Abstract

The low skill level of Management Groups (MGs) responsible for community-based waste management and sanitation facilities in pesantren in Padangpanjang City underpins this study. This issue is associated with the inadequacy of existing training modules. This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective module for managing community-based waste and sanitation facilities in pesantren contexts. This research adopts a research and development approach using the ADDIE model. The participants were 35 MG members from pesantren in Padangpanjang, West Sumatra. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires, and analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings reveal that existing modules lack essential components and do not adequately address environmental management knowledge. The developed module demonstrates high validity (0.86) and practicality (K = 0.87), and significantly improves participants’ knowledge (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the module is empirically validated as valid, practical, and effective. It provides a structured learning resource to support capacity building among MGs and enhances the effectiveness of facilitator-led training. This study contributes to strengthening community-based environmental management practices in pesantren and supports sustainable development efforts.

Abstract

Addressing contemporary challenges—particularly issues regarding character that are widely discussed in schools, society, and even the political sphere—requires solutions suited to the current context. This study examines Kiai Ihsan Jampes’s concept of Ma’rifatullah (knowledge of God) and its relevance as an approach to moral transformation in the modern era. The eras of globalization and modernization have posed significant challenges to the cultivation of akhlaq al-karimah (noble character), characterized by systematic moral degradation, the weakening of family institutions, and a spiritual crisis. Employing a qualitative research method with a content analysis approach applied to the work Siraj al-Thalibin, this study aims to analyze Kiai Ihsan Jampes’s concept of *Ma’rifatullah* and assess its relevance in fostering noble character in the modern age. The findings indicate that Kiai Ihsan Jampes’s concept offers a holistic approach that integrates outward and inward dimensions through the processes of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), the development of spiritual intelligence, and moral transformation. This concept holds significant relevance for addressing contemporary moral issues by providing a robust spiritual foundation for establishing harmony—both vertically with God and horizontally with fellow human beings. The study makes a vital contribution to the development of Sufism and moral studies in the era of globalization and offers practical solutions to address the moral degradation of modern society.

Abstract

Language is a defining characteristic of human beings and serves as a means of communication and interaction among social beings. It is the existence of language that imbues human life with culture. Language acts as a medium for developing human thought, particularly in articulating the reality of the world around us. Learning principles represent an educator's efforts to create and structure the learning environment so that students can engage in learning activities optimally. Consequently, educators must understand these principles, their application, and the challenges involved in implementing them. Therefore, adapting to the evolution of the times and technology is crucial for creating effective and engaging language learning experiences.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of God in the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas comparatively, with an emphasis on epistemological, ontological, and moral elements. To identify conceptual similarities and differences, a qualitative comparative approach was used, which included literature analysis and interpretation of the main texts of both figures. It is known that Nietzsche rejects the existence of God as a transcendent reality; he views God as a cultural construct that limits the “will to power” and produces slave morality, fostering nihilism and value relativism. Al-Attas, on the other hand, asserts that Allah is the Absolute Being, functioning as the foundation of existence and absolute morality; his concept of Tawhid is not only theological but also forms an epistemological and existential framework that integrates spiritual experience, reason, and revelation. Al-Attas's perspective distinguishes him from Nietzsche's deconstructive stance by offering a harmonious paradigm of life where divine revelation serves as the source of absolute truth and moral guidance. This outcome underscores the importance of Islamic theological foundations in addressing the chaos of meaning and values brought about by contemporary secular philosophy.
