Abstract

This study investigates the impact of integrating Project-Based Learning (PjBL) supported by Canva on procedural writing skills among eighth-grade students at SMPIT Muhammadiyah An Najah Jatinom. The research aimed to enhance student engagement, motivation, and writing performance by using digital tools in a bilingual Islamic education context. The results showed significant improvements in students' writing, with the percentage of students meeting the minimum mastery criterion increasing from 28% in the pre-test to 82% in Cycle II. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with iterative cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through qualitative methods (observations, interviews, field notes) and quantitative methods (writing tests). The findings confirm that PjBL and Canva effectively support multimodal literacy, foster collaboration, and enhance writing skills. The study contributes to educational practice by offering a model for integrating digital tools into PjBL, particularly in bilingual classrooms. Future research should explore the long-term effects and the application of this approach to other genres of writing and educational settings.

Abstract

This study investigates elementary students’ perceptions of using songs in English language learning, exploring how songs affect vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and overall student engagement. The background highlights the growing trend of incorporating music into language instruction, yet there is a gap in understanding how younger students perceive its effectiveness. A quantitative research design with a descriptive approach was employed, utilizing a questionnaire to gather data from 30 Grade 5 students at a private elementary school in Manado. The results indicate that students perceive songs as a highly effective and enjoyable tool for learning English, with a mean score of 4.61, reflecting strong agreement on their impact on vocabulary and pronunciation. However, some students expressed concerns about the long-term retention of vocabulary and the limited contribution of songs to grammar and speaking fluency. The study concludes that while songs enhance motivation and specific language skills, a more integrated approach combining songs with other methods is necessary for comprehensive language acquisition. This research contributes valuable insights into the pedagogical value of music-based instruction in language learning and offers practical recommendations for educators.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the improvement of children’s learning motivation through the implementation of performance task activities in Group B at TK Bunga Bangsa. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved 22 children (11 boys and 11 girls). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that prior to the intervention, children’s learning motivation was relatively low, with only 9 children (40.9%) demonstrating consistent focus and enthusiasm. After the implementation of various performance tasks—such as reciting short prayers, role-playing with zoo themes, explaining the chicken life cycle, and presenting artwork using banana midrib stamping techniques—children’s motivation increased significantly. A total of 17 children (77.3%) showed higher levels of focus, confidence, and active participation. These results suggest that performance task activities provide meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences that effectively enhance early childhood learning motivation. The study implies that performance tasks can serve as an alternative pedagogical strategy to support more engaging and successful early childhood education.

Abstract

This paper emphasizes the urgency of implementing mixed methods in learning evaluation by integrating quantitative and qualitative data. This approach was chosen because learning evaluation cannot be understood solely through numbers or narrative descriptions; a synthesis of both types of data is necessary to obtain a complete picture of the learning process's effectiveness. This research employed a literature review method, analyzing evaluation theories, integration models, and the thinking of modern experts. The results of the study indicate that mixed methods can improve the accuracy, depth of analysis, and validity of findings through evidence triangulation. Furthermore, this approach allows evaluators to capture contextual aspects, such as motivation, interaction, and classroom dynamics, that may not be readily apparent in quantitative instruments. The integration of mixed methods also strengthens the basis for decision-making for educators and policymakers, enabling learning improvement processes to be more targeted and based on robust data. The research highlights the practical implications of adopting mixed methods in learning evaluation, emphasizing how this approach enhances the comprehensiveness of educational assessments. It provides educators and policymakers with a more nuanced understanding of learning dynamics, leading to more informed, context-sensitive decisions that drive practical educational improvements.

Abstract

Protected forest management in Indonesia, particularly in Sukabumi Regency, faces various challenges related to policy implementation and inter-agency coordination. This study aims to analyze protected forest management in Sukabumi through the application of good governance principles, with a focus on improving institutional capacity and coordination between stakeholders. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and field observations. The results indicate that the main obstacles in protected forest management are budget constraints, low inter-agency coordination, and the community's economic dependence on forest resources. Although planning is in place, implementation in the field remains limited. This study concludes that strengthening technical capacity, inter-agency coordination, and more consistent application of good governance principles can increase the effectiveness of protected forest management. The contribution of this research is to provide practical solutions to improve forest governance and enhance the sustainability of protected forest management in Indonesia.
