Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model and gamification in improving elementary school students’ writing skills. The main focus of this research is to explore how both approaches can be integrated to create a more engaging, relevant, and effective learning experience. This study employed a qualitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, involving 30 fourth-grade students and two teachers. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, writing skill tests, student engagement observation sheets, and documentation in the form of photos and videos of learning activities. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis model. The results show that the integrated application of CTL and gamification significantly improved students’ writing quality and fluency, enhanced learning motivation, and increased active participation during the writing process. Students not only produced more structured and coherent texts but were also able to connect their writing ideas with real-life contexts and experiences. Gamification contributed to intrinsic motivation through points, badges, and challenges, while CTL helped students recognize the relevance of learning to everyday life. Overall, the integration of these two approaches proved effective in improving writing skills while fostering students’ cognitive, social, and metacognitive abilities. CTL and gamification can thus serve as innovative teaching strategies in writing instruction to create more meaningful and sustainable learning experiences.

Abstract

Based on preliminary observations conducted by the researcher in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 33 Pagar Alam City, several issues related to the development of students’ creativity were identified, such as the lack of teaching materials and tools used by teachers, the limited creative ideas from students, and the low enthusiasm of students in developing their creativity. These conditions affected students’ abilities to express ideas, solve problems, and build self-confidence. This study aimed to determine whether there is an influence of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) on the development of creativity among fourth-grade students. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis included validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, linearity tests, hypothesis testing, and significance testing. The results showed that the t-count value (2.997) was greater than the t-table value (1.717) (t-table 5%, n = 22), and the significance value was 0.006 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of P5 on the development of creativity among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 33 Pagar Alam City.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between digital literacy and students' analytical abilities in the context of technology-based learning, as well as to identify the challenges and solutions in its implementation. Digital literacy, which includes technical skills and the critical ability to access and evaluate information, is believed to influence how students think and solve problems analytically. The method used in this research is a literature review with a qualitative approach, where the author collects and analyzes various journals, articles, and previous studies related to digital literacy and technology-based education. The results show that although high digital literacy can enhance students' analytical abilities, there are several key challenges faced, including the digital access gap, the unpreparedness of most teachers to integrate technology into learning, and the lack of students' understanding of the importance of critical thinking. Additionally, the proposed solutions include increasing teacher training, developing curricula that integrate digital literacy, and using problem-based learning (PBL) models that can facilitate the improvement of students' analytical abilities. The conclusion of this study is that to maximize the potential of technology-based learning, a holistic approach is needed, involving strengthening students' digital literacy, improving teacher readiness, and providing more equitable access to technology.

Abstract

This research aimed to enhance students’ communication skills in chemistry through the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) at MAN 2 Bengkalis. The study utilized a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart framework, which includes the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting across three cycles. The participants were 24 eleventh-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were gathered using observation sheets to evaluate communication abilities and post-tests to measure learning achievement. The findings demonstrated a steady increase in students’ communication performance, improving from 73% in Cycle I to 81% in Cycle II and reaching 86% in Cycle III. Progress was evident in four key areas: accuracy of responses, participation in group discussions, presentation quality, and teamwork. Additionally, students’ learning outcomes showed notable gains, with mastery levels increasing from 54% in the first cycle to 88% in the final cycle. These results suggest that implementing PjBL effectively fosters active engagement, improves collaboration, and strengthens students’ conceptual understanding of chemistry concepts. In general, the use of this model contributes to a more dynamic and meaningful classroom experience, supporting the cultivation of essential 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of loanwords in sports news in the online newspaper Rakyat Bengkulu. The research uses a qualitative approach, focusing on exploring processes, events, and developments in language use. Data were collected from Rakyat Bengkulu online during June, July, and August 2022. The study finds that loanwords in the sports news are primarily derived from English. For example, the word "sportivitas" (sportiveness) is a loanword from the English "sportivity," which has been adapted into Indonesian. Loanword adaptations in the sports news include both direct borrowing without changes in form or meaning, such as the word "Event," which is borrowed directly from English, meaning "occurrence," "event," or "occasion." Additionally, there are adaptations of foreign words with modifications to fit the recipient language, as seen in the use of "E-Sport," which has become a global phenomenon with numerous online and offline tournaments and competitions.

Abstract

This study examines the position of the Qur'an as the foundation of Islamic epistemology and its implementation in the contemporary era. The Qur'an is not merely a spiritual guide, but also a comprehensive methodological framework for understanding reality through the bayani (textual), burhani (rational), and irfani (spiritual) approaches. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, analyzing primary sources of the Qur'an and secondary sources from classical and contemporary Islamic thought literature. The results show that Islamic epistemology integrates revelation, reason, sensory experience, and spiritual intuition as sources of knowledge. In the contemporary context, the application of the Qur'an as the foundation of epistemology is seen in various fields, including education, astronomy, embryology, and technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital ethics. The integration of bayani, burhani, and irfani approaches produces comprehensive knowledge, based on revelation as well as rational, empirical, and spiritual. This study contributes to the development of an Islamic scientific framework that is able to address contemporary challenges without losing its identity and spiritual values.
