Abstract

This study aimed to explore how YouTube digital videos could enhance students’ speaking skills and to identify the factors that influenced these improvements. Conducted as Classroom Action Research, the study involved 36 seventh-grade students at MTsN 02 Kota Bengkulu. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, gathering both quantitative data through speaking tests and qualitative data through observations, field notes, and interviews. The results revealed that key factors driving this improvement included increased student motivation and active participation in the learning process. Students reported feeling more confident in their speaking abilities, and the authentic language input provided by YouTube videos helped them improve their pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. The novelty of this study lay in applying YouTube as a pedagogical tool within an Indonesian junior high school context, specifically focusing on its impact on speaking skills. Furthermore, the study highlighted the importance of combining digital media with interactive classroom activities to create a more engaging and effective learning environment. This research contributed to the growing body of literature on digital media in education by offering practical insights into how YouTube videos could be successfully integrated into language teaching to foster speaking skill development among younger learners. The findings suggested that YouTube digital videos served as an effective medium for improving language proficiency, particularly in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) contexts, where authentic language exposure was often limited. Moreover, the study emphasized the crucial role of motivation and student engagement, offering valuable strategies for educators to implement in their classrooms to enhance student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This systematic review examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on enhancing the writing skills of English foreign learners. It highlights how AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, provide immediate feedback on grammar, punctuation, and style, facilitating efficient revisions and fostering creativity through brainstorming and vocabulary suggestions. The review emphasizes personalized learning experiences by analyzing individual writing patterns, which allows for tailored resources that increase student engagement and motivation. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 checklist, the study evaluates 22 peer-reviewed articles published in 2024, revealing that AI tools promote collaboration among students through peer feedback and shared projects, enhancing critical thinking and communication skills. Additionally, AI improves accessibility for learners with disabilities through features like text-to-speech and speech recognition. The findings suggest that as AI technology evolves, its integration into language education will significantly enhance teaching methodologies and learning outcomes. This research underscores the importance of adapting pedagogical practices to fully leverage AI’s potential in promoting effective language acquisition, particularly in writing, thereby providing valuable insights for future explorations of AI’s role in educational settings.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to explore the participants’ lived experiences on medium of instruction while teaching English in the classrooms and to explore the participants’ lived experiences on Mother Tongue Based Multilingual Education approach to teaching English at primary level. Phenomenological research design was employed to complete this study. A set of questionnaires, interviews and discussion were the major research tools and three primary level English teachers were the sample population of this study. Phenomenological interviews and a set of questionnaires were used to collect the data. The collected data were transcribed, translated, coded and interpreted and analyzed thematically. The result of this study shows that a suitable medium of instruction is the most important factor and MTB-MLE approach is an effective approach to teach English language for the children of ethnic group people at pre-primary level. This study has implications for social change as teachers who engage in collaboration with colleagues and reflective practice will positively affect student achievement. Students may be taught by teachers who have the knowledge, skills, and attitude required for a successful implementation of a multilingual approach.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze and elucidate the incorporation of AI technology into the English language instruction process in Islamic universities in Indonesia. It also seeks to identify the obstacles and possibilities that emerge from this integration. The study employed a qualitative methodology, including observations, interviews, and documentation studies to gather data from both lecturers and students at Fatmawati Sukarno State Islamic University (UIN), Bengkulu during the academic year 2024-2025. The findings demonstrated that AI has the potential to enhance the efficiency of English language acquisition by means of tailored and interactive learning. AI facilitates the rapid enhancement of students’ proficiency in speaking, writing, listening, and reading by delivering precise and immediate feedback. Nevertheless, the presence of inadequate infrastructure and a lack of digital literacy among teachers and pupils pose significant barriers that must be surmounted. In order to maximize the capabilities of AI, this paper proposes numerous approaches such as providing training to lecturers, revising the curriculum, and fostering collaboration between educational institutions and stakeholders. Incorporating AI into English language education in Islamic universities not only enhances students’ linguistic abilities, but also equips them to confront worldwide technologies-driven issues.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in education administration to improve school performance. In the growing digital era, demands for efficiency and effectiveness in education administration are increasing, especially with the development of school information management systems (SIMS) and AI-based technologies. This research examines how these technologies can automate routine tasks such as class scheduling, student data management, as well as improve data-driven decision-making that is more accurate and efficient. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with the process of collecting data through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis directly from several schools that have adopted this technology. In analyzing the data, I used Miles and Hubberman's data triangulation technique in the form of data reduction, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of technology and AI has improved operational efficiency, accelerated administrative processes, and facilitated the monitoring of student and staff performance. However, the study also found challenges in technology adoption, including limited infrastructure, resistance to change, and concerns regarding data privacy. To overcome these obstacles, a holistic strategy is needed, including the development of supportive policies, digital skills training for staff, and improvement of technology infrastructure in schools. This research concludes that although the application of technology and AI in education administration faces various barriers, the potential benefits are significant, especially in terms of improving the efficiency, transparency and overall quality of school performance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze strategies for implementing positive discipline through the use of technology in providing feedback to students' parents. Positive discipline emphasizes the development of constructive behavior through a dialogue and empathy approach, not repressive punishment. However, one of the challenges in implementing this discipline is the lack of effective communication between schools and parents, which is often caused by limited time and access. In the digital era, technology offers innovative solutions to overcome this problem by facilitating the provision of fast and real-time feedback through school applications, digital platforms and instant messaging. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method in schools that implement positive discipline. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation from teachers and parents. The research results show that technology can increase the effectiveness of communication between schools and parents, allowing parents to monitor student behavior developments more efficiently. Technology also provides easier access for parents to get involved in supporting children's positive behavior at home, which in turn strengthens positive discipline at school. However, this research also identified several challenges, including gaps in technology access among parents, data security and privacy issues, and the potential for reducing the quality of personal interactions between teachers and parents. Therefore, it is important to develop inclusive and safe communication strategies to ensure optimal parental involvement. This research contributes to the development of a technology-based positive discipline approach, which it is hoped will be implemented more widely in schools, particularly in the context of increasing parental involvement and the efficiency of feedback provided.
