Abstract

Reading plays a crucial role in the intellectual and cultural development of individuals and societies. However, in Indonesia, the interest in reading books remains relatively low. This paper examines the factors contributing to the low reading interest among Indonesians, including socio-economic conditions, educational infrastructure, technological distractions, and cultural perceptions of reading. Data were gathered through surveys and literature reviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of reading habits in the country. The findings reveal that limited access to books, particularly in rural areas, the prevalence of digital entertainment, and a lack of encouragement from family and educational institutions are among the primary reasons for the low reading interest. Moreover, the study identifies strategies to promote a stronger reading culture, such as increasing public library access, integrating reading habits into school curricula, and utilizing digital platforms to make books more accessible. This research concludes that addressing the multi-faceted issues surrounding reading interest in Indonesia requires collaborative efforts from government, educators, and the community to foster a more literate and informed society.

Abstract

Teaching English as a second language (ESL) to young learners presents a unique set of challenges and requires the use of effective and innovative strategies. Short attention spans, differences in learning pace and style, and the need to make learning relevant and engaging for children, are some of the key barriers faced by educators. Through this study, we explore various methods and approaches to overcome these challenges, including the use of props, games and other interactive activities that support visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The study also highlights the importance of differentiating teaching and adapting to each child's specific needs to maximise learning effectiveness. In addition, the establishment of a positive and supportive classroom environment, as well as classroom behaviour management, were seen as important factors in facilitating successful language learning. The conclusion of this study provides insights into effective strategies in educating young learners in ESL, demonstrating the importance of teaching approaches that are creative, flexible and responsive to individual needs.

Abstract

Evaluation and monitoring in education management are critical components that support the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of educational institutions. Therefore, it is important to implement a comprehensive evaluation and monitoring system as a tool to analyse and optimise the teaching and learning process as well as the day-to-day operations of educational institutions. Through evaluation, the strengths and weaknesses of the education system can be identified, providing a basis for strategic decision-making and more efficient resource allocation. Continuous monitoring ensures that any quality improvement initiatives are not only implemented but also receive systematic feedback for further refinement. In addition, this process supports increased transparency and accountability of educational institutions, strengthens public trust and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement. Thus, evaluation and monitoring become not only a measuring tool for institutional performance but also a catalyst for the development of education that is innovative and responsive to future challenges.

Abstract

This study explores the most effective social media platforms for personal branding among students involved in campus organizations. The research aims to identify which platform—Instagram, LinkedIn, or others—is most influential in helping students establish their personal brand. The method used in this research involved distributing an online Google Forms survey to organizational students at several universities. The survey collected data on the social media habits of students, particularly focusing on which platforms they believe are most effective for showcasing their skills, achievements, and leadership roles. Results indicate that Instagram and LinkedIn are the most widely used platforms for personal branding, with Instagram being favored for its visual appeal and reach, while LinkedIn is preferred for its professional networking advantages. These findings highlight the importance of choosing the right platform depending on the branding goals and audience. Further studies could explore the impact of combining both platforms for a stronger personal brand.
