Abstract

This study aims to determine critical thinking skills in learning to write arguments in semester 2 students of the Faculty of Law, Trisakti University in Indonesian Law courses. The sample of this research was 80 students consisting of 2 classes using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are by observation, tests, and interviews. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that: (1) students’ critical thinking skills were 75% above the average, and 25% of the respondents’ answers were below the average. The highest indicator is formulating an appropriate question from an argumentation text of 83.55% and the lowest indicator is analyzing problems from an argumentation text of 63.45%, (2) efforts to develop students’ critical thinking in learning to write arguments through assignments, questions and answers as well as providing direction, (3) the obstacles faced by students in developing critical thinking in learning to write are students’ difficulties in solving problems and difficulties in expressing ideas and ideas into written form. While the obstacles faced by lecturers are that lecturers have never made a special assessment regarding critical thinking, this is because lecturers do not understand the indicators of critical thinking and do not understand the appropriate methods and techniques in developing critical thinking skills in learning to write arguments.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to compare 24-hour movement guidelines between city-based students and rural students. The study used the survey method with a cross-sectional study approach. The total number of subjects was 40 students with an average age of 20.69 0.83 years, weight 57.32 10.57 kg, and height 169.66 9.78 cm. The findings in the study showed that the students living in the village had met the sleep duration (65%), the duration of screen use (55%), and the physical activity guideline (75%), whereas the city students only met 45% for sleep durations, 20% for screen use, and 35% for 24 hours. Thus, it could be concluded that geographical positioning affects the level of physical activity, so the findings could be used as material for consideration for students to be able to mimic healthy lifestyles that are often applied by students residing in the country in order to balance their fitness status.

Abstract

The background problem in this research is the inactivity of students during learning activities, especially in science lessons, which is caused by the lack of learning resources used by educators. This is because the teacher does not have teaching materials such as modules so that the learning process only takes place using teacher books and student books. The efforts made by the author to provide solutions to the problems that occur at Elementary School by producing a companion module for science based on MIKiR learning and literacy. The importance of developing teaching materials for companion modules in learning activities experienced by educators and students. This research is a development research using the ADDIE form. This research was carried out in several stages, namely the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The results of the validation research by three validators have a score of 86% which can be categorized as very valid. The results of the practicality assessment of the companion module conducted by the teacher and fifth grade Elementary School students got a score of 90.39% which was categorized as very practical. The results of the effectiveness carried out by fifth grade Elementary School students obtained a percentage of completeness 80% with a very effective category. It was concluded that the development of a science companion module based on experience, interaction, communication, reflection (MIKiR) and literacy learning had valid, practical, and effective criteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was investigating English teachers’ strategies and also the dominant strategies used by English teachers in teaching vocabulary to young learners at Elementary Level An-Nahl Jambi. The subject of this study was an English teacher at Elementary Level An-Nahl Jambi. The investigation of this study was done through qualitative method with observation and interviews. The observation checklist, interview protocol, and video recorder were used as instruments for this study. The observation was done once in grade two which consists of three classes and the interview was done approximately 30-60 minutes two times. The findings of this study showed that there were five strategies used by teachers in teaching English vocabulary to young learners at Elementary Level An-Nahl Jambi. They were games, small groups, role-play, brainstorming, and demonstration. There were also the dominant strategies used by the teacher in teaching vocabulary to young learners are games and small groups.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to reveal how the internalization of religious education values contributes to the development of students’ interpersonal intelligence. Methodology: This study employs a literature research approach. The search for scientific articles related to ‘internalization of religious education’ was conducted through Google, ScienceDirect, Emerald, and Tandfonline. Main findings: Islamic religious education contributes to the growth of students’ interpersonal intelligence through the internalization of religious values, educational experiences, the selection of role models, self-reflection, and a commitment to continuous learning. Applications of this study: Islamic religious education should prioritize moral values, prosocial behavior, empathy, cooperation, forgiveness, interfaith dialogue, togetherness, experiential learning, critical thinking, self-reflection, and respect for diversity novelty/originality of this study: This study introduces a novel approach by integrating Islamic education with the development of interpersonal intelligence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore local knowledge and traditional food ingredients for the Anak Dalam, Duano and Kerinci people, especially those related to traditional medicine and food ingredients for each Jambi tribes. The Anak Dalam, Duano and Kerinci tribes have a rich cultural heritage, with local knowledge on spices and ingredients passed down from generation to generation. This study examines local wisdom as a source of public health. This type of qualitative research with an ethnographic approach to data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, focused discussions (FGD) and documentation with the Anak Dalam, Duano and Kerinci ethnic community. As a result, we found that the Anak Dalam tribe has Basale treatment, Duano has the Kelung ritual, and Kerinci has a lot of knowledge about local medicines and different foods, one of which is Betemas/Tasapa. In addition, the traditional diet of the Suku Anak Dalam, Duano and Kerinci tribe emphasizes the use of locally available ingredients for their nutritional and medicinal properties. This study highlights the importance of local knowledge in public health information resources. In addition, traditional food ingredients provide information about sustainable diets and potential sources of new compounds, this research contributed in finding the novelty of etnosains and etnofood Jambi tribes. This research concludes that raising awareness through the documentation of traditional knowledge Jambi's indigenous people is important for the preservation and regeneration of cultural heritage. As result, Studying the local knowledge of traditional medicine and ingredients of the Anak Dalam, Duano, Kerinci tribes are valuable insights for public health.

