational leaders can better understand and appreciate the lived experiences of individuals within the school community and provide each member with the freedom and responsibility to find meaning in learning. This approach encourages the creation of a more reflective, empathetic educational environment and is oriented toward character development rather than just academic outcomes. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the development of a humanistic perspective in educational leadership. Its practical implications include creating an inclusive and supportive school culture and increasing individual empowerment. These findings also open the door to further research to test the practical application of this synthesis in a broader educational context.
