Abstract

In education, teacher teaching style is vital in influencing students’ learning interests. Teaching style involves teachers’ approach and methods to deliver material, interact with students, and create a conducive classroom atmosphere. This study aims to analyze the types of teaching styles used in Indonesia and their impact on students’ learning interests so that teachers and school institutions can form effective and innovative learning based on the conditions faced in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Secondary data from scientific journals, books, and relevant research articles were analyzed thematically. The study results indicate that teaching styles that actively involve students, such as interactive and differentiation, significantly impact learning interest. Students who feel involved tend to be more motivated because they have a role in learning. In contrast, conventional styles focusing on one-way lectures are less effective in increasing learning interest because they limit student interaction. This study recommends that teachers develop more collaborative and interactive methods and that educational institutions provide the necessary training so that they can apply various teaching styles that are more interesting and relevant to students’ needs.

Abstract

This systematic literature review explores the diverse aspects of full-boarding school students worldwide. Despite its significance, there is a lack of a comprehensive synthesis of existing research on students in boarding schools. This review aims to bridge this gap by analyzing and structuring the available literature. The study employed the PRISMA approach and conducted systematic searches in academic databases such as Scopus and Web of Science to gather comprehensive studies, reviews, and articles related to students in boarding schools. The analysis was categorized into four themes that unveiled the objective of this study by utilizing advanced search techniques and keywords such as (1) "boarding schools," (2) "towards students," and (3) "for students.” The final finding data (n=26) were distilled into four primary themes through expert validation: (1) practices and learning strategies, (2) social-emotional well-being and mental health, (3) cultivation of spiritual values and character, and (4) barriers and challenges. The study has produced significant insights and suggestions, but additional research is needed to understand the long-term effects of these educational experiences on students' lives and future chances. Educational frameworks must be continuously assessed for efficacy and equality, particularly in the 21st century's ever-changing world.

Abstract

The lack of motivation of children to learn numeracy is due to the tools used in delivering material that are not interesting, teachers always use worksheets, the methods used by teachers are less varied, teachers' creativity in utilizing the materials around them is still lacking so that children feel bored and tend to play alone without paying attention to the material presented by the teacher. Therefore, researchers will use loosepart media to improve children's numeracy development. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that aims to determine the level of numeracy development through loose part media in children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten. The subjects of this study are teachers and students of class B6 and the informants of this research are principals and teachers. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique uses source triangulation and triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the application of loose part media to improve the numeracy development of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten has been carried out through learning activities. Factors that support the application of loosepart media to improve children's numeracy development include natural factors, cognitive development factors, social background factors, learning motivation factors, teacher development factors, facilities and infrastructure factors, while the factors that hinder are environmental factors and teacher development factors.

Abstract

Recognizing the Arabic alphabet and its corresponding sounds can be challenging for Muslim learners in Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) classes. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Majmaea مجمعة Puzzle, an interactive strategy designed to enhance Arabic alphabet knowledge and sound recognition among Grade I to Grade III learners in the Arabic Literacy and Values Education program at NASA Elementary School during the academic year 2022-2023. Employing a single-subject experimental design, 31 selected pupils participated in the study, with assessments conducted through pre-tests and post-tests. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics and t-tests for dependent samples, were utilized to the data. The findings indicated that before the implementation of Majmaea Puzzle, learners exhibited a very low level of Arabic knowledge and sound recognition, with a mean score of 35%. Contributing factors included difficulties in phonological awareness and limited engagement with traditional teaching methods. Following the intervention, there was a significant improvement, with a post-test mean score of 81%, demonstrating that the interactive and contextualized nature of the Majmaea Puzzle effectively facilitated learning. The results suggest that incorporating interactive strategies like the Majmaea Puzzle can significantly improve the Arabic literacy of young learners. Hence, it is recommended that educators implement this approach to foster better engagement and proficiency in Arabic language skills.

Abstract

Covid-19 took the world by surprise, resetting world events for most of 2020. The educational system was negatively affected as students were forced to remain at home for several months without receiving teacher instructions. To engage the students remotely, most schools adopted e-learning to facilitate instructions so that the students would not waste their academic time to the pandemic. E-learning became a platform to ensure teachers connect with their students outside the classrooms. This study occurred among three purposively selected schools in Keffi Local Government Area Council of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. This research aimed to assess teachers’ perceptions of adopting digital technologies in giving instructions during the pandemic. Findings from the study show that digital technologies were quite valuable and beneficial to the teachers in providing instructions to the students. Further findings reveal that even though digital technologies proved helpful in providing instruction to the students, teachers faced challenges like unstable power supply, high cost of purchasing data and distractions from family members and friends. The study, among others, recommends that government and private individuals invest heavily in infrastructure to enable teachers to be better equipped to give instructions via digital media technologies.