Abstract

In the context of English language teaching and education, the philosophical foundation needs to be a concern and mastered by teachers or educators. The philosophical foundation of teaching and education is a set of assumptions that come from philosophy which is used as a starting point in teaching and education. This study aims to describe the concept of Pragmatism and its contribution to English language teaching and education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The data were obtained from various scientific works related to the problem discussed in this study. The data were analyzed by using ‘content analysis’ technique. The findings showed that the philosophy of Pragmatism has given many contributions to English teaching and education; in terms of understanding the nature of learners or students, the goals of teaching and education, curriculum and teaching methods. According to the philosophical rationale of Pragmatism, curriculum and teaching methods can be developed in accordance with the learning objectives to be achieved.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine if and how students’ sense of self-efficacy correlates with their performance in STEM-related courses. Descriptive verification is the primary research strategy used in this quantitative investigation. All of the students from Banten Health Polytechnic took part in this study. A random sample strategy was used in this study. The sample size for this study was 100 students. Information was gathered via questionnaires for this investigation. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, namely PATH analysis with Smart PLS 3.0 software, are used in this investigation. Student learning outcomes were found to be affected by the STEM learning model (p<0.05), self-efficacy was found to be affected by the STEM learning model (p<0.05), and the STEM learning model was found to be affected by the self-efficacy of its students (p<0.05). It is hoped that further study would yield a STEM education approach that will enable all kids to flourish.

Abstract

Children with special intelligence and special talents are those who have above average intelligence, have faster memory and comprehension abilities compared to their friends. Thus, children in this category have many achievements; apart from that they also have the characteristics of self-confidence and perfectionism. Children with special intelligence and special talents certainly have intelligence or ability in one area that stands out the most. This research uses a literature review or literature review design, by examining 18 articles consisting of national and international articles related to service models for students with special intelligence and special talents. From the articles, it was found that the education service model for special intelligent children and special talents in several countries is the inclusive and accelerated model.

Abstract

This research is made based on the teachers’ problem in learning process. There are some problems emerged such as teachers lack of understanding in learning steps and how to write and read for the beginner. On the other hand, teachers also do not understand how to make the appropriate lesson plan. The intentions of this research consist of knowing the implementation of the ministry of religion affair program towards students’ learning outcome and the improvement of teachers’ skill. However, this study is using CIPP evaluation model which is developed by Stufflebeam. This research conducted to English teachers at Islamic school in Serang city. There are twenty-seven teachers who followed this program. The choosing of participants is based on the data from the Information System for Educators and Education Personnel or we called SIMPATIKA. The data is got from the participants’ test, instruments and the documentation. It shows that the program gives the good impact for teachers and students’ learning outcome. There are 47% very good response and 53% good response from students related to this program and there is an increasing teachers’ ability about 27% in taking pretest and posttest. Besides, the category of teachers’ ability is very good based on smile face instrument and bull eyes.
